I'm just wondering if anyone had painted any of the plain wooden pieces in their booknooks ? If so, can you show me pictures ?
I’m always recommending Tonecheer’s content. They have great book nooks and other miniatures! Their stuff is high quality. They don’t do a lot of the books and papers like the others, which is kind of a bummer. However, their stuff is very original and beautiful! I’ve also done “punk bar” by them and it’s a really cool piece as well. But swan dream is my favorite out of my 9, so far, regarding looks and aesthetics and final result. What do you all think?
HI everyone! I'm like really new to this whole book nook thing and just completed one of the tiny Rolife scenes. I'm thinking of committing to a bigger one and I'm leaning towards the Time Travel Train! Does anyone have any advice on making it look less Harry Potter-y? I'm thinking maybe paint the train like forest green? Is that a good idea?
Anywho happy crafting 🤩 (also I have NO CLUE what OC means so this is the flair I picked)
F**k this dinosaur skeleton!
This was my first book nook, and I've got notes.
The kit instructions were clear, if simple, and the pieces were decent quality and detailed. Luckily most things were obvious how they should go together, and they called out the things that were possibly complicated. It also came with about 30 extra books compared to the minimums called for in the build, so you could make it as cluttered as you like.
As far as assembly goes, it went okay. It took about 12 hours, of which about 2 hours was gluing books together. I only broke one piece (the fiddly little newspaper bucket), so that's not too bad. I was concerned about the lighting rig placement but it was reasonably easy. There was some nudging to get it into place, but it went okay. I took some tips and tricks from here, including using gold and silver brush markers to gild picture frames and the edges of books and using some wood-toned brush markers to make the raw edges less obvious (and cover up in a few places where I chipped the finish). I also used a pair of tweezers scavenged from my jewellery making gear, which are very fine flexible curved-tip tweezers. These were ideal for getting into small places.
My main quibble was my own fault: choice of glue. I went with UHU (E6000-ish glue), which worked well as far as sticking but did end up leaving sticky strings. It also would have been useful to have fast-drying glue in some spots, as it took quite a while to dry. The downside of superglue would be that I have to be precise in my placement the first time, which I think would be okay.
Some things I'd do differently include gilding the edges of the picture frames before putting them on the wall (I only thought to do it later and did smudge a bit) and reconsidering my glue choice. For maximum effort, I might scan some covers of actual books and produce my own book covers. For tools, I'd like some little rubber mallet to help tap things into place, and some additional markers to add little touches here and there.
Overall, this was a fun kit. I'd definitely do it again (though not this one as I only need one of them obviously).
Hello, i would like to buy one set for my wife, i have hard time making a choice between all there is on the internet.
Ideally the "book" node will be stading next or on top of her PC..
I would like something coming from europe/us not china if possible.
She is quite crafty, but has not a lot of time.
She like harry potter, lord of the rings, Studio Ghibli (she has a totoro tatooed on her back ) Slay the spire.
if you can guide me it would be cool :)
P.S: sorry for my broken english
Hello, i would like some help for buying a good one, do you have some brand to recommand ?
I would like something not coming from china, if possible, Europe will be perfect.
The "Book" nook will ideally be standing on top of her computer, or next to it.
She like Harry Potter, Ghibli, lord of the ring, slay the spire, and a lot more.
Thx for the advices, and sorry for my broken english.
She like puzzle and is crafty but she does not have a lot of time recently
Thank you to the person who suggested this one when I asked for more cyberpunk/sci-fi nook kits! The electronics and hardware were extremely well put together and thought out, and the prints were spectacular quality. Very detailed instructions and very little glueing and zero cutting made this a joy to assemble. Really love the lighting design and the moving parts in the finished product! This is one of those kits where the product pics do not to the depth and detail justice. Also including two things I’ve never seen before: a glue stick instead of a tube, and a chunk of wax to lubricate some of the moving parts. Pretty easy, as I was able to put this one together in one evening! This kit also has a choice of motion or touch sensors for the lights, and as I discovered, the touch setting has two different lighting modes for day and night! Super cool feature.
Hello, could anyone recommend an EU based eshop with good booknooks and miniatures? Looking for eu based in order to minimize the hustle of customs procedures TIA
Hi all! Does anyone have tips on how to remove excess glue from various booknook surfaces, especially wood and paper? I'm getting better at not overgluing but I still need to tidy up some of the excess that squeezed out or that I accidentally smeared in places. Advice appreciated!
Hi all - for those that put either of these kits together, how difficult would it be to add fabric curtains to the kit? I was thinking of using real velvet or ribbon of some kind - is there space? What materials would you use, and would it be difficult in your opinion?
I saw a YTer using a board with markings like graph paper and I thought it looked like a good idea. That way I could move it more easily if I wanted to take it off the table before I’m done. But I’m not sure what to get or where. Any advice? Thanks!
