Hi, I'm using slimbrave to debloat brave and set secure dns to automatic. It works fine, but I don't want to use the same dns as my device. I want to change secure dns in brave to something else. Is there any way to do that? I can't change it in browser settings

I use Brave on bath devices, that is desktop (Linux and Windows desktop and laptop) and mobile (Android tablet and phone).

Well, while on DESKTOP everything goes flawlessly, it works fine and I'm able to block every ads (using Brave Shield + UBO + ADG), on MOBILE I can't accomplish the same results (there is only Brave Shield).

Brave Shield works amazingly on YT, YT Music, Spotify. Thanks BrDevs.

It also works astonishingly with Newspaper websites (I tested it, with my country's major journals (ITA), Corriere della Sera e Il Sole24 Plus). Thanks BrDevs.

What's missing ?

Even though Brave Shield is so powerful, easy-to-use and fast, it's not enough to remove ads on Social media platforms (SMP) like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (on other SMP like Quora and Reddit it does a perfect job every single time).

So it's plain evidence that something is missing to Brave Shield compared Ublock Origin or AdGuard (on Brave desktop I use all of 3 Adblockers BS, UBO, ADG and there is no such issue).

I also did the following steps:

• Set Block trackers & ads to Aggressive.
• Content Filter > Filter Lists > (I have activated) > EasyList Cookie, Fanboy's Annoyance + uBO Annoyances, Fanboy's Social, Fanboy's Anti-Newsletter, Fanboy's Mobile Notifications, ByPass Paywalls Clean Filters, AdGuard URL Tracking Protection Filters, Easylist Italy, Brave Twitch Adblock Rules. //I don't know if I have to active Brave Experimental Adblock Rules.
• Block Fingerprinting.
• Auto-redirect AMP Pages.
• Block cookie consent notices.
• Block Switch to App notices.
• Send a "Do not Track" request.

Really, it's a GENUINE questions, what's missing to Brave Shield compared to Ublock Orgin or AdGuard ?

Why the former CAN'T block ads on SMP (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), but the latter CAN ? Am I missing something or doing it wrongly ?

Brave crashes as soon as i open it. I open and it is a white screen then it restarts my computer. And then my computer just goes random colours

My color used to be a bright magenta, but now it’s dull and barely visible. Any help or insight?

I just restarted Brave because the update notification had been there for a while. Prior to the update, I was watching youtube through the picture in picture feature. I pause the vid, update, reopen, now picture and picture doesnt work.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I think this may be a Youtube only thing because on Netflix it's fine

Brave for Windows desktop not blocking any ads or trackers.

Version 1.74.51

Computer rebooted last night for updates and now all ad blocking and tracker protection is inop. I’ve checked the settings and everything is set to the defaults I’ve been using for years.

I can’t see anyone else having these problems or anything about known issues on the Brave page.

Just what the title says. Every time I open brave two windows open the main browser, and then another one in the background that always opens to X. I don't want an X window always opening every time i need to use the internet its mildly annoying.

I know this has been discussed ad nauseam but I would still like to ask why this hasn't been changed.

1. Why is it checked by default?
2. Why doesn't it sync to other devices when I disable it?
3. Why does it randomly turn on?

This is so little money that I shouldn't complain since the browser is fantastic but still ... it just bugs me. :)

On taskbar, if I open brave it asks which profile I want to use. If the first is selected, it opens on the icon itself. The second profile opens a second taskbar icon. I want to make the first (default profile) have the same functionality as the second profile.

I was happily surprised when I found out Leo AI by Brave supports integration with local AI models, like the ones available in Ollama. Obviously, this would allow me to move on from using third-party extensions and start using the browser for that, which I already rely on. Unfortunately it didn't work!

Page Assist is rock n' rolling while Leo is struggling to cooperate. I really would like to know if anyone got this working for themselves. I even checked the settings to see if I misinput anything at all.

I get captchas like these on multiple websites after updating Brave. When I click anywhere on the page it disappears. Doesn't seem to be a virus and doesn't appear with other browsers. This is from Samsung website. What's going on?

I was prompted to do a Captcha to continue using Brave rewards which was successful, however, when I click the rewards icon, I'm prompted with this message/error? Has anyone seen this?

I don't care what they say, once STRIPE gets your credit card they always sign you up for subscription which cannot be cancelled,

Free is not a credit-card, they just want real ID, ok but stripe is the service provider behind all these services, and they are hell to kill

So does anybody know how to get an API, or is it better to just stick with duckduckgo and do it for free? with no credit card?

just had to switch to brave as fox started crashing every 5 mins for some unknown reason...

i like brave. i DONT like the fact that i can only sync/share 2 web pages to my PC at a time... any additional pages i send over do not get shared.. again it limits me to 2 page shares only

anyone have any idea if im missing some setting or is this like brave's inability to properly show emojis.. it is what it is (really hope not!)

I am getting a brave ads captcha, but when I click the "solve" button, the captcha doesn't load. I have tried several solutions from the forums, rebooting, solving on brave://rewards, disabling all javascript blockers and shields, making sure everything is up to date, but nothing seems to work. I even tried a clean /etc/hosts file and I've had no success. This seems to have been a problem a few years ago.

I'm running Version 1.74.51 Chromium: 132.0.6834.160 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Debian 12 and I'm connected via Uphold for multiple years now. Blurred the account balance for privacy reasons, but this is what I see when I open the rewards panel.

I would like to disable the Global Media Controls that appears as a clickable Toolbar button whenever video/media is played in the browser.

I have tried disabling the Brave Flags for:

 Global Media Controls updated UI - DISABLED

Hardware Media Key Handling - DISABLED

But unfortunately those changes did NOT work.

Can anybody tell me how to stop the Global Media Control Button appearing in the Brave Toolbar.

So I've been using Brave for a long time and never had issues with it on any device. Recently I got a new computer, installed Breve and the same extensions I've been using since way way back (uBlock Origin, and couple of productivity extensions). I'm no expert, but with every new device or browser I start using, I always check and adjust some security and privacy settings just to be on the safer side. On my new computer, however, even though I never enabled Delete X on Exit, and it is not even checked marked, every time I restart Brave, everything's gone (history, cache, and cookies, only bookmarks and extensions are preserved), and javascript is disabled even though I enable it every time. I thought I could've messed something on the security and privacy settings, but after checking a second, third and fourth time, everything seems pretty default. I decided to test whitelisting some sites I specifically want cookies to be preserved (youtube, gmail, proton mail), but nothing changed and Brave keeps deleting all cookies and disabling javascript on exit. Not sure what is going on.

Weirdly enough, sites that I whitelist for javascript to be enabled on uBO, also get reset on exit. Again, after triple-checking settings on uBO extension, everything seems in order. Furthermore, a very strange message that reads Your browser is managed by your organization is showing up on the settings panel, and the only policy that is enabled (not by me, btw) under brave://policy is Chrome Policies: BuiltInDnsClientEnabled.

I really can't figure out what's going on here. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I looked in History/ 'Tabs from other devices.' I see synced tabs, but all tabs are individually listed without their organizing tab groups.

I also looked in the tab drop down next to the minimize/max/close box at upper right.

Here are my settings:

- Settings/ Sync/ "Sync Everything" is switched on for both laptops, including "Saved Tab Groups"

- in Experiments, enabled are "Tab Groups Save and Sync V2" and "Tab Group Sync Service Desktop Migration" and "Tab Groups Save UI Update"

Any help would be appreciated. I came over from Edge and its best feature is Workspaces (synced tab groups across PCs) and I really need that in Brave.
