Looking for help finding my Mum's best friend

I'm looking for help finding my Mum's best friend from her teenage years. I won't post too much personal information here, but I would be happy to provide for anyone who could help! He has a quite common name which is making things difficult, and we believe he may have moved countries from the UK to Blenheim sometime in the late 2000s.

Any help would be much appreciated! Please PM me for details.

Join winery mid-harvest

Hi all! I had a plan to start at a large winery in Blenheim February 25th for a 7 week contract. However, due to some family complications, my travels may be delayed until March 14th or so. Does anyone know if wineries would still be looking for workers if I just arrived in mid-March? Or would I find it fairly difficult to find a position for the rest of harvest, given initial safety trainings would have already happened?

Fwiw, I’m a 27 y/o male from the States and am very excited to experience the outdoors life in NZ :)

Any help is appreciated!

Vineyards open on Sundays

Hello! Planning a visit to NZ end of April but our only full day in The region will be a Sunday. Having a hard time discerning if wineries will be open. Thank you for any feedback!

Cheapest way to visit Marlborough wineries?

We're a couple Canadians coming into Blenheim on the Coastal Pacific at 12:20pm and our ferry out of Picton is at 6:30pm (check-in at 5:30pm). We're hoping to visit a few wineries in between that time but were quoted $900 for a private driver which is definitely beyond our budget. Renting a car is about the same.

As I understand, there's no Uber and very little taxi service which is very similar to where we're from (coincidentally enough, a little town called Picton in Ontario which is right near Wellington as well. Funny how that works!).

I would normally take bikes like we do around here however we're on a tight timeline and would prefer something faster between stops. Any recommendations?

Also, and I know this may seem odd, but would anyone here be open to driving us around for the afternoon on Tuesday February 25th? Pick us up in Blenheim just after noon, take us to three or four wineries, and then drop us off in Picton before 5:30pm? We would be willing to "donate" $50/hr or $300 total for your gas/etc.

If you want to know more about us, inbox me and we can talk details but we're super easy going and just as happy to engage in conversation or not! You could also join us at the wineries as well if you're into it (without drinking), but again, just an offer and we totally understand if you just want to drive us and make the money!

Introducing myself

G'day all, just figured I'd go full attention whore and introduce myself to this subreddit.

I'm John Eaton, and I work at KFC Blenheim for a quasi-living (live with my folks still at 22, but that's all right, I'm sure most people here do the same) Mon-Fri.

Lived here all my life and whilst I love it here, there are some things that I would really like to see improved but I won't discuss that here. I'm sure there are other subreddits for that!

Information on the cost of living

Hi ! My family and I are trying to figure out if we can afford moving to Blenheim. We are 2 young adults with 2 young children. Rent prices are fairly easy to find online, but I cannot quite figure out daily expenses (mostly groceries) and utilities cost. What would you consider a reasonable weekly or monthly budget for these ? Thank you !
