Is there a “no wrong choice” beauty product I can buy as a gift for my date?

Apologies in advance if this goes a bit off-topic but I’m need of some help when it comes to choosing a present for a girl (who’s also my colleague at work) I went on a date with last week. We got the next one set up already for tomorrow and I’m frankly at a loss because I want to buy her something thoughtful that she’ll use. Now, I already gifted her a couple of games (and she me lol) on Steam because we’re both heavy gamers but I want the next present to be something more tangible and honestly just practically useful lol

I’ve been thinking along the lines of maybe a perfume, but I don’t know what she’d like. She’s a bit alt (listens to neofolk/symphonic metal) so I’m thinking there might be a specific fragrance to tie in with that. I’m just clueless as to what she’d like. She complimented me once on my Terre d’Hermes dupe (Hero) that I got from Chez Pierre last week, but I frankly have no idea what she’d like for herself. Maybe that’s better left for when I get to know her personal preferences better… She does like coffee and deep, earthy smells (nothing *too* sweet) from what we talked, so that’s something to go off of.

So I’d like to ask you — would it be weird for me, as a guy, to buy her quality eyeliner, or a quirky, darkish bronzer or stuff like that as a gift? Would you like it as a date present, or would you consider it “pushy”, ie. aggressively pushing her to what I’d like her to use? I might be overthinking this, but I really need a hint here. Any help appreciated!

Products like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting holiday palettes?

Does anybody have any recommendations for palettes like the Hourglass holiday releases? I think they’re beautiful but I don’t want to support a company who year after year refuses to release darker shades (especially if they might not even work on me). Dupes don’t necessarily have to be cheaper. I’m open to spending money if the product is worth it.

Maybe a stupid question but… how do some girls make their eyebrows look like this? Is it a certain style of makeup? Is it just the way they grow? Is it a beauty procedure?

Cotton pads and micellar water giving me contact dermatitis under my eyes?

I wear heavy black eye makeup and have been using garnier micellar water with these all natural cotton pads but I’m noticing it’s giving me this redness and pain under my eyes?

I’ve used the water in my hands and then a face wash and that doesn’t happen.

I’m scared to use cleansing balms or oils because I have acne prone, oily skin that gets closed comedones.

Please leave some suggestions on removal methods!!

Grande Lash vs Latisse? Other lash growth serum recs?

I struggle with trichotillomania so I don’t have many eyelashes rn. I tried the grande lash eyelash growth serum but it irritated my eyes. I’m looking into Latisse, but I don’t want that to also irritate my eyes. I know they share some ingredients but based on my research, I know that Latisse has way less ingredients than Grande Lash.

Grande Lash has a fuck ton of ingredients that shouldn’t go anywhere near your eyes (FR idk how it’s legal to sell this) and that I know I’m sensitive to as I’ve had different types of products that go on external body parts that I am sensitive to.

This doesn’t look to be the case with Latisse and I like that it has a low Ph. I’ve probably gotten stuff with a higher Ph than that in my eye so this doesn’t seem like anything that would give me permanent eye irritation.

Also, Latisse was originally prescribed for glaucoma before the hair growth effects were noticed and people who’ve lose lashes due to chemo have used Latisse. So I assume it’s safe.

Has anyone had experiences with grande lash and/or Latisse? Do you have any other lash serums you’d recommend (ones that don’t have glycerin, alcohol, propylene glycol).

Honestly I can’t comprehend why any product that goes on your body, especially something that goes near your eyes, has those ingredients.

Perfumes that remind you of autumn, dry leaves, and petricho

I like to dress and smell for the season, I suppose that’s my idea of “staying in flow” with things around me, even though I personally can’t stand summer and sweating. Hence I don’t go out often. But with autumn around the corner, I’ve already begun preparing for my season (and I’m pretty sure I’m far from the only one who loves autumn more than summer lol).

Anyhoo, I’ve already got my faux-leather jackets and mantles out of the winter wardrobe, dusted them off, assessed possible damage, and made some out of season orders for some silky scarves and other stuff that are… unfortunately, totally on-brand for an almost middle school teacher. However, I also need a good perfume to go with my particular sense of fashion.

So like the title suggest, I need some help with fragrances that have a distinct, autumnish smell. Doesn’t have to dry leaves and rain necessarily, both something that makes you think of leaves falling, turning, yellow, something earthy but light and somber. To give you a general idea of what I like, I like cinnamon and amber smells with a bit of a vanilla, and my latest go-to choice is a specific Tobacco Vanille frag by Chez Pierre. I like it a lot, especially the low tobacco notes, but it still feels too “warm” and a bit too sweet for autumn. So I wanna mix it up a little as soon as September comes.

Feel free to mention anything that pops to mind smell-wise when you hear the word “autumn”, it doesn’t have to be some high-end designer perfume either. Indie and offbrand suggestions are all welcome. :)

Can you recommend a replacement for Bobbi Brown Art Stick lip crayon?

The Bobbi Brown art stick jumbo like crayon in Hot Berry is amazing - a bright fuchsia super pigmented Matt crayon that doesn’t budge. They have discontinued it in favour of a version that has liquid in it. Can anyone recommend a high pigment jumbo lip crayon please?

    PLouise and custom fees

Hi, I'm looking to order from PLouise's website, has anyone had custom/shipping fees for orders under 150€? I've contacted the brand and they assured me I wouldn't pay any, but I'm unsure whether that applies to products that are on clearance. Do customs calculate based on the regular price of the items or the discounted one? My total is under 150 currently but it's far more without the discounts, so I'm really unsure.

    Thank you

You should try the 7-Skin method!

Recently, a popular skincare trend from Korea has caught my attention: the 7-Skin Method. Intrigued, I decided to try it using Meditherapy’s Mugwort Toner, a staple in my routine.

The process is simple. After cleansing, apply the toner in seven consecutive layers. The key is to ensure each layer is fully absorbed before applying the next. This can be achieved by gently patting your face multiple times after each application.

By incorporating this method into my nightly routine, followed by a moisturizing cream, I wake up with incredibly hydrated skin that feels plump and refreshed. Additionally, I’ve noticed my makeup applies more smoothly and lasts longer.

I highly recommend giving the 7-Skin Method a try with Meditherapy’s Mugwort Toner. Your skin will thank you!

From your experience: Do fillers ever really dissolve? Did you ever get back to baseline by waiting it out?

Specifically interested to hear about biostimulating fillers like radiesse & sculptra, but also interested in all other stories :)

    Thanks for sharing!

    Work Makeup Advice

    Hi all,

First time poster here but long time lurker of this subreddit! Just looking for some tips on how to improve my work makeup. I still struggle with making my dark circles less visible not matter how much concealer I use, and I’m pretty tired of everyone saying I look tired lol. I’m currently using Fenty Beauty We’re Even Hydrating Long Wear concealer in shade 280C. Open to any and all suggestions and would love any feedback on the rest of my make up as well. Much appreciated!

    Beauty shortcut advice

Hi, New here. And to the world of beauty enhancements. I am fighting the ravages of time in my 40s, starting to admit that I am no longer a looker. Never was, but some of my traits have become somewhat erased. My eyes are small and bland, encircled by dark rings, and the shape of my face has changed from a beautiful oval to a jowly square. Anyhoo, I’m looking for beauty enhancement advice that DOES not require daily makeup. My skin is sensitive (eczema), my eyes are beyond dry and do not tolerate makeup. I’m looking more for somewhat permanent fixes:

    • defining my eyes: permanent makeup? Lash extensions?
    • solving the dark circles - any advance treatments?
    • defining my eyebrows without too much pain (can’t tolerate plucking)
    • hiding the squareness of my face.

All of the enhancements should be as natural looking as possible. I am posting a photo of myself for edification. Much appreciated!
