Q&A or info about anything related to bike fit. Fitters, cyclists, bike shops, and bike manufacturers are all welcome. We cover Road, MTB, Time Trial, or Triathlon. We don't discuss particular components or frames unless it is directly related to bike fit. Please read the Suggestions for Submitting pinned post before asking questions about your position.
There are lots of resources online regarding bike fit and discomfort while riding, I highly suggest trying some research as well as searching past threads here before posting.
No question is a bad question, this can be a great place to learn about what can be done to make your riding comfortable and pain free.
If you're posting your position on the bike, please describe what problems or issues you are having.
The same position for two different riders can be a vastly different experience due to flexibility, conditioning, and more.
Posting 'how does this look?' without describing a problem or goal will lead to vague advice that may not benefit you.
Additionally, if you've just had a fit and are experiencing discomfort, follow up with them before you ask us!

I have a road bike with 155mm cranks and I have a mountain bike with 175mm cranks, both came with the bikes when I bought them used. Would there be significant effects on my body in the long run if I frequently use both? I'm more comfortable on the 155 btw.
is this a zero offset seatpost?
Sorry if this is a dumb or overly broad question, but I've been trying to figure this out. I had a Retul fit 3.5 years ago on a prior bike, and tried to align those numbers with my current bike. I think either my reach is a bit too long or my saddle too far forward, because I'm getting hand numbness and some minor wrist pain on long rides.
When I'm really fresh, I get minimal pain/numbness but when I'm a bit more tired I feel my back arching more and more weight on my hands.
Since I feel good when I'm fresh, would you say that's a sign my reach may be OK and just need core/stability work maybe? Or would you take the hand discomfort when tired as a sign the fit itself needs revisited?
I'm hoping to lose 20-25 lbs over the winter so I'm hesitant to get a full fit right now in case that changes anything come spring. It's also too cold for me to get really long rides in over the winter where I'd experience this discomfort, so I'm trying small tweaks on the trainer.
Any advice is appreciated!
My right leg is shorter than my left and I am having hip pain on my right side which I believe is from impingement. By having a shorter crank arm on the right, I can open up the hip angle more thus reducing the pain, as well as accommodating for the shorter leg.
Is my logic correct? Thanks
I’ve done ~5000km on this bike and this seat height feels great. My previous bike I had the seat a bit lower and had some knee pain so I don’t want to lower my saddle. However looking at the video my hips seems to be moving quite a bit, thoughts?
Hello all, recently switched to a 61cm track frame after feeling a 58 was too small for me. Position on this bike feels pretty good, any feedback or things that stand out? Thanks
Hey guys! Having some issues with saddle discomfort at the moment. I’m also taking the racing up to a higher level this year, so I’m thinking about going a bit more aggressive (longer and lower). Probably going for a bike fit but it never hurts to ask, so what do you guys think?
In my previous post everyone said my saddle was low. I raised it…
So I've been riding more often lately since I've bought a kickr and it's a search for some more comfort. Some discomfort in the butt but not that bad. Mostly feel stiffness in the neck, between the shoulderblades the day after. Shifted the saddle forward and lowered it 3 mm's. All tips welcome, thanks in advance!
Hi, I need help choosing a frame. I currently have a size 57 which is between M and L bicycle and am considering getting a frame size M. I am 175 cm tall with inseam 80-81 cm. I will post a link to compare the two frames, and size S for you to know if S isn't my size. https://99spokes.com/en-EU/compare?bikes=bergamont-grandurance-rd-7-2021;*z.57cm-700-700,genesis-croix-de-fer-725-frameset-2024,genesis-croix-de-fer-725-frameset-2024;*z.sm-700-700
Saddle height can’t be too high, right? Knee angle isn’t too high I guess.
Tried to do some bike fitting by myself. What's your opinion? Thanks for helping me
So I'm 193cm and 105kg. Currently rocking 42cm bars but noticing my wrists falling in on the bars so my wrist is in am extended position when on the hoods. So was thinking going 44 so that ide be more straight from shoulder to wrist.
I got my wife to help measure my shoulders from boney bit to boney bit and added 2cm as per some articles on google and it turned out to be 38cm. Now to me 38cm bars seem quite narrow and would be for a smaller person. I've always been considered as broad shouldered I guess given my height and size. I tried 40cm bars on my road bike for a few months but found my hands were falling off the outside edge more cause my arms were closer together.
Was I just in a bad position on the 40cm bars or should I really be considering narrow bars?
Good morning all you at home bike fitters. I wanted to share something that worked for me. I struggle with numb hands across all genres of riding. Gravel, road, mtb, even emtb. I can never seem to get away from it. In some cases total numbness happens within like 20 minutes of riding and I’m guessing where the brake levers are because I don’t wanna hold friends up on a descent.
I tried riding a longer stem on my gravel bike the other day just for the sake of trying… and viola. Riding for over an hour. No numbness at all.
I guess being more stretched out relieved something in my shoulders? Because that’s the only place it really feels different. Maybe being more stretched out makes you engage your core more? I don’t know what it is, but it worked.
Yea its me again 🙏
Hi everyone something strange happened with my fit and I cannot explain it… I had a bikefit 2 months ago but the saddle felt way too high so I dropped it by 3mm which felt so much better straight away. I did not change anything else however since I lowered the saddle I have more pressure on hands and neck which honestly I do not understand as it should be the other way round…. Any help is appreciated 🙏
TL;DR: Building a budget bike. Frame is 17", rider is 158cm/71.5cm inseam. Would it be okay with minor adjustments like a shorter stem?
Hello,
A friend asked me to build a budget hybrid bike, and we're trying to keep costs as low as possible. I’ve got plenty of spare parts lying around (most of them new), so the only thing we’re missing is a frame. I found a frame for €70 with the geometry shown in the attached picture. The problem is the smallest size available is 17", while my friend is 158cm tall with a 71.5cm inseam.
Would this frame work for her? If needed, I can swap in a shorter stem or make other adjustments. She plans to ride up to 100km max, and if she gets more into cycling, she’ll upgrade bike next year.
Hello group, my current Bike is a Giant TCR 1 from around 2012 2015 in the size ML I believe. I have done a lot of changes to it to make it comfortable, but I’m limited by the tire width so I will be getting a gravel frame. That frame is gonna be the Ceccotti Gravel. Now I need some advice on what frame size should I be going for. In the link, you can find my Bike and some videos of me cycling. This is my daily Bike so I mainly cycle with the backpack on. There is also the measurements that I took of my frame and measurements I found online and of course the measurements of the new frame.
Hello group my current Bike is a Giant TCR 1 I believe from around 2012 or 2015 and the size I believe is M/L I have attached the measurements that I have taken myself. There is a difference from what I found on Bike insights and geometry geeks mainly the reach I measured 42 and it says . I used the bike for just daily cycling as you can see I’m with a backpack like 90% of the time. A lot of changes were done to make this bike fit and comfortable but the comfort level is limited by the tire so I’m going to be changing the frame to a gravel one. It is the Ceccotti gravel frame and I have put the measurement list in the pictures. There are videos of my current riding position they might not be perfect as I felt weird with recording the posture. I also have slo mo videos but I couldn’t get them to upload to imgur I need help figuring out what size to get the new frame in.
Hi everyone I got a bikefit after struggling with my postion for a while… however the fitter put my saddle way too high so I decided after 2 months of trying to adapt to it to lower it about 5mm and go back about 1/2mm I also removed 2 spacers to my bars to match the bar drop any advice?
On longer rides my back, neck and shoulder hurts. Cube Attain GTC S 2022 (56). 176 cm, inseam 83 cm.
Regardless, how is the fit? Should be heel be lower?
What do you think about this saddle tilt? Do I need to level this ?
My gentleman’s tackle gets numb.

Hello,
Fairly new rider, about a year.
Having some issues with knee discomfort just below the kneecap in front of the knee, was thinking if it would be because saddle height or cleat position.
Any input, I feel comfortable in this position but the discomfort during and after riding is not nice.
Best regards
A novice rider.
