Post pictures of your dogs on here. That's kinda the whole reason why I made this subreddit.

You can post pictures of multiple dogs, dog rescues, and anything else BMC related.

My late Tazzy with my late Zacky on a walk. (I think 2019? Taz would have been about 18. He passed in 2020 about 6 months later)

I'll never shut up about my beautiful babies. Love you forever, my little ones. đź’ś

Black Mouth Cur girl

Hello! I am going to be talking to a foster about adopting a BMC girl, a little over a year old. She was saved from the euthanasia list and seems like an all-around great dog! She was very loved but unfortunately lost her owner and ended up in a shelter with her sister. She was saved and is being fostered near me. I don’t know much about the breed but we are a family of 4, two small kids and my husband and I work full-time but I have a dog-friendly office with a big yard. We own the building and our owner brings his dog often. I could also do doggy daycare to keep her exercised. She’s listed as a mix so I’m unsure if her exact energy level yet - talking to the foster soon, but I want to make sure we could keep her stimulated! My kids will play with her endlessly and I’d walk her daily. We have a large, but not fenced in yard. She’s listed as housebroken and great on a leash. She just really seems awesome and a good-fit.

I want a snuggly dog and my husband wants a “woof” dog and not a “yap” dog if that makes sense. Low maintenance grooming would be great too and average shedding is fine! I’d love to keep up with her training.

Do you think a BMC would work for us? I just want to be sure we can give her what she needs, she sounds amazing.

Picky eater.

Does anyone have a BMC who's a picky eater? She barely manages to eat 3 cups a day of her own food and doesn't like pig's ears, that alone is strange to me. She's 8mo. old and has been like that the past 4 months I had her. I never give her people food but if you would let her she would eat whatever you just ate right out of your mouth. "She tries" . Normally I give her, her Kong with peanut butter when we eat around her just to have some peace. Last night just to see what happens, I put her food dish next to us at meal time just to see if she simply wanted to eat with us. That didn't work, she ate maybe 4 pieces of her food and started to beg. So I just got her Kong again.

Feeding 4 Month Puppy

Just rescued a 4 month old puppy and kind of confused at the brands of food/feeding directions. For instance, the purina puppy chow says they should eat 2-3 cups a day but the pedigree puppy food says they should eat 4-5 cups. I’ve been doing about 4 cups since he is emaciated but is that normal? I’ve only had smaller dogs so if I sound dumb I’m sorry!

My BMC/Boxer mix is super tiny (11-12 weeks)

As title states. He is 9.5-9.7 pounds at this age. Just wondering if he will ever be a decent size? Thanks

Training tips for food aggression?

My girl is 2 years old and I have had her for over a year. She has come a very long way in such a short amount of time. When I got her, she was nervous all the time and now she is much calmer. We have no idea what her background is, but she came to us with a fair amount of food aggression (growling when too close to her food, snapping at other dogs when she’s eating, etc).

We started feeding her separately when visiting family with other dogs, but slowly but surely have been training her to eat with them during feeding time. This has gone pretty well. Up until yesterday, when she really seemed to regress (Thanksgiving meant a lot of food smells were in the air and this seemed to trigger her when around the other dogs).

She snapped at my brother’s lab when we were just about to feed them. Unfortunately, my brother was in the crosshairs and she nicked his leg.

At this point I’m very desperate to put an end to the food aggression for good - and fast. At first, I thought she was only giving warnings but now I know she is actually capable of hurting someone. She is truly such a sweetheart and I’m willing to try anything to reverse this unwelcome behavior.

I’m open to hearing any and all tips from people who have experienced similar behavior! Thank you so much!

This will make you laugh

So my husband fell asleep in the reclining chair and accidentally his false teeth fell out and the next morning he was like searching frantically around the house and I’m like what are you doing and he’s like my teeth are missing and he never shows me his mouth without his teeth and we were looking all over and finallyfound them out in the backyard and the dog was chewing on them. Needless to say we were very late for our family event so thanks to our black mouth cur, it was just hilarious and a memory were not likely to forget!

Breed guesses?

Bottom puppy is my new baby. Not sure what breed. Him and my other dog are from the same shelter and they’re the same age. They might be siblings my first pups mom was taken to the shelter to have all the babies. They also act pretty much the same which is why I’m also thinking they may be related. Would love to know if others think of what he may be!

Tucked in for bed time

He is a very dramatic blanket burrower. I always laugh when he enjoys and stays tucked in for hours.
