Have a book you want to share but don't know who to share it with? How about an internet stranger. Want to read a book, but don't know what? See what shows up in your mailbox!

Have a book you want to share but don't know who to share it with? How about an internet stranger. Want to read a book, but don't know what? See what shows up in your mailbox!

BookPals is about building friendships and a community around a love for books. Introduce yourself, talk to people, send some one a book with out telling them what it is. Introduce new people to your favourite books and authors. Keep sending books you receive.

Because this concept involves actual addresses, please proceed with caution in giving out your personal information. A few rules:

  1. Only give out addresses in PMs. DO NOT POST THEM IN POSTS OR THREADS.

  2. Only give out YOUR address. Any one caught giving out some one else's contact info will be banned.

  3. Please don't just receive books. This should be a two way street. For every book you gets, send one. (within reason of course).

  4. Do an [Intro] post. (Not required, but strongly recommended). Tell us a little about yourself. Give us your top five books/authors.

  5. When you send a book, try to include a "log." We can see how far books make it around the world. If you get a book that has a long history, tell us about it!

  6. This isn't so much a rule as it is a guideline, but talk about the book you read here! Review it briefly, you and your pen pal have a discussion here and include others who have read it!

Some Guideline:

  • If you are looking for a pal and not a specific book, use [LFPal].

  • If you have some books you are trying to give a new home to, use [Offer]

  • If you are looking for a specific books use, [LFbook] and put the title in the, well title.

  • You don't have to use these for now, but they might help keep things a bit more organised.

Help me succeed

Hello, i am thinking of starting the 52 book challenge but i need ur help. I dont think i would be able to do this on my own. I require a constant push to do things. So it would be really great if we do this together. If there is anyone who has just started this challenge then we could do this together. We will choose books alternatively so that there's no fight😂. Please i think its a great idea, so if anyone is interested then msg me. Pls

Book buddies ??

This quarantine sucks and I haven’t been that motivated to read the books that I have,so if anyone wants to be my book buddy and talk about books, cute mom and pop book shops, and give me some recommendations, then go ahead and PM me and we can get this motivational friendship going!

P.S. we can exchange emails and stuff too or start a little book club. Ok I’m done now, bye 🌸

Found this dead subreddit, and want to help...BUT

I'm not a fast reader! Though I am a reader, with the goal of this year to read 25 books. I'm doing great, I've read almost two a month, and I'm only behind a few books for the yearend goal.

I'm one of those heartless individuals that will write in the book, on the side, up above, and even on the covers. So what better way to penpal than having someone else read my thoughts while reading my books and either agreeing or disagreeing? Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for me finding this subreddit, I had an individual that was a penpal of books. But she finally popped out her children and reading became a thing of the past as even the emails between us have grown distance. But that's okay, someone in here is going to fill the void, right?

Of course, I don't care if you send it back to me, or want to send it forward to the next person. I just ask that you save the back page for the logging portion. I've received one book back that I've sent that was read by 31 different people and the book was covered in notes, thoughts, and memories, there were pages hanging out of it from postages, notes stapled to the pages. It's one of my most prized possessions. For those interested, the book was 1984.

I'm just about to finish John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, and though I haven't written a ton inside it with the exception of relating to being a giant guy that holds onto things too much and regretting it, there isn't a lot to relate about, but I'm going to log it. And I want to send it to someone that's never read it before and hope that person would forward it to someone else that's never read it, and maybe one day it'll find its way back to me, or someone that can keep it forever as a token of experience.

Does anyone agree to this? Would you like to receive a book? Or send me a book that I've never read.

[Request] Little Free Library start up

I hope this is an acceptable use of this subreddit. I am starting a Little Free Library and looking for some books to fill it up!

I am going to include some by John Green since he is amazing... I want to have books that are kid/young adult friendly because there is a school and a park near by. In general, I am looking for things that foster learning, independent thinking, open mindedness, compassion, adventure etc. Good stuff. There are also several very different churches near by so spiritual stuff is good, too.

[Intro] Hello Everybody!

Hello fellow Redditors, I'm Will! I'm 15 and I love to read. Some of my favorite authors are John Green, James Patterson, basically young adult or adult stuff I'm really into. I thought I'd show up here since /r/bookexchange was getting a little too crowded and when /u/gallifreyGirl315 posted this on the nerdfighter subreddit, it seemed like a great idea! So here I am, see you guys around. Allons-y!

[Intro] Hey!

So I guess I'm going second. I'm 22, a Civil Engineer, and I like lots of books. I love my Harry Potter of course, but I like reading a lot of the classics and young adult books (like John Green), but I'm open to reading just about anything once. I just graduated college last June and this year has been fairly busy, but things have just recently slowed back down to where I have reading and free time, yay!
