My current roommate is graduating and relocating out of the area in December, so we are searching for someone to sublease her room starting around January 1 through the end of the lease (7/31/25). There will likely be potential to renew for the new lease cycle starting Aug 1. This is for 1 bedroom in a 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment in the Coolidge Corner area of Brookline.
The room has lots of natural light and is well sized: you can fit a queen bed, nightstand, desk, dresser and still have more space. The apartment itself is very spacious and flooded with sunlight - common space includes a beautiful modern kitchen, large living area, separate dining room, and an alcove. There is also a porch off of the kitchen with an outdoor seating set. Common areas are already mostly furnished by me so the majority of what you see in the common area photos will be what you have here. There is an accessible laundry area with phone app-operated machines (can use quarters if you’d like though). The apartment is on the top floor of a bright and sunny three floor building and overlooks a courtyard. The landlord is very responsive and has been great to work with.
The location is a ~10 min walk to Coolidge Corner (Trader Joe’s, Stop & Shop, shops, restaurants, post office, Coolidge Corner Theater, gym). It’s also close to the Brookline Village area with a ~10 min walk (more restaurants and cafes). It is a ~20 minute walk to the Longwood Medical Area. Very close to public transit: 6 min walk to Saint Paul St C line stop, 12 min walk to Brookline Village D line stop, 4 min walk to Harvard Ave 66 bus stop. You can get to downtown Boston pretty easily!
Rent is $1,810 per month, and includes heat/hot water. Utilities (electricity & internet) are usually around $70 per person (higher in summer with AC use). Sorry, no pets.
About me: I’m a female scientific researcher in my mid 30’s working in the Longwood Medical Area. I am friendly and sociable, but also can be on the quieter side and busy doing my own thing. When I’m not working, I enjoy going out to museums, cultural events, and traveling.
Please message me if you are interested!
Hi everyone!
I am looking for someone to take over my portion of a lease in Brighton by January 24th (flexible!), with an option to renew. The lease is up August 31, 2025.
1 bedroom available in a 3x1. You'd be rooming with 2 of my best friends (both women) and the bestest & sweetest doggo ever, Waffles! Must be dog friendly. 🙂
I do have the smallest room of the 3, but pay less in rent as a result: $1100, plus shared utilities (internet, gas & elec).
I am preparing to move out of state and would like to sell my furniture as well! My desk, mattress & bed frame (a full), and dresser are all brand new from September. Let me know if you'd be interested in some or all (I'm thinking ~400 for all). Otherwise, the rest of the apartment (kitchen, dining/living room, & bathroom) is fully furnished.
Great perks:
- in unit laundry
- balcony
- lots of natural lighting!
- attentive & responsive landlord
- close to bus routes (the 57, which connects to the 66 and the green line, and the 86, which connects to the red line)
- free street parking, though to be transparent, it fills up quickly and you sometimes have to go a street or two over (still free)
- you'd have very friendly, clean roommates who'd love to be friends, or at least be friendly with the new tenant!
- the Y is right behind our building for anyone interested in a gym nearby, the library is very close as well, as is a small park
- the Charles River is a ~20 minute walk
- lots of great food options around, including Glasser Coffee Co, which has become everyone's favorite breakfast spot
- stop & shop is about ~20 minutes away by bus via the 57, or 12 minutes if you're able to catch the 64, but lots of things are even closer by car if you have one
The ideal roommate:
- lgbt+ friendly
- clean
- young professional
- no other pets preferably
Let me know if you're interested! I'm happy to answer any questions and provide additional info. We're also happy to schedule an in-person or virtual tour, if interested. :)

Hello everyone! I’m a 20 year old female looking for a room to rent from now (or as soon as possible) until the end of June next year. A month-by-month lease would be perfect. My price range is $800- $1200 (with utilities). I work in Back Bay, but I’m open to living in different neighborhoods as long as public transport is accessible, ideally the green line. Please let me know if you know of any places or if you’re in a similar boat/ interested in getting to know each other and becoming roommates!
More about me: I love baking, watching movies and shows, playing the Sims, hanging out with my friends, traveling, going out and exploring. I study history, with the goal of pursuing law, but I am taking the year off to build up my resume :)

Hi everyone! My partner and I are looking to move to Brookline in February for a job. We’ve browsed the market for the past month or so just to get an idea of average rents and what to expect, but we have started seriously looking in the past week and have had some trouble and need advice on the best way to go about finding an apartment.
Our budget is somewhere between $2500 - $3000, and we have a medium sized dog (~50lbs) who is now 8 years old and mostly sleeps all day. It seems that every time we find a place within our guidelines on either apartments.com or Zillow and request to apply, we either get an automated response from a real estate agent to fill out a housing form, or we get told the unit is not available, or we just don’t hear anything back. At this point I’ve talked to a handful of real estate agents and it’s becoming increasingly hard to keep up with, and most of them have not kept contact after we tell them what we’re looking for.
Is it too early to start looking for apartments and should we wait until closer to move in to secure something? Or should we be going about our search a different way? We are moving in from out of state so we feel a little more urgency to find an apartment since there will be more logistics when it comes to moving cross country. Thank you in advance!
I’m extremely ashamed and embarrassed to be asking this but I’m desperate for advice/insight. Last month I received a notice to quit for nonpayment of rent at a managed apartment complex which I cured by paying the balance. This month I was late again and have received an unconditional notice to quit, which I understand is the landlord’s right. I’m wondering if anyone else has been in this position and been able to prevent the proceeding of the eviction process by paying the overdue balance again? I have already paid the balance and contacted management and am now waiting for their response. Thanks in advance
I’m starting at a new job in FiDi soon and I’m looking to sign a studio apartment from February 2025.
Locations: Back Bay, Cambridge, Somerville, East Boston
Budget: $2500
Requirements: A dishwasher in the apartment and at least a laundry room in the building would be nice.
About me: I did my masters at NYU and am working in finance.
Please let me know if you have any leads!
Hey everyone! I got a job in Boston and I am looking to move in somewhere very urgently. I am a 26 professional and I will have no pets. I am pretty down to earth and some of my hobbies including working out, the movies, and skiing. I am looking for a 6-8 month lease. My budget is up to $1250/month. If anyone knows someone with an open room or leads in the south, Brighton, and Cambridge area please message me! Thank you all!!
Ok, I don’t know if this could help me in any way or if it’s a dead end. But, basically, could the fact that there are already two dogs in the building be of any help if I inquire about the possibility of getting a dog in the future? My current lease says dogs aren’t allowed. The unit below me has two obnoxious small dogs that go insane every time anyone enters the building. The outside of the building is covered in dog hair and smells of dog urine. I guess maybe they changed the rules after a point.
I feel like every website I go to find a new place to live, I'll put in filters for something like a studio or 1 bedroom apartment, for example. And everytime I do I'll find a place, open the page up, and right in the description it says something like, "1 room in 4 bedroom apartment".
What websites are we using here for an actual 1 bedroom apartment, not "1 bedroom available in 4 bedroom apartment"?
I made a post last week or so saying that I’m moving to Woburn for a new job.
I was trying to look for a 1 bed, 1 bath for myself but that’s seemingly getting harder to find and things happened with the job offer where I won’t be receiving as much as I hoped.
I’m a male, 23 (will be 24 in Feb), I’m clean, tidy, and will take after the place. I know it’s sketch trying to find people over the internet but I’ll literally have my friends FaceTime and vouch for me so you know I’m not crazy or weird.
I’m also looking to get a cat for myself so I’d like to find someone who’s chill with that. I also gotta be honest, I do smoke weed but I’m ultra mega conscious about it and I make it an effort to be as discreet as possible cause I know a lot of people don’t like the smell.
I’d be looking to move in around December of this year. It there’s anyone who can help, please let me know!
EDIT: looking for $1600-1800/month
Hello! I’m a northeastern student (F20) looking for one roomate who is preferably also a student and a girl. I have an apartment that i toured and really liked that was 1650 per room. If anyone is interested please pm me!
