Hey guys new to blacksmithing. ( wife got me a forge and anvil for Christmas (: ) I'm making these little hooks out of 3/8 round bar. My question is. Is there a significant difference between using hot rolled steel vs cold rolled steel? At my local steel mill it's like a 10 cents per foot price difference.

My wife is a godsend as she is helping with the building and totally encouraging my pursuit.
Well rambled enough...

First off, I live in Denver... So this is for the local folk.
I'm downsizing my living arrangements, so I'm cleaning out my garage. Rather than recycling all of my metal stuff, I'd rather it go to someone who can use it.
I've got a few hammers, and tools. I've also got a bunch of random metals, including a couple of forklift tines, and a piece of cylindrical metal that I've also used as an anvil.
As for bigger tools, I've got a chop saw, and a band saw that need homes...oh, and a post vice
Hit me up privately, and we can set up a time for you to come rummage for what you want.
Certainly enough stuff to set up a serviceable shop.
Edit: there's a good workbench too
