Hey fellow surfers! Do any bodysurfing veterans have advice for losing the fear of big waves? I can get in and out of big swells safely, but when i get to the outside i just can't get myself to ride the big ones. I ended up only riding literally the smallest wave i could find in the session 😂 I don't have bodysurfing buddies, especially on the winter, so I surf with board surfers so they don't have much specific advice to the sport. I also find it really hard to enter the waves compared to the medium and small ones, I either drop on the lip or don't enter the wave at all.
Hi there, I banged my head on the bottom last week and had a minor bleeding in my brain (im fine, still in hospital though). Have been wondering about getting a helmet ever since, but I am worried about performance and handling when duck diving and reading waves due to the peripherical vision. Have you ever bodysurfed with a helmet? Which model, if any, would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
So I have everything ready to go just want to understand what’s features I should include so it tracks well and provides good lift etc.
I know that a totally flat base with hard edges wouldn’t be optimal.
I know a slight channel through the centre of the board will help it maintain its course rather than slide sideways across the water?
What else?
The basic shape is going to be based on my WAW Badfish but about ten millimeters larger all round.
Hello everyone,
I used to love bodysurfing. However, i have a condition in my eyes and i am required to wear Scleral Contact Lenses. If i do not wear my contacts, i cannot see at all, and they are not easy to take in and out.
My Doctor says that i need to find goggles that prevent water from getting in. This is very hard to do while bodysurfing, its almost impossible. But i was wondering if anyone knows of a pair of goggles that is secure and prevents water from breaching the goggles. I have used the search bar, had a little luck, but seeing if there is a more recent answer.
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know when and where in Italy is best for waves?
Wondering about bodysurfing potential along the Chiapas coast? Any reports or experiences?
In Kauai for a few more days , anyone know of a shop in kauai that sells hand planes? I called a few places with no luck.
Has anyone received their yucca long blades yet and how have you liked them? Been waiting for them forever now 😰
For the Viper fans: I spoke with JP @ Viper today and more V5’s and V7’s are coming. They have had a supply chain issue that is about sorted out and he is updating the Viper website. Should be able to buy direct from Viper by mid March.
Solo Mini Slab Session. Awesome aspect of bodysurfing is that you can dive down and hold onto the rocks when the steamrollers wash through! Can't do that with any type of board!
Has anyone received the yucca long blades and how do you like the new foot pocket? I know he said the foot pocket is a tad bit more narrow? Should I go with a mL or a large?
Here it is, the latest one... I think I've finally hit a nice balance in shape, built and weight. and scinve got some questions on the grip for my previous post, some pics of how i grip it, will depend on each rides i guess.
Anyone running these? How do they feel? Thoughts on sizing?
I like this one better than the previous one. This one is about 400 grams, 50% lighter than the previous one, but really sturdy! But, once you start sahping ypur guns... you can't sotp so there is a third one on the workbench right now.
3D printing seems like an interesting tool for this boards. We'll see what happens in the long run.
This could sound like a ridiculous question, but I wasn't sure where else to ask it. I told my parents I started bodysurfing, and they reacted pretty strongly because they knew a kid who was paralyzed doing so. It's made me nervous to get in the water now as I'm very much still learning my way around. Does anyone have any times for maximizing safety as a beginner? Wave conditions, technique, or anything helps. I've only gone out in 2-3ft waves. This may be mostly a mental barrier for myself but I would truly appreciate any advice from people here. Thanks.
Edit: I meant to say in the title that I bought some surf FINS! Stupid typing thumbs and proof reading eyes didn't work well! 🤦🏻♂️
Bodysurf cyanotype print I made last night.
I feel like he’s really riding a wave.
This was a print in a test series. I plan on centering the design on 10x10 or 12x12 WC paper.
