/r/BottleCapCollecting
This is the subreddit for all things related to bottle cap collecting. It can be a super fun hobby, especially when you have others helping you out. Our goal is to create a community of collectors/sellers/traders
We focus on collecting and acquiring caps, rather than bottle cap art/stories/memorabilia
Things that ARE allowed in this subreddit:
Requests for trades, requests to buy and letting others know you are selling bottle caps.
Links to bottle cap auctions on Ebay, Craigslist, etc...
Posting pictures of unknown caps to seek help identifying them.
Displaying collections.
Asking questions related to the hobby (eg. seeking methods for repairing damaged caps) which are not covered in the FAQ.
Anything relating to obtaining information on caps, or the drinks themselves. This is more or less the general rule from which all of the other subreddit rules are derived.
Making posts about feedback about a trade that you had with another user. This keeps the community safe.
Bottle cap art, as long as it shows your different caps. If it's just the same cap over and over again or you can't actually see the design on the cap, it should not be posted. If you want to show bottle cap art and it doesn't not satisfy these criteria, you can now post it on r/BottleCap_Art!
Things that are not allowed
Posts asking questions that are answered in the FAQ. It has a lot of good community answers, so you will most likely find your answer here.
Posts related to Fallout. Comments related to Fallout are allowed. I only say this because I want this subreddit to lean more towards actually collecting and getting information on caps, rather than memes.
Stories.
Motivational posts that happen to involve bottle caps .
Anything not involved with actually collecting caps or collecting information on caps.
Very frequent posting (i.e. don't post something every day or two)
Nothing related to non fungible tokens (NFTs)
No posts that are not tailored to this subreddit. Basically, if you have submitted the same post to a bunch of other subreddits, it is not tailored to this subreddit and should not be posted.
If you would like to submit something, but are not sure if it is appropriate for this sub, feel free to message one of the mods!
If you want a custom flair (especially if you want to display your CC.I or CCSI identification number), let us know and we will make it for you!

There is an old abandoned house on my family’s property and I’ve always wondered how old it is. I decided to search the place to try to find something that would give me an idea as to how old the place is, these caps are pretty much all I could find.
Found this while litter collecting in a canal, I don’t know anything about lids, but it’s made of some kind of metal and looks like an old design, so I’m wondering how old it is and if it has any value. Any help appreciated :)
Sup yall, I have been gone for so long and may previous goal was to get 50 caps but right now, it's pretty crazy how much I got now.
So now it begs the question, should I show you all how much caps I have collected so far.
Last update was about a year ago. Almost doubled it in that time.
As promised, here it is. I tried to leave out the duplicates but some might have slipped in. The large majority of these were collected in 1997 in Suffolk County, NY with friends I still have to this day. We were in 6th and 7th grade at the time. I'm glad I held onto them. A lot of memories going through these. Hope you like!
Exciting Update: cap2go Version 1.0.6 is Here!

I'm so happy to find this community. I still have my collection from over 25 years ago that I'll be sharing soon. For now, the one that started it all. Anyone remember this advertisement campaign?
mostly rootbeer caps
Hello Reddit,
I am what some would call an amasser of any bottlecap I can findand recently tried to clean about 200 beer caps, primarily to get the smell out. I effectively just put them all in a cashews container, filled it with water and a half tablet of Steramine. I dumped it out and tried to dry them all at once quickly with a towel. Long story short, I had to leave for a vacation that afternoon and when I returned, I had a few piles of moderately rusted out bottlecaps.
I was just wondering if there was any other way I can try before I rust out the others. Convienience is not an issue.
Additionally, if there was any information about the proper handling to prevent scratches or minor damage while in storage, that would be great.
I was looking through my collection and found this strange Mikes Hard Lemonade bottle cap that was gray. I couldn't find it on Google Goggles or Scan or whatever they call it, so I figure I'll come here.
Is it a premium release? Is it worth anything, even with the slight rust?
Many more to come found this frame in a charity shop now it resides over my drinks fridge in my room!
Been collecting since 2021 and have dated all bottle caps with the year I have drank them.
After years of struggling with the various display methods (and my lack of talent for handywork) I managed to assemble the screws-and-velcro based 432 (18x24) caps wooden display. These are all beers, all drank by me (and boy some were bad). I can't say I've identified all of these, but I'm going to... in time...
They add to the 99 caps display I previously posted here (erroneously describing it as of 110 caps) that contains series of caps from a single brand. Some series are in this display too (Guinness, Forst, Raffo, a couple others); I plan to move the "series" caps to another series display when new single unique beers reach me and can take their places, as ath the moment the total series caps no included in the big display are >150. A way smaller display, meant to be displayed incomplete, is going to welcome the caps from trips.
This display is made from wood from an hardware store with a white primer paint and opaque black spray paint, screws distributed through a grid map model I made, and little circular velcro pieces from Amazon (their glue is less than optimal but I'll worry about it when it becomes a problem). Next display are, however, going to be made from reclaimed wood from furniture and traditional black paint with possibly no primer, depending on the condition of the wood, as spray paint proved to be less practical than I thought, kind of a waste and not that environment-friendly.
A big thank you to all the suggestions and examples I've read and seen here, as they were incredibly useful! Without those I wouldn't have made it. To crowncaps and to beer!
I have a ton of these what looks to be unused Coke caps. Are they worth anything?
Looking at selling batches of these how likely would they sell
