Our Subreddit Rules:

1) Be Nice!

  • It's pretty self-explanatory. Personal attacks, abusive language, trolling or bigotry in any form is not allowed. No hate material, be it submissions or comments, are accepted.

2) Follow the Rules of Reddit

3) Make your submission titles clear and fitting to the topic at hand

  • Use [gamename] so everyone can see what game your submission is about and add a short description of what’s happening in it. If the game is an x-post from another sub make >sure to indicate that as well.

4) No spoilers in titles!

  • If you want to talk about some spoilery stuff in comments, use the spoiler tags! Ex: Spoiler find how to use them here You cannot post an entire professional gaming competition, please try to find significant highlights that display the height of gaming skill, luck, and performance. Refrain from a title that gives away winners in competitions.

5) Every NSFW submission must be tagged!

  • We don’t want anyone getting fired for being on our sub 😉

6) Speedruns can be posted.

  • Yet they should not just be about the time someone managed to do something by using hacks/bugs/general knowledge, but about skilled gameplay that really puts them /r/beyondthegame.

[Reddit][PC/iOS/Android][2005] About this subs future...

Well hello there.

I think this is the very first sticky mod announcement in this sub, because i'd like this to be seen by everyone who happens to open it.

I'm going to be direct. The sub was created out of someone randomly saying something being "beyond the game" after seeing a gameplay clip of someone doing something incredible with "creative use of game mechanics". Someone was really quick to create a sub based on this moniker and we at least gave it a quick shot to see how many people would be interested in a sub like this. We had someone come in for a CSS theme, which i personally don't even see because i use old.reddit.com but overall we got to see at least some people posting from time to time which was nice.

So here we are.. None of us or at least nobody of the other mods except me would have the time/interest to make something out of the sub. /u/TOPgunn95 has family now, /u/A_favorite_rug hasn't posted anything on reddit in a year and i personally have a GF as well now and just wouldn't be able to handle it alone.

I've tried to run a 130+ people multigaming clan without any other people that were willing to help once before, but that just resulted in a mild burnout for me.

So there are a few options.

  1. Someone willing with time on their hands joins the mod team (1-3 people)
  2. We put it up at /r/adoptareddit
  3. We ask around on /r/needamod
  4. I'll archive it.

If we find ourselves with help at our hands I'd also at the same time propose we get a bit more strict about what kind of content the subs name should promote.
While i personally enjoy me some stealth like StealthGamerBR, tons of uploads of stealth sections i don't see being that interesting to follow except when there was some actual interesting way of doing something, otherwise its just playing the game like its supposed to be played. Creative uses like some people use to play around with in Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain where they constantly trick out guards or gameplay like the aforementioned SGBR does with some of his YouTube uploads would be more fitting, even tho doing that over and over again will quickly loose its excitement factor as well.

I hope i got my point across here.

Another problem is that as much as i like people posting on here, i've noticed that some people just used it for blatant self promotion. So i'd like to at least look out for that or well, add a self-promo flair/report option/automod thing. It just buries other user posting things of 3rd parties in countless uploads of the same person.
Which will also be put into consideration if someone of you asks for mod, because if i had the choice of a frequent visitor/poster asking for mod and one of them only posts content of other awesome people and the other only ever posts about themselves, then i'd pick the former.

And last but not least, while we are at around 1.640 gamers on here, getting it out of the mud wouldn't be an easy task so promoting it in some way would be required as well.

But as i said, i can't make this a reality on my own.
Also, i won't respond to any modmail regarding this, i want the discussion to be open.

[Mod Post and UPDATE] Hey guys... Been a while...

Hey everyone who still calls this subreddit home... I wanted to touch base and I wanted to say a few things. I hope during these past few years that those of this community have remained healthy and safe. First I would like to say I am sorry. When we were at the height of this subreddit I was energetic and professional, but as time went on I got into university and had a kid. I didn't have the time to keep up with a fast moving subreddit or the attention that it required. I would like to say that I have it now, but I'm not sure.

I am making this post now partly because I want to reach out, but also to see what people would like to do with this sub? Would it be helpful to make a discord for communication and interaction? Would you guys be interested in something like that? I also think it's time to look at getting some new mods who can generate hype as well as consistent movement forward. Let me know what you guys think or if I should just leave the sub as is and move on.

~ Tyler
