Brutal death metal developed in the early 1990s, as an outgrowth of death metal. The first hints of brutal death came from the band Cannibal Corpse, formed in 1988, which began to push death metal into more extreme levels, shaping the sound of brutal death metal. It wasn't until 1991 that brutal death metal emerged, with the releases of Suffocation's Effigy of the Forgotten and Immolation's Dawn of Possession. The late 1990s proved to be an important time for brutal death metal with the release of both Devourment's Molesting the Decapitated and Disgorge's Cranial Impalement along with the releases of Dying Fetus. This has led to a large amount of bands heavily influenced by the originators of the style.
As the term "brutal" suggests, this sub-genre is pushing the ferocious and violent nature of death metal further into heavy territories. By applying traits such as compact song structures and loud, high speed riffing , death metal was taken to greater extremes. Brutal death metal tends to be drum-heavy and rhythm oriented leaving little room for melody and harmony. Typically, guitar riffs make use of fast tremolo picking, and heavy palm muting for a percussive effect. The drum lines are fast with predominant use of double bass and blastbeats. Because of this, brutal death metal drummers must be able to coordinate their drumming with very high endurance and speed. Brutal death metal vocalists employ heavy and low-pitched death growls even more so than death metal, and the lyrics are often gore related.

Been hella hooked on anime themed bands like GO-ZEN, Gorepot, Uwu and stuff like that and i'm running out of bands who use that as their gimmick lol. Any recs are good, doesn't have to be anime themed or whatever, just as long as it's slam. Anything that's not very known, looking for stuff that's less accessible I guess.
Bands like Heinous Killings, Putrid Pile and Insidious Decrepancy have all used drum machines. I don't really hear newer bands use drum machines anymore. Why does everyone think that is and what do we all think of drum machines in the genre?
Diego’s project before To Violently Vomit I believe. Not as well known about but still really sick sounding. Had a supergroup lineup too.
Ed Talorda - Bass Jason Trecazzi - Drums Diego Sanchez - Guitar Matti Way - Vocals
Been jamming Poland's most underrated technical brutality lately, had to show off my little support for them. Yattering are defunct now but released 3 sick and unique albums in the late-90s and early-2000s.
They miraculously have some merch still available on eBay, I'm guessing a band member or something just has an account and is getting rid of old shit. If anyone else is looking, just search Yattering on eBay!
Things like festering anal vomit by lust if decay or bubbling anal cum fart by cerebal incubation
Raw lofi sound and no riffs only slams and brutal as fvck
Any recomendations?
