A place for cyclist of all kind to hang out!
/r/bikehouston
No photo, but if anyone here has ridden the White Oak Bayou within a day or two of a heavy rain, you'll remember just how awful the mud and silt can get.
Tuesday, during my commute, I slipped in a deep nasty patch of that mud and really messed up my shoulder. What can I do to help advocate for some sort of improvement to this issue? I love commuting on this path because it's away from cars, but the mud is horrendous.
Hey y’all would really appreciate some help finding a route from Montrose to my new work place in bellaire. Before I worked in spring branch and i could ride the trails/blossom st most the way but this is foreign territory for me. Any helps is appreciated!!!!

As the title states, what is the ballpark time at which riders complete the MS150 in college station?
I have to catch an evening flight in Houston (6pm) and want to confirm I’ll be back in Houston by 4pm.
I’m not a fast or seasoned rider and plan to take the burton leap ahead in order to finish as fast as possible. My dad will be picking me up in college station as soon as I cross the finish line.
I have never done a MS150 so any information helps!
Thanks!!
So construction is underway on the required bridge on the east side of 59 needed to join the Brays Bayou to Arthur Storey trails (concrete pillars being constructed).
Also progress on the Sims Bayou trail.
Please be on the lookout for a 2014 Gunnar road bike 54cm in lime green and a 2018 Niner Sir9 medium 27.5 with hope hubs. Stolen from my garage within the past week. Police report has been filed. Thanks!

Does this count without the snow?
Hi everyone! I’m looking to rent a 54cm road bike for 14 days in mid-February. It’ll primarily be for casual rides during that period. I know about EaDo Bike Rentals, but for a rental of this length, it could get a bit pricey. So, I’m hoping someone might have a spare bike I could rent at a more affordable rate. If you or someone you know can help, I’d greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much in advance! 🙌

Entrance to BCM. Trickier to get to than normal due to the marathon.
I've got a spare day in Houston in very early February and I'm thinking I might bring my bike as I'm fed up with the English winter and not riding outside and hope Texas can help me out.
I hear mixed things but google and reddit keeps mentioning the Bayou trails? Does anyone have any recommednations for routes? I'd like to keep off the main roads, I just don't know them well and I'm not a US native so the rules of the road aren't always clear, especially with an F150 up my ass.
I'll be in a Hotel by the Galleria over in Post Oak and would be looking to do rides around 40-60 miles. I don't mind getting on public transport if there is any to get to a better area for riding, otherwise I guess I could ride up to Memorial Park and start there?
Route recommendations would be hugely appreciated.
Secondly, weather..... Today looks to be sunny and 61 yet in two days it's 30-40 and snow?! Crazy. Is this typical and likely to be the same in early feb?

Howdy all! I recently got this trek FX2, and have gotten into road riding. I downloaded chasing watts and have been looking into more rides, but thought I’d come here to see if anyone was looking for the same kind of rides/pals!
So far I’m looking for rides in the 13-18 mile range, at a 12-15 mph average pace.

The pond at Flora on the bayou.
Nice shot and a tough angle, disappointed I couldn’t find this sooner. I didn’t realize the trail in this spot had gravel.
Bought a road bike at goodwill, didn't realize it had tubs, if anyone has any clinchers (seriously, any rideable clinchers) I would love to buy them or ideally trade them for these tubs. Barring that, if anyone wants to buy a pair of Araya Red 700c tubs, I would love to sell them. Thanks!
.... you might want to start working to get them out.
It's not written anywhere but it was stated today that there are 4000 to 5000 bikes in the Evidence Room and that space is about to get emptied out.

Houston Parks Board just put this on their Facebook feed:
White Oak Bayou Greenway and MKT Heights Hike-and-Bike Trail Detour Alert!
Beginning January 13th, portions of the White Oak Bayou Greenway and MKT Trail in the Studemont area will be temporarily closed for safety during TxDOT's demolition of I-10 westbound outside lanes. All work is estimated to be complete by early February. The area under I-10 will have a full trail closure during this demolition phase. Detours will be provided for White Oak Bayou Greenway and MKT Trail. Message boards will be placed in advance to keep the public informed. Please do not enter any areas with barricades and/or signage for your safety.
This closure is the first of several that will take place as part of TxDOT’s I-10 Inner Katy Corridor project. For more information, check out the detour map: https://arcg.is/14zTaz3
We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure everyone’s safety during this time. Q's? Contact TxDOT at at HOU-PIOWebmail@txdot.gov or 713.802.5076.
I remember a few years ago, the picnic loop (despite having terrible pavement) was my staple spot to ride during the week because it was closed to cars on during the day on weekdays.
I saw they were repaving it and was elated to finally have roads all to ourselves that weren’t in terrible shape!
But I rode over there yesterday mid-day, and tons of cars were on the loop. They seem to have removed the other road access to the parking lots, so their solution is just to leave the loop open to traffic all the time (except after sunset when it’s closed to everyone) now.
Am I missing something or did they just quietly get rid of this amazing car-free spot to ride?
(rant) The cars also come straight off Memorial Dr so they speed onto the loop, often cutting me off I’ve found if I’m coming up to that entrance, despite me going over the 20mph speed limit and cornering faster than them. It’s truly frustrating that it was too much to have a single car-free road loop to ride on. (/rant)
Anybody know of any other spots like this that I’m missing out on?
EDIT: Apparently it’s closed to cars 7pm-9am Mon-Thurs, and (as far as I can find on archive.org) was always this way. I guess just back before they fixed it up nobody went over there, versus now there’s nearly a constant stream of traffic which makes interval training nearly impossible on the loop now.

Pretty memorable building, but I had seen it recently test riding from West End Bicycles.
Hi all! I am riding in the MS 150 for the first time this year. Please give me any tips you have! I am also trying to figure out good places to ride where I can get distance in. TIA

I have 2 Bromptons that are in excellent condition that I would like to sell. I travel in an RV and am in the Houston area for a few weeks. Does anyone know of a bike shop that would purchase these?
