I just switched from the BMPCC4K to the BMCC Full Frame. Overall, I really like the upgrade, but I thought that being full frame would significantly improve the highlight response, and I was a bit disappointed. However, the worst part has been the native ISO of 3200, which is way too noisy and makes the focus assist unusable, even at 1250. Everything looks red, and the noise blends with the focus. Has anyone else experienced this issue? How have you solved it? I hope someone at Blackmagic sees this and can improve it in a future update.
Hi, i was looking for a monitor to pair with my bmpcc6k pro and found this on Amazon. Although it looks exactly like the 3g, 6g & 12g. It seems like it's a nearly 10 years old model from only the little information i was able to find on some 9 years old youtube video. I can't find any information about this monitor on offical website. If you can give me context and information about this monitor it would be greatly apreciated.
Way cheaper than the 3g 7inch and seeems to have close to the same spec. Is it worth purchasing?
(I only need the monitor for the tools and to view the footage with accuracy, i don't care about recording)
I have a BMPCC 6K G2 with lots of accessories I’m considering offloading.
Anyone here interested in it?
I am a solo operator, shoot, direct, act, and light everything for what I do. I want to have a professional truly cinema and a professional look. I'm trying to convince myself to get a Blackmagic Cinema FF 6k because every time I see the footage I love it and compared to everything else I just prefer it. But given my circumstances and how I shoot, I feel something like the SONY FX3 would better suit my style. But I'm trying to tell myself I can make the Full Frame work.
What I am really asking is, are there any SOLO operators here that use a Full Frame 6k who can tell me what they do for focus? I know you can set up a DJI focus puller. I just wanted to know if there's any workaround or just the general experience anyone has being a solo operator with one. Any advice is helpful!
Hello! Im buying a Ursa mini pro G2 4.6K this friday. However it seems way too good of a deal. The price is 1500 usd. It comes with two V mount batteries, the charger for said batteries (dual charger). All the accesories that come default with the camera, a free lens (chinesium lens, worth like 50 usd but still a free lens) 512gb C Fast card and card reader. It also comes with the shoulder kit handle, and the crane thingy arm that attaches to the side. Also a ProBag. I don´t know, seems way too good to be true. He sent me a video of the camera working.
My question is, what should I check in order to see everything is working correctly? aside from turning on, recording and saving the video, what should I check that its important for its daily use?
title says it all.
found my OG from probably 10 years ago with a Lumix 12-35mm and a 12mm Veydra. I can't REALLY recall which lens was most used, but remember fondly the Veydra. All I do really remember is that the OG (obviously any cam) picked up those micro shakes heavily when handheld.
I'll be taking it on a motorcycle road trip. Size/ equipment is not the biggest worry and neither too much is the run n gun aspect. Filming along stops, scenic landscapes, motels, documenting the journey (really for more personal fun than anything).
what would yall take and why?
I used to shoot everything on a BMPCC4k with a Metabones speed booster and my canon FD lenses. I have since moved to Sony cameras and Sony G master lenses, as it's so much more appropriate for a lot of the work I do, corporate or run and gun, no time etc.
But, I find myself missing the beautiful look from BM cameras. Its a shame I can't use my Sony lenses on any of the BM cameras, thats correct isn't it?
So I see you can get an adapter to use Canon FD lenses on the 6k, and the adapter seems fairly cheap. Or I could get a BMPCC4k again and another Metabones speed booster (expensive)
Would anyone reccomend one way of the other?
Personally I'd rather have the 6k pro, for the ND filters, articulating screen, and larger sensor
But I'm open to suggestions! thanks
I’m an architecture photographer looking to move into video and have been going around and around trying to decided on a camera. Finally I think the 6k might be what I’m looking for but wanted to get some thoughts from people who know a lot more than I do about tbe camera
I will shoot buildings and short interviews and wanted to check a few things
I use use tripods and sliders but also do some hand helps shots. Can tbe camera be hand held ok?
Can braw be edited in FCP? It doesn’t have to be Davinci?
The other cameras I have been looking at are the R5c and C70 and the c70 looked a good option as apparently you can use to without a rig which would suit me well.
Could the BMPCC be used without a rig?
Thanks
Heya folks,
I'm looking for the most cost effective solution to get my replay editor integrated with my live sports streaming set up.
Currently I'm just looping an HDMI feed from the laptop that is doing the Replay right to my ATEM Mini. Then the replay editor (when they're ready) full screens their display and we have to sync together to get it to air. No ideal. But we didn't have the money for the added piece of gear at the time.
Now that we've got time to implement the replay properly, I'm wondering if simply using the Monitor 3G to output the replay will work the exact same way as the ultrastudio 4k.
Because I've never used the replay with an ultrastudio, will the edit happen automatically when the replay editor pushes run? Will it work the same with the Monitor 3G?
We're only taking in 1080p60 (max).
Hello, I'm not sure if the issue is due to a setting I missed or if it's a bug.
When I try to shoot on my Pyxis in HFR 60fps with the project frame rate set to 60fps, the image keeps jumping on my monitor (BM Video Assist 5 12G. I also tried with another HDMI monitor). However, when I shoot in 60fps but set the project frame rate to 24fps, the image is transmitted perfectly to my monitor.
Do you know what might be causing this issue?
Thank you!
Heya! Recently got a Pyxis pl mount and have been using it for the last few days on a shoot using sdi protocol. Everything’s been fine up until this morning where I swapped over to super 16 mode all was still working, then after shooting for a bit we then switched back to 6k 16:9 and the footage wasn’t coming through on the monitor, turned everything off still nothing coming through still following SDI protocol. Then swapped back to super 16 to check and I can get that footage and hd footage on the monitor however anything above the super 16 mode just will not come through. The weirdest part was I never even touched the cable or monitor simply just switched the resolution. Used a different SDI cable and still the same issue and not too sure what to do any advice would be incredible!!
(will have to turn up the volume on the video to hear the issue)
Hey all, I'm kinda flabbergasted here and wanted your opinions.
Starting today, when I've placed my Canon FD 35mm Simmod-lens-mounted EF lens onto my Pocket 6K, the Pocket's mount makes this electronic whirring sound, like it's trying to connect to something? It's only with this lens and it only starts making that noise as soon as the little pin on the mount goes down as I place the lens on the mount.
It doesn't appear to do this with any other lens, and it's not every single time I use this 35mm lens. Do y'all have any idea what might be happening here before I mention this to Blackmagic themselves? The camera is still under warranty, it was purchased in springtime, so I'm covered on that front.
Many thanks in advance!
Hi there ! Last night, I shot the video for a friend'sperformance. Because it was low light, I shot it raw to have as much data as I could in post to get her the best image quality.
The file is roughly 110gigs.
I've exported it but would like to keep a copy with as much data as possible for the future (if she wants whataver with it) but not at that file size. Any recommandation ?
Hey folks, I have an OG BMPCC, based on the UK and of course the first issue to tackle is battery life. I'm looking for advice as to what external battery and presumably, rig or some sort of frame that attaches said battery to the camera.
Any advice on must have accessories are welcome.
I'm shooting pretty much just for my own enjoyment to be clear and have little experience with cameras beyond casual usage.
On a side note, I'd also be curious as to whether there's a way to get direct audio recorded from an external source? For example, if shooting a synthesizer, whether I can directly route audio from said synth into the BMPCC to avoid having to sync up two separate files later in the edit.
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this Baseplate, but I can not find any pictures of the under side of it anywhere. If you own this baseplate can you please post a pic of the bottom of the plate. Very intrigued to see what it looks like and what mounting options are on it.
I had posted asking if a battery was necessary for DC power to work since my DC power does not seem to work.
Thank you for your replies. Suggestion was to get a new DC power, which I just tried and it does not power the camera.
So it would seem like my DC power connector doesn’t work. Is there a battery adapter to DC power?
I have something similar for my Canon. It’s a battery with a wire that connect to a DC power supply. Does in exist for the BMPCC 4K ?
[edit] Seems these things are called Dummy batteries. BMPCC battery is LP-E6. My question is does anyone have any recommendations? Does it work with the battery door open since there does not seem to be a hole for a power cable to connect
I'm directing a shortfilm this weekend. I will be shooting with an X-H2s. 90% of the scenes are setted at night, in the streets, so we will be using just the street lights. The final output should be in B&W and i was hoping to take advantage of the open gate to shoot in 3:2 aspect ratio. I already did some tests both in BRAW (Q3 not higher cause in 6,2K files are huge) and H265 (F-log2 with NR turned to -4 and 360Mbps) shooting at around 10000 ISO. Both images turned out very noisy, but the BRAW has significantly more noise, and it's a very electronic one. And i can't get completely rid of It using DaVinci NR. The image still remains a bit noisy. In H265 instead i found an overall more pleasing noise, It seemed almost film grain. And i had a lot less problems when trying to reduce It in post (https://youtu.be/tYy7ErK986k?si=Wd9C2ghps4LuYT-g the last scene in the forest was shot at 10000ISO and i had no problems dealing with noise reduction)
Am i using BRAW the wrong way? Or H265 (or Prores to have even more information) is more suited when shooting in low Light situations? I never used Prores but i think the workflow should be the same of H265
(i know that considering the final results should be in B&W i shouldn't care if the noise Is very electronic, but It would be nice to know what should i use in lowlight for future projects)
