I’m getting overwhelmed with all the options for tours. Anytime I post in the Belize FB groups I get tons of replies with people trying to sell me their tour and I don’t know who to choose. I have booked all my accom for the week I will be in Belize but now I just have to book the following -
ATM Caves in Cayo District Cave Tubing in Caves Branch (which is the best one?) Snorkeling/swming with manatees in Swallow Caye Swimming/snorkeling with rays & sharks at Ray Alley
One of those last two I’m looking to leave from Caye Caulker and be dropped off in San Pedro.
Any advice is appreciated
Looking for suggestions on places to stay and vist. Interested in outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, and more. I plan on visiting early December with 4 of my friends. Looking to spend around 1k per person. Thank you
Just scored an incredible deal on ✈️ tix this February, and we’re thrilled our now family of 3 can experience Belize together. (Pre-kiddo, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Caye Caulker and San Ignacio.)
We’re hoping to avoid renting a car, so staying in/nearby town is ideal for us. Any thoughts on Buttonwood vs. Parrot Cove? Buttonwood is more central, but the pool is at their sister property a few blocks away.
It seems like getting to Mayflower Bocawina National Park via one of the rented golf carts is out of the question? Wondering if the taxis will drop off there and swing back later?
Looking forward to exploring this board more for some other recs after we sort out our lodging!
Hi,
we took a catamaran in Placencia, visited a bunch of the small islands in that area, were hiding in Old Belize Marina because of a storm, went to Cay Caulker (?), to the reef and then back to Placencia visiting other islands. It was a nice trip 😊.
But I had no luck. When I woke up the first morning in Placencia marina I recognized that I got c. 80-100 insect bites/stabs, most at my feet, ankles and lower legs despite using insect spray.
Damn, were these itchy. Every day I got more and more but when we were at Old Belize marina it went worse, got countless bites at my feet and lower legs again and my back was full (approx 30) mosquito stabs. My feet got swollen and hardly could move them anymore.
I started scratching quickly because the intense itching drove me crazy, especially in the night and hardly could sleep. I assume the scratching was the cause that I got a skin infection, resulting into multiple big blisters.
Went to a doctor at Cayman Caulker, got antibiotics injection, antibiotic pills and antihistamin.
Never experienced that in my live.
Did someone else went through this torture?
I suffered 3 weeks and I am now on my way back to Germany, looking forward to see my doctor tomorrow because that illness makes me concerned, getting still these blisters despite 2 weeks of antibiotics.
Does someone has experience with that?
Thank you!
Any suggestions? Do I arrange a boat now? From the port how long is it to the airport
Hello! I am heading to San Ignacio on Nov 8 in the evening from Belize Airport (BZE). Does anyone want to share a taxi or shuttle? DM me if interested.
I'm planning out a trip for next year. We'll be using the water taxi to get to and from Ambergris Caye. My girlfriend does not like flying and the really small plane freaks her out a bit. How long does it realistically take to get from Ambergris Caye to the airport? From what I read on the the Belize Express website, they say 90 minutes on boat and 25 minutes to the airport. If our fight departs at noon, would taking the 7am water taxi give us enough time to get to the airport and through security? Or is staying in Belize City the last night a safer option?
Hi all! I collect postcards, but I don't have a card from Belize yet. Can someone send me a postcard from there? Maybe someone will be able to send me 1 when they are there?
Thank you in advance!!
(2 girls) we have seven days and wants to split between 4 days in San Pedro and 3 days San Ignacio. We also don’t drive so we want to accommodate for a hotel with a reasonable price as we have to pay for the shuttle back and forth. Any recs, we can’t do sweet songs as it isn’t available on the days we are going neither is black rock. Also do you recommend that we do caye caulker instead of San Ignacio? If so what hotel would be recommended. We did want to have that jungle experience however since we’ve never done it before and have done the beach travel numerous times. Please help us
Hi Friends, I'm looking to book a tour up the river to Lamanai. I've found plenty of companies that offer this tour but they all have transportation (i.e., hotel pickup/drop off) included in their pricing. I'll have a rental car, and therefore don't need that extra transport cost.
Based on previous threads, I gather that I'll want to drive to Orange Walk to meet up with a guide. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tour company that just does the boat and site tour if I get myself to Orange Walk?
Hi there,
Looking for personal injury attorneys in Belize. Please give me your best recommendations, I am an American that was injured on vacation and would like to work with a Belizean attorney.
Thanks!
Hey folks! Am headed to N. San Pedro in a few weeks. Am watching tons of videos and research. Any restaurants that we MUST try? Also will it really rain the whole month of November? So excited!
Any big or small events in town tonight? We'll be the ones dressed as American tourists. Hahaha
Hello! I’ll be traveling from Corozal to san Ignacio next week and I’m looking for advice on the best way to get there. Are there any direct buses or shuttles that people are aware of? Or will I have to go to Belize city first and then bus to san Ignacio, if that’s the case will I be able to do that trip in one day? I’m traveling as a solo female. Thank you to anyone who may have advice :)
I am traveling solo next month (50 something female) and I am renting a car from Belize City and going to San Ignacio. From San Ignacio I am going to Placencia and staying at a cute litle place right on the beach near the barefoot bar.
Here is my dilemma...
I can keep my rental car for the whole week (very expensive) and drive to Belize city or I can possibly drop the car in Placencia when I arrive (and be without a way to get around) and fly back from Placencia to to Belize City. I wanted to possibly stop in Maya Beach (or Hopkins) for a couple of nights for something a little quieter with a pool. Is Maya beach worth all the hassle or should I just stay in Placencia the whole time and possibly just change locations to get a different view? All I want to do is lay on the beach and possibly do a little snorkeling if the beach in front of the hotel is good for that.
I could also drive through Hopkins and Maya on the way to Placencia and stay a couple of nights I just thought it would be nice to end in the quieter place with a pool.
Thanks in advance for any info you all help me out with.

Seeing wildlife is a top priority for me when choosing my travel destinations, so it would be a bonus if I could stay somewhere that already has the chance to see some on their property! monkeys, birds, etc.
To be more specific, I plan on staying in the Cayo District area for 4 nights. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
A neighborhood road soth of San Pedro town.
We are traveling to Hopkins Bay Resort with another couple, and wondering what we should plan for or book in advance? Not sure if it's a stay on the property all day and chill kind of location, or if we would really get our fun by getting out in the area every day?
Would you 100% recommend the commuter flights vs. The 2-3 hr drive? Any recommended vendor/drivers?
What are the best nightlife things to do off the property, if any?
Thanks!
Checking in if anyone living out that way has seen any recent rainy weather related reports on ATM Cave.

My friend said he had a great time in Belize but his experience in Belize city made it seem like it’s not necessarily a tourist friendly place yet.. some people tried to rob the bus they were on but the driver just sped away
