To me the number 1 was Tex Cobb was Larry Holmes, Cobb wasn't eating as many shots as claimed and was still blocking well to the end of the fight, sure he was outclassed, but the death of Kim Duk Koo is what caused much of this perception in a lot of peoples opinions, I didn't think it was that much worse than any other fight where they win all the rounds.. Also Wilder vs Fury 1, if you get knocked on the ground twice and manage to outbox you opponent in close rounds, that isn't a domination. If Boots Ennis knocked down Terrance Crawford twice in a fight where he conservatively won 4 rounds without Crawford knocking him down that is not a domination by Crawford

As the question says what is more impressive.
I think the Holmes/Shavers knockdown. The punch was textbook perfect and Shavers had immense power.
He seemed to get knocked down and because his head hit the canvas I think that woke him up.
From memory I think Holmes asked his corner “what happen to the 8th and 9th round if we’re in the 10th” or something. He must have been fighting on instinct.
The Fury knockdown I’m referring to is in the first fight. Everyone thought he was finished and he got up. However as powerful as wilder is, he doesn’t have great technique.
Both men got up and finished the fight with Fury drawing and Holmes winning by KO in the 11th after he got his bearings

So as you all know, Canelo has an upcoming fight on May 4 against Jaime Munguia, and I think this fight will be drastically important when looking at the trajectory of Canelo’s career. Here are some notes I took while rewatching his fight with Jermell Charlo last September.
Camp was in Truckee, California, USA. Canelo and his team were hoping the elevation would help his stamina and at least mitigate his stamina issues.
Canelo looked much more cardio/endurance focused in that camp than he has in years.
It was his first full fight camp since his unification bout with Billy Joe Saunders in May of 2021.
In both the training clips we could see on the internet and during ring entrances, Canelo was very bouncy on his feet, more so than usual. He was even practicing lateral movement in the locker room.
Canelo looked healthier and less bloated than he did for the previous two fights and looked similar to his 2021 form as far as physique goes.
At the opening bell, Canelo looked much more comfortable moving laterally than he has recently. Although he doesn’t have the best footwork by any means, his back step has always been key and he has one of the best back steps in the game.
Canelo was initially pressuring Charlo by trying to utilize head movement and a multitude of feints, but Charlo wouldn’t bite out of either fear or timidity.
Charlo was definitely looking for counter opportunities, but the body shots (notably in round three) stiffened up his legs very obviously.
Canelo was putting more emphasis on the left hook and jab than he did in his last three fights. After the fight, Reynoso asked if his left hand is okay. It’s clearly a worry for the Alvarez camp and may hint at a chronic injury.
Canelo’s punch selection wasn’t the best, but he was in cruise control the whole time. He fought with no urgency after round four and was definitely looking to prove a point regarding his stamina.
Charlo did a good job of rolling with whichever uppercuts Canelo threw, which were probably the best punch Saul tried after the KD. Charlo did his homework and avoided the money punch that could’ve ended the night.
Canelo very clearly didn’t respect Charlo’s power. Watching Canelo’s fights, it’s very clear that he doesn’t utilize head movement unless he’s either being fired upon consistently or respects his opponent’s power, neither of which was the case against the overmatched Charlo.
Canelo’s final punch numbers were very similar to his 2021 numbers, so the stamina is still near his zenith. It would definitely appear that the move to Truckee was worth it.
Overall, there wasn’t much to extrapolate from the fight apart from that Canelo and his team have found a training regime to maximize the stamina and health Canelo has left. He’s still very strong, good at muscling taller fighters who get close, and he’s still a seven round fighter at least when he steps on the gas. I think Munguia will force Canelo to his natural and STRONGER counter punching role and we will see then just what Canelo has at this stage of his career. I expect Canelo to fight with more ferocity and to have a better show of defense and punch selection given his countering ability.
My pick is that Canelo really returns to form and either scores a knockout in the later half or cruises to an easy decision against the fourth best fighter in the division. We’ll have to wait and see.
