Every few weeks I listen to it on repeat and fall to pieces.
Im rewatching the show and got to the scene where Herb is telling BJ he’s doing Horsing Around and offers Bojack the part. And then kisses him. Do you guys think he was in love with Bojack or something? I never interpreted it that way since he seems to get over it really quick when Bojack wasn’t interested… but now I’m wondering if maybe he was. What do you guys think?
I’ve watched many shows which have touched my heart from breaking bad to how I met your mother but this show truly ripped my heart out. The idea that there is no “perfect happy ending” no matter how much we like to fantasise about it in our own lives as shown in the finale. The fact that our mistakes stay with us and we aren’t always forgiven like Bojack with Herb. This show is such a heart shattering masterpiece which is so multidimensional when it comes to its themes of childhood trauma to extreme depression to various philosophical questions and truths.
It’s a show that starts funny leading you to believe it’ll just be another comedy like Rick and Morty or family guy but it becomes one of the most relatable shows ever because it truly captures the essence of being a human. We are flawed, life isn’t perfect and none of us have had perfect upbringings or experiences but what has happened to us doesn’t make us who we are. The five main characters are in many ways all part of a similar character and you could argue they all have a somewhat happy ending including bojack yet it’s not “perfect” and life isn’t perfect but that’s ok, because “tonight is a nice night”. It’s really made me view my own life differently. From the view from halfway down (I have been going through some rough patches in my life and this episode was extremely powerful).
I love this show but also feel extremely sad when watching it because I guess sometimes it’s nice to live the lie that life is perfect. But we all have to wake up at some point.
my 3 favorite characters are Todd, Stefani, and Kelsey. what about you guys?
I think mine has to be in “See Mr. Peanutbutter Run” when the professor tells Mr.Peanutbutter his final bit of advice for skiing. “Keep your legs ben—“. Then Mr. Peanutbutter starts to cry “Who’s Ben?” It gets me every time!
I’m on my second rewatch and how am I just realizing that the entire episode Sarah Lynn is referred to as Sabrina??? I guess the writers changed the name early on and switched characters, but it totally threw me. And it changed the line “Didn’t Sabrina grow up before our eyes!” To me
Amazon changed the title, but kept the core premise. Unfortunately, the showrunner is not JD Salinger.
I’ve noticed some talk about peoples thoughts on the episode and remembered that the first time I watched BH, I was almost disappointed to see that Bojack survived. I think it would have been a very poetic ending to not have him be in the last episode and instead reflect on Bojacks life through the many characters he crossed paths with through the series, maybe even showing the irony of how celebrities are forgiven or idolized after their deaths. That said, I still love the ending to the series and I’m not going to bash the writers for it. What were your thoughts on this ending?
A bit more effort, a bit less derivative, still uncertain of the legality of this song, but figured it would be enjoyed regardless.
The banners with typos in the background of Bojack is one of my favorite bits throughout the series.
I completely see everything different after finishing Bojack. It opened my eyes to everything. From family and friends to the show business in general. When I was an early teen I was sad sometimes but never depressed. Now as an adult after watching the show I realize I might’ve been depressed but told my self I was okay and just went with it. I’m absolutely terrified by the thought of death, and seeing the way the show portrays death by a door that literally leads to a black abyss was probably what opened my eyes up the most. I’ve always questioned what comes next when we die. This masterpiece of a show is undoubtedly the reason why I now see life and death in a whole new way.
In every show, there’s a character for whom people project themselves to, as a kinda lost rich sad guy (I’m being very humble right now), I see myself in Bojack, who do girls see themselves into ? Is it still Bojack ? Or is it one of the female protagonists ? I really want to know
