Just an advice to all hardcore Bangalore metro train card users
If you have an SBI cashback CC or HDFC millenia CC or HDFC swiggy CC, get an amazonpay Gift card and load it to Amazon pay balance and recharge your metro card with that amazonpay balance You'll get 5% cashback on your CC transactions and 5% cashback as swiggy money on swiggy CC
Alternative Use amazonpay CC itself on Amazon, you'll get 2% cashback back in Amazonpay balance
By default metro card gives 5% cashback directly on rides, and an extra cashback from the CC can give you another 5%
Effectively 8-10% cashback on your metro rides.
Else use any other cashback credit card, recharge your metro card via any other means online, get at least 1% cashback
Is there anyone here who has experience working or is currently working as an Informatica IDQ developer? I'm seeking some insights/advice. Kindly help.TIA
In my opinion they have become the worst service company. Seeing that they do a service, they don’t let you reach their customer care in case of issues. And if you reach them by happenstance, they are least bothered to resolve issues.
Share your thoughts and recent experience.

Recently moved to Bangalore in Prestige Shantiniketan and was wondering if there is any dungeons & dragons scene in the society.
I have been having trouble making friends and reading books ever since I came to the city. I am looking for like-minded people who could encourage each other to read. The intention is to keep each other accountable for reading. Let me know if anybody is interested. We could start off by creating a discord group and having reading sessions together. And maybe if time permits, we could even meet-up in person. DM me for the discord link! :)
Where can I find a personal swimming instructor? I prefer not to join group lessons due to my fear of water and would like to learn at a pace that's comfortable for me.
As an Overseas Citizen of India residing in a second-tier city in Tamil Nadu with my Indian citizen wife, I am interested in establishing a software consulting service company in India in collaboration with her. We are contemplating whether to register the company in Bengaluru or in Tamil Nadu. The prospect of relocating to Bengaluru in the future due to factors like talent availability and our preference for a larger city is also under consideration. On the other hand, we may choose to remain in our current location and develop the company there.
Given these factors, the decision of where to register the company becomes critical. Initially, registering in Bengaluru may present advantages for international client engagement. However, operating in two states (Tamil Nadu and Karnataka) could introduce complexities in compliance with varying regulations such as GST and labor laws. Additionally, while cities in Tamil Nadu, especially second-tier ones, offer incentives like Special Economic Zones (SEZs) that could benefit smaller companies like ours, Bengaluru may provide more incentives targeted towards larger corporations.
It is unclear whether this choice significantly impacts day-to-day operations, as both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are known for their favorable working environments.
I will love to hear your view points.
Hey Bangaloreans,
Let's talk about a pressing issue that many of us in areas like Electronic City and Koramangala face: the lack of metro connectivity. Despite being bustling hubs of activity, these areas are still not serviced by metro lines, leaving residents and commuters grappling with inadequate transportation options.
The reliance on buses as the primary mode of transportation is proving to be increasingly challenging, especially during peak hours when buses are overcrowded and struggle to keep up with the demand. Many of us have experienced the frustration of long waits at bus stops, only to find buses packed to the brim, making the commute uncomfortable and unreliable.
The absence of a metro link not only exacerbates traffic congestion but also contributes to longer commute times and increased pollution levels. With the rapid expansion of residential and commercial developments in these areas, the need for efficient and accessible public transportation options has become more urgent than ever.
As residents of these vibrant neighborhoods, it's crucial for us to raise awareness about the transportation challenges we face and advocate for solutions that prioritize the well-being and convenience of all commuters. Whether it's through increased bus frequency, the introduction of alternative transportation modes, or the expedited extension of metro lines, our voices can make a difference in shaping the future of transportation in Bangalore.
Let's start a conversation and work towards creating a more sustainable and commuter-friendly transportation system for Electronic City, Koramangala, and beyond.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas on this important issue!

I recently got my hair coloured from delhi and shifted to Bangalore. Given that I have frizzy hair, I am thinking of keratin/botox treatment. But Bangalore water and its effect on hair is infamously known to all. Is it a good idea to get these hair treatments done with the hard water here? Looking for girls to share their experience on having highlights+keratin
I haven't been living the corporate life for too long, a little short of three years. And I acknowledge that living this life is also a big privilege -- I'm in it for the money. This money also makes me think that my isolation is the biggest problem in my life currently, since I am not struggling to make ends meet.
But every other day I don't want to do this anymore. I don't have a social life, I am always finding ways to trick my brain into believing that I am not that alone after all. Joy feels so short-lived. I can't stop dreaming about a slower life, a life where nobody asks me what my weekend plans are.
I've found some solace in communities - dancing, board games, volunteering. But there are days when that doesn't give me joy either. I wish this sense of community was as accessible as walking down the road and saying hi to my friends everyday - kind of like Oswald taking his daily walks. I see the older people in my society hanging out together on evenings and it makes me a little happy. I wish I had a small community to chit chat with like that. Sigh.

Public parks: If you go at 10:00 AM in the morning they are closed; If you go at 3 PM in the afternoon, they are still not open; If you go at 8 pm in the night they are again closed
As per BBMP, Bangalore has 1000 public parks which is about one per every 12000 population. In a city where there are no footpaths, where does the government expect anyone to take a stroll or sit peacefully if not parks.
This has to change

I recently moved to Bangalore and plan to move my newly purchased two wheeler (currently in my home city - Guwahati) from my home city to here.
I plan to stay in Bangalore for a maximum of 2 years (24 months). This means that I can't afford to re-register my vehicle there as I'll be moving back to Guwahati after this 2-year period ends.
I've heard that we need to get an NOC from the home RTO that allows us to ride our vehicle in any other state. I asked my friends to confirm with their friends and family who've moved to the different city and they said that only commercial vehicles need such an NOC.
I then confirmed with a traffic police officer here in Bangalore, who said that yes, we just need to get an NOC from the home state, that's all.
EDIT: A lot of people are asking me to ride without pulling unnecessary attention. Just to clarify, my bike is an Aprilia RS 457, with me sitting on it all geared up with gloves and an expensive helmet. This causes A LOT of unnecessary attention, including from the cops. Thus, the NOC that I'm asking about becomes more of a necessity.
Any advice from people who've been in a similar situation?
Is it possible to foster dogs for a few months in Bangalore?
Someone I know is interested in getting dogs permanently but I don’t think they realise the responsibilities that come with being a pet parent. I feel like fostering will help them see if they’re up for the challenges and sacrifices before taking the big step.
If you or anyone you know has done this before then please leave details below on what the process was like and how you felt afterwards.
