Q&A or info about anything related to bike fit. Fitters, cyclists, bike shops, and bike manufacturers are all welcome. We cover Road, MTB, Time Trial, or Triathlon. We don't discuss particular components or frames unless it is directly related to bike fit. Please read the Suggestions for Submitting pinned post before asking questions about your position.
There are lots of resources online regarding bike fit and discomfort while riding, I highly suggest trying some research as well as searching past threads here before posting.
No question is a bad question, this can be a great place to learn about what can be done to make your riding comfortable and pain free.
If you're posting your position on the bike, please describe what problems or issues you are having.
The same position for two different riders can be a vastly different experience due to flexibility, conditioning, and more.
Posting 'how does this look?' without describing a problem or goal will lead to vague advice that may not benefit you.
Additionally, if you've just had a fit and are experiencing discomfort, follow up with them before you ask us!

Hi everyone,
I had a bikefit done in October 2024, and I’m really happy with the results. However, I’m getting more into triathlon, and I’ll need to make some adjustments to my road bike (not planning to get a TT bike for now).
1️⃣ Switching to shorter crank arms
I’m planning to get the Magene P505 power meter, and I need to choose the crank arm length. I did my bikefit with 172.5mm cranks, but I’m considering switching to 165mm to test the potential benefits (since it’s quite popular now). If I make this change, what adjustments should I make to my bike setup? I’d like to avoid another full bikefit session if possible.
2️⃣ Adding aero bars
I’m also planning to install Van Rysel aero bars and use my current bike for my upcoming 70.3. Should I move my saddle forward? Are there any other common adjustments I should consider when adding aero bars?
Thanks for your help! 🚴♂️💨
I've been cycling for about 15 years now and never been able to get really comfortable. Professional bike fit didn't help but I think that was my own fault (years ago, asked for an aero fit).
After 45 minutes to an hour my left sit bone area becomes sore and without chamois cream it can get really bad on a longer ride. Everything else is relatively ok.
Does anything stick out? I've tried a lot of things over the years.. many saddles, seat height and fore aft, stem length, stack height etc. Never tried shorter cranks or much shorter stem. Also wonder if I have a leg length discrepancy although measurement appears the same.
For some reason I can't upload more video.. I'll try in the comments.
I got this bike from a family member who no longer rides it. I've already done a few rides with it and haven't had any pain. But it feels a bit twitchy at times. It is a Canyon Endurace size S with a 90mm stem and 170mm cranks. I am 173cm tall with an inseam of 79cm. I am grateful for any help!
My pt diagnosed me with retoverted femur right side, and demonstrated that my righ knee feels best with some external rotation of my right foot.
There is a youtube video with Neil Stanbury fitting Charlie Wiggins where he suggested staggered fore/aft and staggered stance width. I feel like I should also put more cleat rotation (toe out) on my right foot as well, because thats how I walk. Buy generally I dont see people running different cleat angles.
I've been dealing with this for the better part of a year. Mostly on my left side at the ischial tuberosity and surrounding tissues. Happens on all three of my bikes. Had several fits, different seats, seat height up/down etc and still happens. Went to PT, one said my right leg was 13mm shorter, another said it's not and another said maybe 3mm shorter. I experimented with shims on the right, didn't help. Have G8 insoles, didn't really make a difference. Not sure where to go at this point. Happens within 5 minutes of riding, then goes away then comes back. Sometimes I can't even sit down off the bike after due to pain.
I've been experiencing knee pain and hand numbness on this bike. I'm a completely newb when it comes to setting up a bike fit, so looking for advice.
Thanks!
Why I made such changes?
2..and also blame them for me feeling like I am too far forward which combined with my crappy descending isnt great
So changes made were:
Also lower saddle from 660 to 650.
Elephant in the room is I am rocking a lot in the 2nd clip. Largely, this is because I rode in a harder gear to hope to expose more. Similar to a slow climb with those heel drops
Overall, better upper body for how I could feel but does that go to a point that my pedal strokes are hampered? Thanks for your advices!
I have a difference of 1 inch for both my legs from hip to ankle. So is it necessary to add cleat shims or can I go without shims? Please help me with this .
...to test moving seat forward more than I'm normally able. Huge improvement in getting weight off of hands. Bike is 1 size too big for me but any thoughts on dialing in as much as possible?
So my wife has started cycling in the last 2 months - on a step through sit-up-and-beg bike - she previosuly didn't cycle at all although competent. She has started suffering from quite considerable pain in her left glute/buttock and hamstring and even down into the calf - all in the same leg and the calf muscles feel quite hard as if engaged even when not. At the moment the bike appears to be the only obvious change in lifestyle. Any thoughts before hitting a physio? My feeling is the posture might not be wrong and the legs aren't extending fully but wine is my profession, not physiology!
Im pretty new to cycling but absolutely hooked. Thats why I want to get a roadbike too after buying my first gravel bike back in September. Do you guys think the gravel bike is a good size for me? The road bike im looking to buy got at the similar framesize (60) 17mm less stack at the same reach. If i go 1 framesize down (58) it would be 8mm less reach and 32mm less stack. I want to have a fast but not extremely aggressive position. My goal is to take part in some races and gran fondos this year. After buying the roadbike i will so a professional bike fitting but i want to make sure to buy the right size and i cant test the bike because it is sold out at the local stores.
Sorry, reposting because I forgot the video last time:
Hey - would appreciate it if someone could help with my fit on my spin bike. I'm worried about my ankles because I do get some persistent pain sometimes when riding. I recently adjusted my handlebars down and forward slightly and my seat down about a half-inch.
I feel like the more I think about my riding posture and position, the worse it gets :/
Thanks to everyone who made suggestions on my previous post. I have flipped the stem, dropped the handlebars and moved a few spacers. Dropping the handlebars enough caused the steering tube to awkwardly stick up higher than the stem. I did a test ride and things definitely felt a bit better in my upper body but my left hand is still going a bit numb and my right knee got quite sore after riding 75 min with the adjustments. Any further suggestions? Is the saddle too far forward or back? It feels like the handlebar is pressing into the padded part of my palm under where the thumb connects. I think this bike may just not fit me...Thanks!
Hi All,
I’ll break up the ‘is my seat too high’ posts for something different.
I've been looking to purchase a Canyon Endurace, and have looked into the sizing's, and am a little confused without sitting on one. According to the size guide, I'm a medium, but only just (could possibly be a large) see sizings below. any advice welcomed!!!
I've had my current bike for almost 20 years, and was my first 'good' bike. I 'think' it fits ok, I don't really get too sore, other than normal seat pain after longer rides (70km+)
I'm looking for an updated model of a comfortable bike with decent speed. Hence Endurace CLX 8 Areo.
I'm particularly interested in the difference of the stack+ and reach+ measurements given it is an integrated cockpit.

Looking at doing a bike upgrade this year, and have found a few good candidates on marketplace.
Some details:
I wouldn't mind a size smaller to get a bit more aggressive position, but am worried that the Scott could be too small, relative to my current bike. I'm a bit picky about getting a good fit, as I am a pretty high volume rider, so I'd need to be able to get through 15-20h weeks and 4-6h long rides.
Thoughts on whether the Scott would be good for me, or should I keep searching?
Here is a geometry comparison between the 2 frames:
https://geometrygeeks.bike/compare/scott-foil-10-2020-l-56,specialized-tarmac-2016-58/
Admittedly I've not had too many niggles when on the trainer but the reach always seems to big. I've ordered a shorter stem, the handle bars are also short reach (specialized). After taking the first video and some self critique, I've dropped my seat by about 2-3cm.
When on the road, I'd often get lower back pain but only on left side. My left leg is slightly shorter and I've added a shim undery cleat and that somehow helped.
Thoughts?
Just looking for some adjustments? My problems are: My dick gets numb sometimes (not every ride tho so im confused), my toes sometimes get a little numb (pretty sure thats bc my shoes are a tad to narrow for my feet), my left hand sometimes get numb. This is a canyon grizl 7 1by size S, i am 178cm Any help is appreciated:)
Hey guys, just bought my first tri-bike (Cervelo P-Series 🥰). Can anyone give me recommendations, on where to go for a good bikefit in Munich? Doesn’t need to be ultra high-priced, i just want to be comfortable and be a bit aerodynamic. Thanks 🙏
Hey everyone!
I just ordered the Canyon Aeroad Aerobars, but now I’m wondering if they’re worth the price or if there are better alternatives out there. I’ll be using them for triathlon, but I also want to ride in the mountains on some days, so they should be removable or adjustable.
I have zero experience with aero setups on the Canyon Aeroad, so I’d love some recommendations from you guys! Are the Canyon ones the best option, or is there a better (and maybe cheaper) product?
Did a hard Zwift effort yesterday 4000' vertical in ~7 miles. Feeling it in my glutes, quads, and knees today.
Just curious - where do you feel sore the day after a big effort?
I tried myvelofit to do some basic adjustments abd saddle height seems to be ok now. The AI recommends 10mm of additional handlebar height and reach. Before investing money in parts, I'd love sone feedback.
One issue I'm fighting with is genital numbness after about 15 minutes
