The pentatonic scale is a go-to for many bass players and has been featured in countless hit songs.
In this video, I'm going to show you the two main pentatonic scales as well as a bonus scale that's related to the pentatonic scale. We'll explore 6 musical examples from simple beginner bass lines to more advance bass fills which all use one of the scales.

In this video, we dive deep into the life and story of the legendary bassist, James Jamerson. So, whether you're a fan of Motown or just love great bass playing, this video is a must-watch!
Jamerson's unique style and virtuosity have made him one of the most influential bassists in the history of music. His melodic and intricate bass lines were a defining feature of the Motown sound and can be heard on countless hits by artists like The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and The Jackson 5.

Hello there!
I'm a newcomer to this sub, so please forgive me if this is not the right place to ask this. I'm a fan of the blues, from delta to blues rock. I am learning blues guitar, both acoustic and electric. I would like to learn to play bass for blues as well, and I want to buy a bass guitar and a bass amp. I come to you asking for recommendations.
My budget for both the bass guitar and amp combined is about $2000 AUD ($1500 USD) but I'm willing to go a couple of hundred higher to get the right equipment. Ideally, I would want to buy a good bass that will serve me well as my one and only bass going forward. I have no professional aspirations, so it's just to play at home and maybe in the future in informal gigs. I appreciate a good sound, but may be oblivious to the finer nuances.
So, let me frame my question this way. If you were me, what bass guitar and bass amp would you think of buying, if the goal is to play blues and blues rock with as good a sound as that money can afford? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Thought I'd share this Slow blues bass backing track (E)

HAPPY JAMMING!
Hey gang, I’ve been playing bass for just over a year. Been jamming with some people who really love the Blues. Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf....etc. I’ve learned a lot and having been having the time of my life learning songs, trying to train my ear, and writing the odd bass line or two. Is anyone aware of or could recommend any book to study? I can read music. I’m working on outlining chords. I’d love to be able to come up with my own ideas for some of these covers we do, but want to make sure I stay true to the genre. I don’t know many rules so I’m probably breaking them all. Thanks in advance for any tips and suggestions you might have.
Thought I'd share this Blues bass backing track with you guys!
Hope you enjoy... happy jamming!

Hello all,
I'm a novice bass player, and working my way to play with confidence at my local blues jam.
I've started to learn some blues standards to help me hang when I get up on stage. I've learned:
A couple questions for you all:
What were the first standards that you learned?
Did you know any before going on stage for your first jam?

I used different forms of tapping for this blues in A major. In the prelude I used mostly melodic lines, as in unison with the guitar of the first 12 bars. Then the bass becomes polythromic and polyphonic by first playing two feel and then walking bass with the left hand and chords with the right hand. There are also some combinations of this technique with slap.

To the left of the screen (left channel), the Bass in its specific function plays a "two feel" in the first 12 measures and then a "walking bass". In the center of the screen (both channels) a second Bass in harmonic function plays the chords. Finally, to the right of the screen (right channel) the Bass in melodic function plays melody and solo. Composition and arrangement: Guillermo Martín Las Heras

I've just started a new series wherein I demonstrate various styles of blues bass lines, and provide brief explanations on some of the defining qualities of the lines.
Bit of background on me: I'm a university educated jazz guitarist and I tour with a Canadian Blues artist named JW Jones, who has been to 23 countries, 4 continents, and been nominated for a JUNO award.
Please feel free to DM me if you have any questions about the videos, general bass info, or just want to chat!

I'm usually the bassist in bands, but this time I'm singing and playing rhythm guitar. So I need to find a bassist. We're doing blues based music. Standard electric blues and blues rock, but also country (and Piedmont) blues. Sort of general real Americana. Reach out if interested.
I put together some bass lines at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfKnc25Kc2E Cheers :)
I just heard that song last week and I LOVE the groove. If anybody has it tabbed out, I'd appreciate it. I checked google and some of the more common tab sites and didn't find it.
See the original post for an Imgur I just posted on the subject. Sorry for the hassle getting to it. Relative noob here just trying to help.
