A pair of fins.

Surfing classes are common, but is there such thing for bodysurfing? I have tried many times myself and I just don't stay on the wave long enough or just get rag dolled by a wave (lost my mask this way).
Any videos or articles (with diagrams) I can look at that explain the science of which waves to go for, which to avoid, where to position yourself etc.? Would be very helpful.
Also are there any local group chats I can join for Marine street beach?
Tiny waves but massive smiles!
Aside from the obvious goat Mike Stewart, I’m curious who you guys think are the best?
54m who has been surfing mostly short boards off and on for most of my life. Would love some intel. Recently got some fins and a plane. Questions: Should my body be tense or loose? What type of supplementary exercises are helpful? Would love input from folks with a blown disc. What are the most important factors for riding a wave in the pocket for as long as possible? Thanks in advance for any helpful input.
My surfing buddies are all board surfers(there are no bodysurfers in south brazil other than lifeguards in summer) and even though they're in awe about me staying in 2h+ in the water with them in every condition, they do say i should try board surfing, that i would like it, etc.
Well i decided to try it. I'm 7 sessions in and it was funny in the start, because i would just laugh at my inability to do anything on a board, but i haven't surfed a single wave yet and it just feels like a chore to keep going out with a board just to get destroyed. Especially when you watch everyone catching waves. I only went on small days, since i figured i wouldn't be enjoying those anymore with fins. But even then i just wish i was with fins when i end up not catching anything 😂
Anyone has had a similar experience or practice both? I was thinking about trying bodyboarding sometime too, but not sure. Would love to hear your thoughts.
https://www.podware.com.au/ This is the link If anyone’s interested in having a look. I’ve commented on posts before about how stoked I am I stumbled onto these. Before these fins I found every type bored holes into my skin after a longer session in the water and one fin put too much pressure on my big toe and I lost the nail.
I visited the POD factory in Caringbah NSW Australia and he spend about half an hour showing me all his designs. He generously offered for me to take a few pairs out to try before deciding. I didn’t take him up on it but I was impressed by him being a genuinely nice person and passionate designer. Now after a year of heavy use and neglect they are still perfect and the best purchase I’ve made in years!
I have just got into body surfing and I don’t know how to properly do it
I love bodysurfing, but recently have been experiencing discomfort as I slide down waves at high speeds. My nether region experiences high turbulence and I was wondering- have any of you utilized a baseball cup to protect said region?
I'm looking for suggestions for a 12 month warm weather bodysurfing itinerary. I've been bodysurfing my whole life, mostly in North Carolina (Wrightsville Beach) and have enjoyed bodysurfing in Costa Rica (Tamarindo, Nosara) Byron Bay, Bondi Beach, Sri Lanka etc. Just a casual bodysurfer, no gear.
I bodysurf superman style, and ideally like long, smooth and fast rides. Costa Rica and Byron Bay have been probably my favorite places to bodysurf so far.
My criteria:
surf temp 75f or warmer
clear warm weather (not rainy season or overcast)
no more than 2 months in any one region
a somewhat logical traveling itineray that avoids back tracking (ie not Mexico in Jan, Australia in Feb and then back to Costa Rica in March)
Preferably looking for sandy shore or sandbar breaks.
And this is something I really plan to do, so not just hypothetical.
I've tried asking AI (meta ai and chatgpt4) but they were worthless, both suggesting South Africa and San Diego, because they "forgot" about the 75f surf temperature requirement or the out of rainy season requirement (Nicaragua in September).
Hawaii in Feb seems like a good bet? Remote is fine, no busier than Bondi Beach in February,
Thanks!
Looking forward to getting some winter waves this year!
Evening folks, I live in Bristol and am looking to head over to Rest Bay rather than my usual 3 hour drive to Devon. Is there anyone on this group in the UK?
Wondering how everyone got their Handskis? Ordered mine 6 months ago on the Taylor’s Mistake Handski website and still nothing. Now the site says it’s down. Is that normal? Or was it my mistake?

Why do you think bodysurfing doesn’t get as much attention in mainstream surf culture?
McDonald’s tray as a hand plane. Blew up the next wave, and got another 3-4 hours of waves like this with no plane. Great conditions
Edit: shorter bodysurfer
Just curious because I notice nost of the elite bodysurfers tend to have taller, longer frames (with a few exceptions)
Trying to order a Grom and it’s not clear?
Question for all my fellow whompers out there. Have any of you actually thought about wearing a soft helmet? How much more protection can you possibly add or is it just a placebo effect?
My question is can I use googles? Im blind without contacts and can't open my eyes under water without them. Also the water is choppy where I live and I'm scared I'll lose one.
Going to Waimea Bay tomorrow and I’m a bit overwhelmed but wanting to experience some heavy surf.
Looking like it’s gonna be anywhere between 6-12 feet. What’s the best way to approach it without basically ending my life?
I'm in California and my current 5mm suit is getting old and letting in water. Its also stretched out which causes more drag, especially when a stream of water catches it causing it to balloon out.
Has anyone used triathlon wetsuits? How do they compare to wetsuits designed for surfing? I'm leaning against one b/c I imagine they aren't as durable.
Also will a triathlon wetsuit offer as much buoyancy? Am I the only one that prefers the buoyancy to not get as tired but also for control while on the wave?
Lastly is reducing drag always the goal when picking a wetsuit? Sometimes I feel I can use the wetsuit drag to have more control compared to when I'm skin surfing
I'm in Peniche today and tomorrow to do some bodysurfing, was planning on hitting Supertubos but the wind might not cooperate. Anyone have tips for somewhere with good barrels for the swell tomorrow? Also happy to meet up if anyone is looking for a surf partner.
