We employ a Bulgarian in New York State who does not speak English, and we do not speak Bulgarian. We are having a hard time communicating to him how to do specific tasks. Are there any Bulgarians out there with experience with a translation app or tool that could help us? Google translate does have Bulgarian as a language but I am wondering if it is the best for Bulgarian or if there is something better.
Also, any other suggestions for how we can help make work easier for him? Thank you for any suggestions!
Hello,
According to this page, when they are in stressed syllables, ъ is pronounced [ɤ], у is pronounced [u] and о is pronounced [ɔ]; and when they are in unstressed syllables, ъ is pronounced [ɐ] (like а) and у and о are pronounced [o]. My question is: do we really need to differentiate these sounds depending on their position in words? Would it sound OK to natives' ears if I always pronounced ъ, у, о as [ɤ], [u], [ɔ], respectively, regardless of their position?
Thank you in advance.
Здрасти! Can someone tell me a good online dictionary and a conjugator? Thanks in advance
Hi, everybody! I have a very active language exchange Discord server. The community is very nice and open-minded. Everybody is welcome. We have many languages to choose from. Here is how it works: You choose your native language and then you choose the languages you are learning. While you are doing this, others are doing the same thing. Once you pick your roles, you have access to different areas within the server where you can interact with natives of the languages you are learning and teach learners of your native language. We would love to see you there! Don't be shy! Come be part of the GLF family and be part of our community. Here is the link: https://discord.gg/A9yUrtm
Hi, I'm a moderator from the Lingosphere, a discord community revolving around the teaching and study of languages including Bulgarian. There's over 4,000 people on the server to help you with around 70 other languages, including language games, lesson posts, classes, language-of-the weeks and more. Come and join if you're interested: https://discord.gg/XVsN9Ds
It sounds, to an English person, like 'dar-ché'. Our neighbors say it all the time and since we can't spell in Bulgarian we've not been able to look it up. They say it almost as much as our Polish neighbors say 'kurwa' but we know what that means!!! We're sure it's a nicer word too just by how they say it... Any help?
in 06 I was adopted from Bulgaria into a Bulgarian family before moving to the USA. I tried to contact the Bulgarian embassy however I got no response (what was I expecting. we're Bulgarians. why do the work if we don't have to) what do you reccomend I do?
Hello everyone,
My name is Joe and I have l recently launched a discord server to learn languages. We offer every language around the world and we want to connect people together so they can learn and help each other.
We want to include members from every country to grow and expand and be a hub to help people.
What we offer:
Thank you for your time, hope you enjoy your stay
Ако на някого му е скучно в тези времена на седене вкъщи, може да заповяда в новият български сървър в Discord https://discord.gg/8DTAqEm
Това е перфектното място за хора с чувство за хумор, които имат много забавни мемета, но няма с кого да ги споделят, защото биват игнорирани от своите приятели (или просто нямат такива) или хора, които просто искат да се запознаят с други ретарди като тях.
Where can I start learning Bulgarian?
Just started learning Bulgarian. But it's so difficult to get my hands on anything to read. Does anyone know where I can download some stories to read? I can't even seem to find anything on my kindle.
My level is absolute beginner but I don't mind reading something way out of my league with a dictionary - as long as it's fun. Maybe fairy tales, or a digital copy of harry potter somewhere?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
Hello all,
We are having a meeting this weekend for the Bulgarian Society of my city. It is their annual AGM. I want to make up a 'welcome' sign to post by the door.
I would like it to say:
"The MLCA welcomes the Calgary Bulgarian Society to our hall for their Annual General Meeting"
Thank you,
Tony
If anyone is interested in joining a Discord server where they can practice their Bulgarian, then look no further! The Language Café is a laid back server in which you can get immersed with the language(s) that you're learning. Everyone is welcome, regardless of the languages that they know/are learning. Hope to see you there! https://discord.gg/AG4NMKJ
Здравейте!
I was looking for the lyrics of "Steel for Humans" from the Witcher 3 soundtrack (here it is on youtube) and found this:
Ой Лазаре, Лазаре / Oi Lazarus, Lazarus
Тука ни зарязали / They abandoned us here
Колко листе по горак / As many leaves in the forest
Толкос здраве на таз къща / That much health in this home
Прево тука дойдохме / First we came here
Мома, момче найдохме / To find the maid and the boy
Я момата годете / Wed the maid
Я момчето женете / Wed the boy
It sounds about right to me as for Russian speaker (except for зарязали's and the last two lines' translation), but I don't know Bulgarian and can't be sure. Could you please correct the lyrics and the translation?

Hi r/bulgarian
I was wondering if you could help me translate this little sentence: One day, his father gave him a bag with nails.
This is part of a video project I'm doing. It's an A to Z about languages, and Bulgarian got B. I want to do accurate translations, so I will be very grateful if you help me with this one. Thanks beforehand!
