FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg vs University of Bremen

Hello Fellow Redditors, Seeking advice for selection of the University. I am waiting for the admission decision from both of this Universities. In case I receive admission letters from both, which one is better? What are pros/cons of these two specific Universities and their locations, considering post career opportunities, on-campus and off-campus technical part-time job opportunities, Cost of Living and other things that I haven't listed but should be considered according to you.

Details:

  1. Information and Communication Technology, MSc (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg)

  2. Communication & Information Technology, MSc (University of Bremen)

Your insights will be extremely helpful. Danke im Voraus.

Easter weekend

I’m visiting Bayern over Easter weekend (18-21 Apr). Flying in/out of, and staying in, Munich.

As I have an early flight in on Friday and late one out on Monday I’d planned to use those days to explore Munich - just wanted to check I’m correct that there are left luggage lockers at the Hauptbahnhof?

I was then looking to go to Salzburg and Nürnberg on Sat/Sun using a Bayern ticket each day, haven’t decided the order yet. Am I likely to find things closed en masse on the Sunday? Are there also likely to be train diversions over the weekend due to maintenance work?

Thanks in advance!

Public swimming pools with a view in Bavaria?

I’m working on a possible trip to Bavaria in August. Our family loves to swim, from our 8yo twins to our college athlete. Any favorite public pools, ideally with beautiful scenery? Might need to make a home base near one of them for several days!

Apologies if this should be in another subreddit, but thought it was specific enough that local knowledge may be needed!

Where to hike in Bavaria

I have been leaving for a while in Bavaria, but as an expat I wonder what to do on my friend time, so many of my colleagues always coment on hiking in the mountains. It is pretty difficult to follow the places they are always mentioning, so I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice?

Also in this time of the year I was wondering what should I have as a minimum setup, so I don't get lost or frozen?

Restaurants/Gasthäuser in Waldkirchen

Servus miteinander!

Was habt ihr so unternommen?

Opinions on University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt?

Hi! I'm currently looking at master's degree's options and there's one that caught my attention in the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (or Technische Hochschule Würzburg-Schweinfurt).

Could anyone tell me something about this uni? It doesn't seem to be very high in different rankings I've seen, which is also something important to consider, but I would love to hear some first-hand opinions about it. Thank you!

Bavarian or Baden Fiddle Tunes?

Hello, does anyone know of any Bavarian or Baden fiddle tunes? Anything from the Black Forest, Baden Baden area? I'm interested in the most common, well-known folk tunes, the ones that everyone knows. Even if it's more commonly played as an accordion tune now, I'd be interested.

I'm also interested in really old folk tunes, like ones that originated from before my ancestors moved to the US in the mid-1800s. Or anything later that was popular with Bavarian or Baden immigrants to the US?

Danke!

Does anyone speak their dialect really badly

I tried speaking my local dialect to my siblings and they told me I sounded bad and told me to stop. I think its because I was never popular and spent my formative years on 4chan and youtube. In a way its gatekeeped, but I'll never really be speaking it to anyone anyway.

I want to know if anyone else has the same experience

Cake recipe?

Hello! My parents are currently hosting an exchange student from Bavaria and I offered to make her a cake for her birthday. She mentioned that American cakes are far too sweet to her, which is fair, So I'm wondering if anyone here can provide me with a recipe for a sponge that might be familiar to her?

I tried a Google search, but it's always hard to tell how authentic things are there!

Nachbarin klaut Aschenbecher | Angemessene Reaktion?

Itinerary & Accommodation Advice

this is cross posted from r/Munich

I am heading to Bavaria in December and I am SO STRESSED. I have tried about 10 different itineraries and all of them feel like I’m going to be rushing from place to place. I have 3 goals: • spend every night outside at a Christmas market • spend most of my days outside exploring nature by foot or by bike • be cozy

Here are my two possible itineraries:

Itinerary Option 1: Day 1: Depart Brussels, 5 hour train to Baden Baden Day 2: Baden Baden / Black Forest hike Day 3: depart Baden Baden in rental car, drive southern coast through Lake Constance and Fussen. End in Garmisch-Partenkircheb Day 4: Take tram up Zugspitze Day 5: Depart Garmisch, visit Mittenwald, end in Munich. Day 6: Explore Munich, maybe Dachau visit. Day 7: train to Nuremberg Day 8: Nuremberg Day 9: early morning train from Nuremberg to Frankfurt airport

Sleeps: 2 nights Baden Baden, 2 nights Garmisch, 2 nights Munich, 2 nights Nuremberg

Itinerary Option 2 Day 1: explore Brussels, depart on train at 7pm, overnight 12 hrs to Munich Day 2: Arrive Munich 630am, relax and explore city, market at night Day 3: train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, hike, market, sleep Day 4: Tram to Zugspitze, market, sleep Day 5: ?? Salzburg? Day 6: bike ride in Ingolstadt, train to Nuremberg Day 7: Nuremberg explore, night market Day 8: Nuremberg, afternoon train to Frankfurt, market? Day 9: Depart Frankfurt

Sleeps: 1 night train, 1 night Munich, 2 nights Garmisch, 1 night closer to Munich, 2 nights Nuremberg, 1 night Frankfurt

An aspirational goal is to only have 3-4 different places for sleep. 3 would be ideal. Is there somewhere we could stay that is kind of in between Munich/Salzburg/Garmisch that we could stay for 3-4 nights and easily get to all of the spots we want to visit?

Initially I came here to ask if anyone knew of a great resource to find stays in cozy farmhouses around this area. I want to be close enough to ride bikes into main cities and markets, but I don’t love being in the middle of a big city. I want some peace and comfort.

I am also looking for any recommendations for great bike rides or outdoor activities in these areas and/or advice on these wild itineraries.

Thanks for reading and for any help you can provide me :)
