FAQ/wiki

News, articles, pictures, videos & advice on everything related to bodybuilding - nutrition, supplementation, training, contest preparation, and more. Bodybuilding is specifically defined for purposes of this subreddit as the sport that involves preparing yourself for a competition (includes bikini, fitness, figure and physique). There are other subreddits better suited to those just interested in staying fit or building a beach body or lifting weights.

  • This subreddit is a community where those interested in the sport as defined here can share their opinions and experience as well as the science of the sport. Don't devalue opinions and experience by dismissing them as "broscience". This subreddit is not a site for vetting only scientifically provable propositions. Remember, science, particularly in the area of sports and nutrition, is evolving rapidly. Our experience, though anecdotal, can help fill those gaps until the scientific community reaches consensus.

Reminder: This is an internet forum in which anyone can post and comment. Believe what people say at your own risk.

Do I have to tan for a show

Hi I’m planning on competing the nys ocb big east natural and im wondering if it is required in any competition to tan. im guessing it depends on the rules per comp but just wondering. There are a lot of health effects short and long term to using any of these tanning products and i bodybuild to be healthier so this just seems backwards to me. Id much rather go out looking a little paler than others, not looking to win anything just wanna compete for some fun and light hearted friendly competition with others who share a common interest.

What is the purpose of doing multiple workouts for the same muscle group?

I guess I've been having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of doing multiple different exercises for the same muscle group. For example, what's the point of doing 3 sets of cable tricep-pushdowns and 3 sets of cable tricep-pullovers if you could just do 6 sets of cable tricep-pullovers? Especially if you feel a better stimulus in just the cable tricep-pullovers? Wouldn't it be way more efficient to just keep doing the same exercise if it causes a really good stimulus?

28ish weeks out. Classic Physique. 6’4” 242lbs

Had to darken it a bit to hide the high school girls dancing behind me (talked to their dad first and told him what I was about to do so all good)

Mid bulk. Have till about May to eek out any more size. Staying relatively lean through my growth phase.

Biggest issue rn is getting down all my food 😭
