Gunnison National Forest Eye Sighting

21 DEC 2024 at approx. 3:30pm my girlfriend and I were driving south on N state Highway 135. We were on our way back from Crested Butte Ski resort and we had just passed the entrance to the roaring judy fish hatchery. As I was looking out the window at the East River (Gunnison River) and wooded area that runs alongside the road (on our right side heading south) I noticed a figure standing next to a tree, in the marsh or water (i couldn't exactly tell). This figure was what I estimated to be about 7-7.5 feet tall. It was about 75 meters from the road and I could clearly see a head, two shoulders, and arms hanging down to below the waist. Below that i believe it was in the water or in the marsh. The figure was entirely black with no variation in color and it didn't appear that it was clothing. I also believe it was facing away from me looking towards the opposite direction. It was not moving and was standing entirely straight up from what I could see.

At this point I said to my girlfriend that i either saw a very tall person standing out in the water/woods or that it was a Bigfoot. I convinced her to turn around and try to locate exactly where i saw it so we could pull the car over and look. After going back we stopped for a few minutes but i couldn't figure out the exact location where I saw it and it wasn't safe to be stopped on the side of the road with a small shoulder.

There was one small house about a minute down from where i saw it that appeared to be abandoned and there were no cars parked or people walking in that area from what we could see. There was also about a foot of snow at-least and it was 20 degrees out.

On our way back i then googled "Gunnison National Forest Bigfoot" and the very first thing that popped up was a sighting in almost the same area with the exact same description as I had seen. In my opinion I believe I saw a bigfoot that was ironically standing in the water right next to a fish hatchery looking for its dinner. I cant think of a reason that someone would be standing in that water. And i did not see a fishing pole. I couldn't make out any features... only the height, stature, long arms, and solid black color on its whole body.

The link to the sighting i googled: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1AzHF7xyg1/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Please let me know what you all think. I understand there is not a lot of detail but this is the information I can provide from the 5 seconds i observed this "thing."

Anybody familiar with this channel?

I came across this video and thought it was really interesting but I’ve never seen this channel so I was curious if anybody here had anything to say about it. I’ve heard very similar sounds to some of these in northern Idaho.

Complaint Box for r/bigfoot (Experimental)

Just what it says on the tin ... this is an experimental space to allow members to weigh in with things you don't like or things you'd like to change about r/bigfoot.

Keep in mind that this is not merely a spot for trivial whining and bitching nor typical Reddit trolling for the lolz.

I recommended this idea to the Mod team and so I'll be focusing on the administration of the post. Due to the very nature of the idea, I reserve the right to delete any post that doesn't meet the Community Standards.

The Number One Rule still applies: this is not a place to insult Mods or other members. It is a place to get grievances off your chest, blow off steam, and/or have your voice heard. If it's misused or becomes contentious, it will be shut down.

Thank you for enjoying r/bigfoot.

Possible Bigfoot yell Northern California?

In 2022 my girlfriend and I were looking for a trail to hike in the McKinleyville area a lot of the parks were closed due to their popularity in July. So we looked at google maps around 12 pm in the afternoon to see what was in the area and not too far from the redwood national forest was a public Access trail off the side of the highway up there. A 15 mile hike to a beach area with no road access. Her and I not thinking thought it would be fun to do and even if we don’t make it to our destination it would make for a fun day. So to get to the story we our about in hour into the forest and we hear a scream and the birds go quiet. I don’t think about it but I hear it again and I ask my lady if she heard it too and we decided to leave and we made it with no problem. The scream sounded like a woman screaming but altered by a deep voice emulator but natural. The weirdest thing about this is I felt almost something primal to leave or run. The most hilarious part of this story was a old man walking close to the trail’s entrance and I told him that there was a animal screaming in the woods, he smiles and says “sounds hungry”, when we got to our truck, his car had a Bigfoot sticker. Which made my day. Let me know if I’m delusional or if there is some Bigfoot lore. Thanks!

H. Naledi potentially burying dead.

"The implication, Berger and his collaborators argued, was that H. naledi individuals entered this subterranean cave system deliberately to deposit their dead."

Does this not make you wonder if this same ritual practice is the reason for no fossil discoveries yet? Y'all need to get digging peeps.

Expedition Bigfoot and shows/documentaries like it.

I just finished watching "Expedition Bigfoot" and really enjoyed it. I wanted to keep the vibes going, so I started watching "Finding Bigfoot" again after stopping several years ago. I picked up where I left off at the start of Season 7, but it just felt so much worse than "Expedition Bigfoot". Any recommendations for shows and/or documentaries more along the lines of "Expedition Bigfoot"?

Why do the mods allow people to shill Bigfoot junk on this sub?

I keep seeing people posting pictures of trinkets that feature Bigfoot instead of engaging in meaningful discussion on the topic. Why don’t the mods ban accounts that keep posting this type of useless junk?

Best Bigfoot book imo

I loved this book so much and it really makes me want to move to a place with a lot of Bigfoot activity when I’m older. I only have a couple criticisms with it tho. STOP READING HERE DUE TO SPOILERS!!! I didn’t like when the army vet said he encountered Bigfoots in Iraq. They’re not desert creatures. I believe they’re strictly in North Asia and North America. Not even South America. The second criticism I have with it is when Carter, the main character is being attacked by the alpha Bigfoot, the alpha notices him wearing a cross and it says “Galaka” and leaves him alone. While I am very religious and a firm follower of Christianity, I only see Bigfoot as another wild animal, not a spiritual or supernatural or paranormal being. None of that crap. But other than those two, this book was actually pretty entertaining and not full of crap. 10/10 highly recommend.

Bigfoot tourism/fun places

Dear Redditors,

Next year (in April) i fly with my wife and sons (5 and 7yrs old) to Los Angeles. We stay 3 days in LA, 5 days near the Grand Canyon and 7 days near Yosemite Park (Coarsegold). Now i was interested in Bigfoot since i was a kid, so i was very much interested in visting the bigfoot discovery museum (+-3hr drive from coarsegoald), and now i saw it closed! I do see a small museum at about 8 hours drive, but thats quite a long trip in 1 day for my young kids. Do you maybe know any fun stores/museums/activities or anything between San Francisco and the Grand Canyon?? Would be extremely appreciated!

Best to all.

Does Mangani’s Historical Sightings include date information?

As the title says. I’m ideally wanting data on historical sightings and when they have occurred, in some bulk format would be perfect (csv or similar). I’ve noticed Mangani’s Historical Sightings Source has been mentioned in a few locations, but the website seems to indicate that it’s most geographic data.

Shhh Listen, Bigfoot Yells and Throws Stone? Audacity Audio Visuals

This is the third and last video we've made on the bigfoot rock throw event that happened to our colleague  u/Pnazty11  This time we've been able to amplify the sound enough where you can hear the suspected sasquatch yell and the stone hit the ground. In the other videos you could only hear with headphones, this time you won't need them and you'll see their audio visual signatures. So now we have the arm movement, the vocal and the audio visual of the event all shown here.

Help me find this Bigfoot story please!

I am hoping someone can help me. I remember being so deep in reddit years ago and came across a reddit post about a man in British Columbia who ran into bigfoot deep in the woods (he may or may not have been working). I think the bigfoot might have been crossing a stream or passing by and watching him. The man leaves and runs into an Indigenous man who was calm and told him that he knows there are bigfoot in the area, that his people coexist with them, and told him how to behave when he sees one. I am so desperate to find this again. I don't think the post had blown up with many likes or comments at the time. Please help me!

Bigfoot-like traditions of the Russian Far East, from Dmitry Bayanov's In the Footsteps of the Russian Snowman

In 1988, my contacts in the northern Russian city of Magadan, on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk, sent me a copy of Magadanskaya Pravda with an article by S. Kozlovsky, a student of local lore. He writes that in 1979, as part of an educational programme, he lectured to local Even reindeer herders on the origin and evolution of man. The lectures were accompanied by slide showings of reconstructions of prehistoric men. Audiences of herders, often with their families, would listen, stone-faced and in solemn silence, to the interpreter, rendering from Russian into Even what Kozlovsky had to say. But the moment a reconstruction of the apeman (Homo erectus) appeared on the screen, old Evens started whispering to each other, "Erek pikelian!" ("That's pikelian!"). This reaction was repeated with every new audience, and Kolovsky became increasingly interested in the question of the pikelian. He collected stories about it and presented some of them in his article.

The pikelian is a manlike creature covered with grey-brown hair. According to one story, a hunter named Mikundya observed a female pikelian in the mountains. She dug up a root, cleansed it and started eating it. Mikundya was a brave man, and decided to catch the creature. He jumped from behind a rock and grabbed her; she gave out a raucous scream, and dragged him some distance until he bumped heavily against a rock, when he let her go. After that the hunter is said to have found a cave with a bed of grass and moss, and lots of bones of animals presumably eaten by pikelians.

Other stories cited by Kozlovsky mention pikelians stealing reindeer meat from herders and "storing it in cold puddles," a thing never done by animals. Also, a hunter claims to have seen a pikelian steal a wild ram which he had shot and which rolled down a slope.

Another of my Far Eastern correspondents, Alexander Gumennik, a journalist in the city of Khabarovsk, also gathered sighting accounts among reindeer breeders living on the mountainous coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. The wildman's name he heard is kheyak, a creature two and more metres tall, capable of running very fast, making great leaps, whistling and yelling very loudly. A team leader of reindeer herders told Gummenik that as a child he witnessed a huge hairy kheyak enter, on all fours (because of his size), the tent in which the boy slept with his parents. The wildman approached the boy, caressed and kissed him, and then, still on all fours, backed out of the tent. The parents never woke up and the boy was not a bit afraid "because the kheyak has hypnotic powers." When the boy told his parents what had happened, they became terribly frightened and left that place in a hurry.

The northeastern tip of Asia, jutting out into the Bering Sea vis-a-vis Alaska, called the Chukchi Peninsula, is likewise not devoid of hominoid sightings. This remote corner of Russia was visited by Alexandra Bourtseva in 1971, and the information gathered published in a popular-science magazine. Her informants were the natives of the peninsula, the Chukchi and the Lamut. The Lamut name for large manlike creature is mirygdy ("broadshoulders"); other names translate to "goggle-eye," "swift runner," and "sharphead." The creature is very tall, with no visible neck, hairy, and secretive. If a hunter should leave part of his kill to be retrieved the next day, he will return to find it gone, and big footprints surrounding the location. Inevitably, stories gathered from among the indigenous people have a mythological ring; so we always aim to get a "control account" from a person not belonging to the local population.

For the Chukchi Peninsula, such an account - a sighting report, in fact - was received by us from an ethnic Russian, Victor Chebotarev, now a resident of Moscow. In August 1970, when he worked in the Chukchi Peninsula, during a hunt on the Amguema River, he and two of his fellow-hunters sighted a gigantic hairy figure, both apelike and manlike, with wide shoulders, hefty arms and legs, and a small head. The creature stood motionless for some time, then turned and disappeared behind a rock. When the witness showed us how the wildman moved, we thought "just like the Bigfoot of the Patterson film." When Chebotarev saw the film, he said, "The creature I saw walked exactly like that."

Lookin' for Squatchin' Grounds

I'm thinking about going on a camping(/squatching) trip in Tennessee with a friend and was just wondering if anyone had some good recommendations on where it's likely to encounter squatchy happenings, or if you know of a campground where reports often come out of, to be clear I don't really wanna be in "possibility to get ripped in half" squatch territory, I more so just like, either want a glimpse or maybe just have the possibility to hear some squatchy sounds, knocks, howls, whatever, I know there's a few sites that list reports but it's no doubt that word of mouth locations are more likely to have an experience than these reported locations, simply because digital reports are hardly ever made, bfro only has like around 100 for reports, and that's across all time and spread across the state, and even then, if two locations appear similar in number, word of mouth could possibly tell me which one of the two has more encounters, so yeah, some recommendations for either campable areas or campgrounds themselves would be greatly appreciated

Language Differences?

So we are all aware of the Sierra sounds and Berry Tapes right? They are so incredible to listen to! I have been following linguist Scott Nelson for quite a while and he is VERY credible. With that being said, I have recently stumbled upon Mike who has a YouTube channel called Sasquatch Ontario and he has been posting many videos with Sasquatch vocalizations. So my question is, why do the vocalizations from the Sierra Sounds/Berry Tapes sound so differently from the ones Sasquatch Ontario posts? In the recordings from the Sierra Sounds/Berry Tapes you can hear a legit language being spoken but with the recent YouTube videos by Sasquatch Ontario it seems to be elongated noises and howls rather than chatter. Idk maybe I’m thinking too much but was wondering if anyone else had the same thoughts or maybe theories? Perhaps the Sasquatch Ontario videos are fake?? Idk I just found it interesting! 🤔🤔 https://youtu.be/v_bOim7TmSQ?si=tTkwK2TfBdwtGKhx
