Tips

Hi, I’m getting my first load of flower beetles this week, I’ve got all the correct leaf litter etc for them. But is there anything I need to be prepared for. Any tips or hints to keep them at their best for a nice healthy and happy life with me?

Wanting to keep beetles, but warned never to take them from the wild. Why?

I'm brand new to wanting to keep beetles as pets, and I'm saving up to get all the things they need to be happy. I often come across DON'T TAKE BEETLES FROM THE WILD on a lot of care guides online, but never saw the reason why. Could someone please explain? Thanks!

Mystery larvae spotted in P. biplagiatus box

I have some Prosopocoilus biplagiatus beetles and I found a single mystery larvae in the substrate. i doubt it is a p blipagiatus because it was in the male's enclosure.

Help identifying a beetle

I found this in my garden. Someone told me it’s a beetle but I haven’t seen this type before and I haven’t been able find a lookalike on Google.

Does anyone know if it’s true this is a beetle and if so what kind it is? I’m in Australia

IS THERE ANY BEETLE GAME NOWDAYS ?

Guys i know that we have the Gameboy's Games (our breeding series) and Evolution game as flash browser games (http://www.freeworldgroup.com/games6/gameindex/evolution.htm) (maybe still on this link) wich the song by linkin park was a banger playing this as a kid haha.

i want something like catch, breeding , fighting ? (something like pokemon but with beetles ? i also tried to create a game like this but i gave up)

any new games like this ? there are some games that mix ants, scorpions and etc , but that is not what most people that search for beetles games want ;p

if anyone have something in mind let me know , as a gamer and beetle fanatic i would love to see something i didnt saw yet.

(also sorry for my grammar ;3;)

thanks!

Help me ID please

I found this old stag beetle specimen at my university and it's wrong ID, they put Lucanus curves as the species and my country(Malaysia) do not have Lucanus curves so what species is this? Looks like genus Odontolabis

Found the motherlode of grubs

Gainesville, FL and I've had this Chinese tallow tree we cut down 4 years back that we left a trunk about 7 feet tall of. I'm sitting here raking some leaves around the tree today when I think, why not push this trunk? So I push it, and it wiggles like your first loose tooth, like it wants to fall over. I jiggle and jostle it back and forth and finally it falls over. Upon hitting the ground, dozens of grubs get flung out from near where it broke at the base. Wow! I collected all that I could and broke off more pieces of the trunk to get to a few more I could see. All in all I collected 34 of them! Still being new to this, I'm pretty excited to have found so many big, wild grubs to watch grow and transform.

Any idea what they could be? ChatGPT says they could be Eastern Hercules Beetle or phileurus valgus, but i don't know how to tell the difference. They're about an inch and half long. They're in a big fish tank with a bunch of the wood they were burrowing into and some soil to fill the gaps between the wood.
