Alright group I acquired a 1992 wellcraft excel 20dx and I'm not sure if it was a less popular model or what but everything I look at is for the 20sx. Any links or posts we know of where I can get more of an idea on parts? The Yamaha motor was taken and replaced with a 1964 mercury 65hp dinosaur. I can't even find many decent pics of this boat so anything would be helpful.
Recently purchased a boat from a family member for super cheap. Just noticed there is a pretty good crack in the deck. Looks like my uncle’s uncle might have dropped the anchor or something. It’s about the size of the width of my foot. Doesn’t seem to affect anything if I stand on it, but it is indented a bit.
I know I should have taken a picture of it, but I forgot about it. The boat is a 1900 blue wave STL. Deck is all white plastic. I have a bit of experience in aviation fiberglass, composite repair. Is this something I can just use a fiber glass repair kit on and sand down? Or could this be a bigger issue? The hull is perfectly fine, just this one spot on the deck. Tbh I was thinking about putting some double bubble epoxy on it and calling it a day. I just don’t have much experience in boat repair.
Used AquaBomb on my boat after a saltwater trip, and it looks brand new! The salt is gone in seconds, and the protective layer really works. Boaters, you need this in your life!
Hey all, I know to replace the lower unit washers. So I apologize if this is a stupid question.
Issue is the previous owner of my boat torqued in the flatheads with the fury of God, and one suffered a bit because flathead + impact.
If I gotta wait for my shop to order in new screws, can I just throw the old screws back in with new gaskets just tight enough to keep oil from leaking, then swap out the screws and reuse the new washers? Or should I fish the old gadgets out of the bin and just use those and put new washers in with new screws?
Thanks
Hey all, ran my boat a few weeks ago no issues. I think it took a minute or 2 to start peeing, but it was dark so I couldn't really tell.
I got it on muffs for the first time to winterize it, but it doesn't seem to be peeing on muffs. Should i let it idle for a few mins incase it's cold and needs to warm up? For reference it's quite cool out but above freezing today.
Edit: scrapped the muffs and put it in a garbage can of water and starts pissing in seconds.
Wasn’t entirely sure where to post this. I have a pedal boat I currently store covered on the ground near a pond. It’s been infested by mice.
Any idea how to store it without having the ability to store it inside? Is there some kind of rack? It is decently heavy.
Kind of on the same note, I have a canoe I store as well, elevated about a foot off the ground and upside down - any tips for keeping spiders etc out of it?
Neither get much use because I feel like I have to power wash them before each pedal or paddle.
Any advice is much appreciated?
Hello r/boats, my dad loves boats. He currently has a 2007 310 sundancer and its his lives passion, every summer he spends more time then I can imagine on it. I want to get him something boat related for christmas but I dont know much about boats and don't know what to get him. Any suggestions are welcome!
Tidal river, there's a low bridge that restricts boat height to John/bass boats essentially, everything i find is either overkill or junk, any in between? What weight capacity should I realistically be looking at for 17' bass boat fully loaded for example?
I would like to have it platform vs straps and as wide as possible so I can have my fishing kayak on there as well. I would think $2000 would be top range of good quality? Surely that's high but I know how it goes with boat stuff. Thanks for the suggestions
Father just got a key west. Looking to get him an outboard motor cover for Christmas. Looking for recommendations. Seen what looks like a half cover and also the full cover that goes down to the prop. Which are considered better?
I work at a 27.41-meter (90-foot) yacht. We have two Samsung bubble wash and dry. There's always a problem with it. it's a pain the ass. I believe that the main problem is the sea swing that keeps messing up with it's sensors. Is there a model especially for boats that you guy recommend? One that can handle being used frequently and all the movement that the boat does.
I am looking at purchasing a new-to-me boat in a month or two. I am between a few options and would love to hear your opinions on what I am looking at. I will be using it to fish, wakeboard, waterski and tube or some days just a go out and explore the lake with visiting friends and family. I would normally be in a freshwater lake in Central Alabama though I would occasionally bring it up to Pennsylvania when I visit family during the summer so we can have a fun time out on the lakes.
2004 Yamaha AR230 with twin MR1's. for 200HP total. It has unknown hours as the dealership didnt specify. Its about $20,000. I like this one because it seems to be decent size and less than the other ones im looking at.
2008 Moomba Mobius LSV with Indmar Assault 325HP V Drive. 780 Engine hours. I have heard really good thing about Moomba boats so my eye is on this one heavily. $39,000.
2013 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV with Indmar Monsoon 350 V Drive engine. 540 Engine hours. Its $49,000. I am a bit hesitant on this one because it doesn't have a trailer but it looks to be large enough for the people I would bring on it.
I am also open to other suggestions. I would like to keep it as close to $30,000 as possible though obviously for features or quality I will pay a little more.
I am currently researching Caravel boats as part of a story I'm writing, but know absolutely nothing about boats to begin with, so I was hoping someone might be able to provide me with some help or resources related to the following questions.
I'm struggling to understand what mechanism this type of boat would have used to steer? I imagined it would have been a tiller, but then I looked at some images and now I'm not sure. Could this type of boat have been manned by 2 people? And what did the below-deck area look like? I've included an image of the caravel I'm using for inspiration.
And on a sidenote, how are boats named? Are there any general rules on what the name should sound like or include? And what happens if your boat has the same name as someone else's boat? Are all boats named?
Thank you in advance!
Anyone here interested in paint for either interior or exterior paint? Or for designs? I work in paint and am brainstorming ideas.
