Q&A or info about anything related to bike fit. Fitters, cyclists, bike shops, and bike manufacturers are all welcome. We cover Road, MTB, Time Trial, or Triathlon. We don't discuss particular components or frames unless it is directly related to bike fit. Please read the Suggestions for Submitting pinned post before asking questions about your position.
There are lots of resources online regarding bike fit and discomfort while riding, I highly suggest trying some research as well as searching past threads here before posting.
No question is a bad question, this can be a great place to learn about what can be done to make your riding comfortable and pain free.
If you're posting your position on the bike, please describe what problems or issues you are having.
The same position for two different riders can be a vastly different experience due to flexibility, conditioning, and more.
Posting 'how does this look?' without describing a problem or goal will lead to vague advice that may not benefit you.
Additionally, if you've just had a fit and are experiencing discomfort, follow up with them before you ask us!

Third year on road bike, doing around 10k km/year including some racing. No particular pain although sometimes feel pressure on hands, which could be because the seat is too forward (maxed out on rails) but also due to my upper body weight (doing gym work and don't exactly have climber physique). I can pass the balance test under load. Saddle height feels right, higher doesn't work and lower induces too much quad engagement. Reach maybe feels too long?
How does this look? What would you change if goal is moderately aggressive fit? Thanks a lot for any feedback!
did a lot of climbing earlier and gave me lot of pain in my lower back. Currently running a 60mm stem thank you
After buying new 50mm carbon wheels they feel very unstable even on 10km/h wind (let alone descents). Wonder if that is due to incorrect position on the bike. Any thoughts?
I have a what seems like a 100mm stem on my specialized allez and the reach feels a little bit longer to me. I am trying to find a 90mm stem, maybe, what angles should I be looking at. My current one says this and I am unsure if that means a -8 degree angle. Is this what +16/-8 mean? On the stem, it says "rise is angle closest to the dot".
I don't have any back/neck aches but do feel like my hands are usually stretched out a bit too much, elbows arent exactly locked but it's pretty close to that.
Also any recommendations on stems? I am not looking anything fancy...
I apologize if this is a dumb question. I'm new to using cycling to train vs just riding around town.
I'm set up on an indoor trainer. The bike saddle just feels uncomfortable after 45minutes. I can survive by standing up etc. I am wearing padded shorts. On my weekday rides up to 1.5 hrs I just wear unpadded spandex. I was able to ride for 5 hours today.
I've seen people say indoor trainers are just uncomfortable because there's less movement in the bike and in your body positioning vs outside.
Is the fact that I'm able to ride for so long mean the saddle works for me? Are they just always going to be a bit uncomfortable? I can return the one I have and keep looking - or should I just stick with it and try to dial in the fit/placement to make it more comfortable?
My Velofit says everything is generally in range but I still don’t feel 100% comfy.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've had this bike for 5 years, bought it used. Never considered a bikefit. Recently started riding further and started feeling like my arms lock up. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated thank you. Also considering investing in clipless.
First- this bike is definitely too big for me (5’10” and a 60cm frame) but I’m going for a “French fit” and have tried compensating for top tube length (58cm) with a shorter 7cm stem.
I’m going for a randonneur / touring fit and am wondering if there are any glaring issues with my fit as-is. My main discomfort is neck/shoulders but I’m unsure if that’s more of a fitness issue than a fit issue.
3 positions in the video: ramps, drops, and hoods. Video attached, bike pic in the comments.
Thanks!
(Posted that with a Image illustration, but it got removed for 18+). Basically my saddle pressure is far foward my seatbones. Somewhere on the pubic area, perineum sides or something like that going to the tights.
I already posted here before about my saddle problems. I'm facing it through years and only gets worse. I already had bikefits, changed saddle multiple times, rode with low saddle, high saddle, cleats backwards, cleats fowards, 100mm stem, 90mm stem, lowered sti, highered stis, tilts, etc.
Basically, I never gets stable on the saddle. The one that I liked more, and its the last one I rode for more time is a Prologo Scratch M5 140mm. I'm always changing positions due to pressure points. The main pressure is at my perineal sides (on the edge of the perineum and my inner legs/butt). I get home full of pain and with red skin. No matter what bibs I use, what saddles I tested. Some more, others less. But the problem is always there
Some said my bike was "too long". So I decided to change it and bought a new frameset. (SuperSix EVO 2020). Indeed a little shorter reach, with more spacers available than my other bike. Got a video of me riding and I feel that I'm curving my lowerback too much (maybe because of the pain, so I try to keep may butt on the saddle and not the thighs).
I gave up changing saddles, since everybody says saddles can be ok when well positioned. And due to the fact that I already tested a bunch of saddles. So please, don't tell me to buy SQLabs or SMP (these are not available at my country and very expensive and ugly).
I really would like to know if anyone had problem like this and how solve it.
I noticed that the Tarmac SL8 in size 52 has stack / reach of 527/380 whereas the size 54 is 544/384. Since both have the same seat tube angle of 74 degrees, doesn't that mean the seating position relative to the BB will be the exact same? And therefore, the only change in fit between these 2 frames is the difference in stack / reach of +17 stack and +4 reach? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything as I'm pretty new at this. Seems like with just a tiny increase in reach, you get a decent increase in stack which makes the 54 a bit less aggressive than the 52.
I’ve been using my gravel bike as a road bike since it is too small (55cm) I’m 6’1 but it works out to be similar geometry to road bikes that would be my size. How does the fit look?
No pain just looking for improvements
Hi all,
Before spending money on a bikefit I would first like to know if I could tackle my problem myself.
Mostly, could a smaller handle bar have a positive impact on my wrist pain.
More info on the situation:
I recently bought a new mountainbike, but after riding it for approximately 1h30 my wrists and hands start hurting, especially my right wrist. I try to switch up my hand position as best I can but it doesn't help.
With my old mountainbike I never had this issue (also never had it with my road bike).
Saddle height is the same, handle bar height almost the same. I just remembered I didn't measure the distance between the handle bars and saddle, but I can't imagine it will be a big difference.
What is a big difference, is the width of my handlebars. Comparing to my old bike, the handlebars on my new on are much wider (76cm vs 64cm).
Could a smaller handlebar fix my wrist pain? Or would I be better off with just going to a professional for a bikefit?
I read a lot of replies here saying to pitch the seat up or tip it down more. I didn't know seats could do that. Possibly because mine doesn't. Lol
If they can't all do it, then I think it's a feature I'll want to look for in a replacement.
I am 6.2 bike size 60cm initially built with road bars but frame felt too big and I changed to jones h bars.although its a surly, steerer tube is cut n can’t raise the handlebars anymore. Not after any performance just want to be comfortable long days on the saddle. Current state is like I am not stable on the saddle, keep sliding forward if i let go of the bars, left outside knee hurts sometimes shoulders too. No options for pro bike fit anywhere near, no plans to upgrade to a different bike. Kindly also advise on the saddle setback and height. They are adjusted just according to my feel
Hi redditors. Can u guys check my fit? Can already hold aero hoods now about 5mins per set on a trainer
I dropped the saddle down 30mm and then raised it back until it felt about right. It's a bit lower than before
The lower neck pain increases after an hour of ride usually and strain in lower back is barely anything. I try to keep head down consciously but didn't work
Everyone was so helpful last time. I’ve done 4 hours on the bike after last post (mainly to lower my seat post). Felt good but my butt was definitely feeling it.
New saddle finally came in. How does this look now?
I ran through a few gears here and pedaling at 85-90rpm which is my usual.
My inner thighs are slightly rubbing on the saddle nose, but I’m hoping that won’t be an issue.
Thank you!
If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,
The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.
Ride on!
This is my initial position after adding aerobar and changing to tri specific saddle. My seatpost is still 0 offset. Back is still not flat as I am not yet confident on going lower just yet. Any recommendation on what i need to change. Thanks!
Continue to have ischial tuberosity pain, worse on the left on both my XC bikes and indoors. Had multiple fits, done tons of self experimentation, currently in PT to help with right sided muscle weakness due to a back injury years ago, think it finally caught up to me. Overall I've tried multiple saddles, etc. I tried to mimic the saddle height etc on my indoor bike as much since I don't have a trainer for my XC bikes. I have the same saddles on all bikes now, a heat molding Reform saddle, left side seems to have a bigger dent.
I’ve owned a peloton for years, but have only ridden it a few times, as each time I have pretty decent knee pain. I ride my bicycle with the same positioning and don’t have these issues. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Thank you so much in advance, try excited that I found this amazing subreddit.
Lifted saddle height by like 3mm and set back saddle by 5mm. Seemed to help relieve a bit of the hand pressure. Any feedback for this fit?
how should i measure my shoulder to know which dropbar length to buy?
