I’m not looking for a place yet and this might be a silly question but would it be a problem for most apartments if I had a punching bag that I used for workouts(mainly for Muay Thai workouts which would mean I kick the bag a lot)? The bag weighs 100 lbs but the main noise maker would be the chains clanking with one another when it gets hit. Obviously I would not workout during sleeping hours but I would like to get a few workouts in during some mornings here and there. Does anyone else have any similar experiences? Would love to hear some opinions thanks.
Hello, I've found great information on here about property management companies to stay away from, but does anyone (especially any individual landlords of multifamily properties in Somerville/Medford) have recommendations for a good management company, one that will work with a small multifamily property?
My mother has been the owner of a 2-unit home rented to Tufts students for the past 15 years but is 73-years-old now and recently shared that she is feeling overwhelmed. My sibling and I both live in other parts of the country and so are trying to find her a reputable property management company. Specifically, she is at the point in which the property needs some major updates (kitchen and bathroom renovations, at least) and we would appreciate working with a management company that can help her with these projects. Thank you!
Hey guys, I’m moving to Boston on January 25TH I am looking for roommates to rent an apartment with or to move into an apartment with roommates.
—Budget Max: $1250
—Within 25 min of Airport
—Male roommates preferred but open to female roommates
—18-26 year olds (This is a firm Limit as I am a younger person)
—Location: As close to the airport(via Metro) As possible
About Me: I am a 20 yr old(as of Jan) student pilot working on my PPL. I will be working at the Airport for an airline. I’m a pretty boring person outside of work, would love to discover the big city life, food, and culture. My few hobbies are Traveling, and swimming, but would love to learn to ski ⛷️. The perfect situation for me would be a group of 2-3 roommates in college or young professionals living near the airport or downtown, but I’m pretty flexible
I’ve never heard of such a policy before, is this common in Boston?
Hi guys!
I’m 23M currently working in consulting. My budget is between $1000-1400. Looking for rentals in Southie, Cambridge or North End. Looking for a move-in date closer to May 2025.
About me: pretty big into sports (basketball and football) and love to explore the city.
Myself and 2 friends are looking for a 3-bedroom apartment in Allston or nearby. September 1, 2025 move-in. Budget $4000! Any leads and advice are appreciated. P.S. Is it worth checking FB marketplace and Craigslist for apartments without broker fees? Or are those too full of scams to even bother checking? Any and all guidance would help!
Hi! I'm an undergrad student at Boston University. I'm looking for a place to move in from May-June. I prefer neighborhoods near BU (Allston, Brookline, or Brighton) Please DM me if there is a place available or anyone looking for a roommate!
Hi, I’m planning to attend Suffolk University Law School this year. I’ve never been to Massachusetts before, and I’m planning to rely on public transportation or walk around the city instead of buying a car. Do you think this is safe, considering safety concerns? ( I am from the West Coast, and I really do not know anything about the East Coast)
I also noticed that rent prices for Boston apartments seem very high. Could you recommend a neighborhood that’s both affordable and safe for students? It would be great if it’s within walking distance or a short commute by public transportation.
Apart from housing, I’m also curious about the weather and culture in Boston. Since I’m from the West Coast and have never been to the East Coast, are there any specific cultural differences or things unique to Boston or the East Coast that I should be aware of?

Looking for a TAW/short term 2Br rental (aka a miracle) or a sublet with two bedrooms (24Ms) from 2/1 to anywhere from 6/1 to 9/1
Hello, I'm a 22F trans woman living in Boston and looking for a one bedroom shared room or studio in boston, preferably within Jamaica Plain/Somerville/Allston/Brookline but I'm open to anywhere, really. I'd prefer above all to room with other women or queer people. I'm quiet, prefer clean spaces, work in Boston and usually keep to myself unless you'd like to hang out and go to events together! I am not a student but plan to be this coming September. I do music, illustration and work as a semi-professional artist online on the side.
I'm looking for a place as soon as possible or by February 1st at the latest. My budget is preferably anything under 1.5k a month for a room, so if you are looking for a roommate or know of an open room, please message me or reply to this post! Thank you!!!
Hello - moving from Medford to about 30 minutes west of Boston and wondering if anyone has had any successful movers recently they would recommend? On the flip side - any not so successful stories for companies to avoid would also be helpful!
Hi!
I’m a 19F looking for a room to sublease in Boston for the summer. My budget is $600-$1,000/month, and I’d prefer if all utilities were included.
I’m hoping to move in around mid-May and stay until the end of August. I’m responsible, clean, and easygoing, and of course I’ll be respectful of the space during my stay.
If you have a sublease available or know of any leads, please feel free to leave a comment.
Thanks so much for your help :)
Hi! My name's Jenny, I'm 23f, and wondering if there's anyone out there who's a similar age interested in looking for a place together! I graduated from the University of Rochester in May and am currently working in Salem MA, so I would be interested in somewhere near there or anywhere near a stop on the newburyport/rockport line including north station! I love going out and spending time with friends but also enjoy nights in reading or binge watching tv! I don't have any pets and I don't smoke!
I'm not in a particular rush to find a place but am hoping to move within the next couple of months and would love to find someone/ppl to do the apartment search with. I don't mind looking for a two bedroom or place or more than that if there's multiple ppl out there who wanna look for something together! Budget would be around $1000; please comment or message if you think we'd make a good fit!
Hello, I’m a 23-year-old French male coming to Boston for at least a year as a trainee.
I’m looking for roommates or a shared apartment in Somerville / Cambridge. I’ll need a parking spot since I’ll be driving to work in Andover, just north of Boston.
I’ll be arriving in Boston tomorrow (January 2nd) and staying in an Airbnb while I look for a place. I’m free anytime to visit or to meet and chat to see if we’d be a good fit as roommates.
Thank you!
This asshole peed on my car instead of inside the house he just exited…I hope he gets pissed on all 2025 😈
I’m looking to transfer my lease as I’ll be moving out of Boston. The apartment is in a prime location at the intersection of Cambridge and Somerville, just 15 minutes from Harvard, 10 minutes to Bow Market, right across the street from the Boston Bouldering Project, and close to grocery stores like Whole Foods and Market Basket. It’s also conveniently located across from the 83 and 87 bus stop.

Hello!
I'm looking for a room to rent starting Mid-January/February 1st.
My name is Oscar, I am a 26, queer and currently attending Simmons University for a dual MA/MS Master's degree in Library Science: Archival Management + History.
About Me: I'm a homebody and enjoy spending my time reading, writing, studying or just relaxing. I'm also a bit of a cook and enjoy experimenting with new recipes. I’m seeking a comfortable living environment where I can socialize and build friendships with my roommates.I am a considerate roommate who values cleanliness and respects shared spaces. I’m always mindful of others’ schedules and personal space. Mutual respect is a priority.
Within walking distance of Green, Red or Orange line.
If you have a room available, please feel free to message me, I’d love to chat and see if we’d be a good fit! Looking forward to connecting with you! Thanks!
In the Utilities section in my main lease agreement gas is not checked, meaning that I’m responsible for paying for the cooking gas. However, in the Utilities addendum gas is checked, meaning that the landlord pays for the gas. The employee who prepared my contract never mentioned that I should set up an account for gas, but he explicitly wrote me that I should set up electricity account. That’s why I assumed that gas was included in the rent (according to addendum).
My question is, when there’s a conflict between the lease agreement and addendum, which one should prevail? I talked to the property management company and they said that I should pay for the gas. But I suspect that they should be paying.
I live in Brookline, MA.
Looking for advice on where to find an affordable 2 bedroom that allows dogs and has in-unit washer dryer as well as HVAC. Currently in Wilmington with a daughter who spends half the week in Melrose so looking to keep it close. Work in Bedford/Burlington area. Current rent is $1950 for a 1 bedroom.
Moving to Boston in the spring and looking at a couple different complexes and I’d love some feedback on/how the surrounding area is.
I work remote and my gf will be working downtown, we’re looking for a newer ish complex for under $4200, 1 BR or 1 BR + Den preferred that’s more than 700 sqft:
South End: 345 Harrison, Girard Apartments, James and Harrison Court (heard this area by the medical center can be sketch?)
Kendall Square: Third Square, Watermark Kendall
Central Square: Ten Essex, 91 Sidney
I know all of these areas are vastly different and trying to figure out which would be the best fit. Planning on taking a trip to go apartment hunting soon but want to narrow down our options beforehand. Thanks in advance!
hello! we’re two graduating students (21F) from Northeastern University looking to search for housing in the JP/Roxbury/Mission Hill area! totally would love to take over a lease, find two people to go apartment hunting with… whatever works! our expected move-in is sept 1st (as is standard here). this is not our first time living off-campus.
