•How soon after having unprotected sex should you get an STD Test?

•What are some ways to lower the chances of you getting an STD in the future?

•If you test positive for an STD after having unprotected sex, what steps should you take to stay safe?

"He came inside me"

Today's Aftercare discussion is all about coming into contact with semen when having unprotected sex and potential pregnancies. Some scenarios to consider:

1.) When you aren't on birth control (and pregnancy is not wanted)

-What are some examples of emergency contraceptives and how can you maximize the efficiency of them?

-How soon after having unprotected sex should you take a pregnancy test? Additionally, how fast can someone become pregnant after unprotected sex?

-What options are available for unwanted pregnancies?

2.) When you are on birth control

-How effective are the different birth control methods?

-Should you still wear condoms while on birth control?

3.) When you both are trying for baby

-What are some ways you can maximize the chances of pregancy?

-What are some lifestyle changes you can make to prepare for pregnancy?

TOPIC OF THE WEEK: Sex & Aging

Hello everyone! I know, I know... It's been about...a year? since the last post on the subreddit and I sincerely apologize. I've been able to regain moderation access, and we're ready to get the sub back up and running again!

I thought it would be nice to focus these upcoming topics around what sex will be like as you get older and experience the changes that your body goes through while aging.

This would be a great time to comment any topics you'd like to be discussed or to just share any thoughts you might have.

Yay to the grand re-opening of r/blacksexualhealth🎉🎉😂

Participants Needed! Simulation study sexual health chatbot (UK Sample +18)

Hiya for my final year year project, I am carrying out a simulation study on a intimate health chatbot that aims to remove the stigma surrounding sexual health and increase uptake for STI testing without having to talk to a person. African and Caribbean are one of the most effected minority ethnic groups and have one of the lowest STI take up rates in the UK. One reason is related to social stigma and this chatbot aims to change this by directing people to the correct services in the UK and what signs you should look for.

To increase participation there is a £100 prize draw that you can enter at the end of the survey, it will have a separate link so you response will be anonymous. https://westminsterpsych.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7ZLuZVDPLKiFEpM

I need 300 responses if you can share it with friends it will be very much appreciated :)

Many thanks

Today is International "Thank You" Day!

Since this week's topic is all about relationships, when is the last time you showed gratitude towards your partner?

Studies show that expressing gratitude towards your partner can lead to healthier relationships and stronger connections between each other.

Today is the perfect day to take some time and tell your partner of the things that you appreciate about them as well as share some of them in the comments below.

Maybe you have a hard time knowing how to express your gratitude? Do any of you have different ways you can express gratitude towards your partner?

What are some ways to set boundaries with your partner?

Today's Relationships & Dating discussion is on setting boundaries with a partner. Whether it be a new relationship and you want to be clear on what things you are comfortable with with your new partner, or it be a current relationship and there have been some things you want to bring up with your current partner, every relationship prospers when both people feel that they are being respected.

When it comes to setting boundaries, it is not limited to sexual boundaries, and this thread is open for discussing any type of boundary you may have been wanting to set.

No Pleasure from Vaginal Sex

My wife of 15 years does not get pleasure from vaginal sex. She’s aroused and climax from clitoral stimulation, but does not get pleasure from intercourse. It’s bothered me because it makes me think I’m not “big enough”, despite her reassurances (I’m about 7” erect, average girth). What she feels during intercourse is the pressure and the sensations of the stroke but it does not turn her on. Suggestions?

-For men: Is there a difference in how circumcised men and non-circumcised men should clean themselves?

-When should body odor become a serious concern?

Do any of you have any other questions you may want answered?

OPEN DISCUSSION: Direction of the Subreddit

Hello, all! It has been a while since we have seen posts on the subreddit, and I sincerely apologize. I would like to avoid this becoming a dead subreddit because I do feel as if this is a very important one to have for the black community. That being said, Topic of the Day posts will resume, but an issue I have been having with that, is that I have a hard time finding new topics to discuss everyday. I have some topics lined up for the next few days, but if any of you have any topic of the day suggestions, you are welcome to either DM me or leave a comment on any post about your suggestion!

Also, I would like to ask if there are any changes you all would like to see within the subreddit or if there is something you are unhappy with about the subreddits moderation.

I would like to increase the user participation for the subreddit, and I want to make sure everyone feels as if they are being heard.

Thanks so much for your patience,

u/kei_jonai

TOPIC OF THE DAY: Semen

This is quite a broad subject and a very important one to discuss. Some questions to consider: How is semen produced? How long can semen survive in a vagina versus how long it can survive outside of the vagina? Do men ever run out of it? Does sperm determine the sex of a baby? How can semen indicate whether or not a man has an STI/STD? Are there ways to improve the quality of your sperm?

Are there any more questions or comments you'd like to make about semen?
