Did you know that when Disneyland first opened in 1955, the Tomorrowland Autopia ride allowed kids to drive their own miniature cars—without a track to guide them? It was a thrilling and chaotic experience for young visitors!

Hello all,
I am thinking about getting into the supplement business here possibly in the near future. I was interested in serving the baby boomer generating as that is the generation of my parents. My father in particular is a kidney transplant recipient and he sometimes asks me about what supplements etc he could be taking to help his longevity and overall health. As I dug into it I noticed there aren't to many brands that are catered to this generation. Don't get me wrong there are million supplement companies out there but nothing directed towards the needs of Boomers that I could find. So, I would be curious to hear from the baby boomers as to what they look for in their supplements and what are key factors that are important them.
Can a baby boomer please answer the following questions.
1 Based on your work experience, describe your work expectations and level of satisfaction. What role did HR have in your overall level of satisfaction based on your experience with the organization?
2 In your experience, what ways has HR engaged the workforce? Can you provide some examples? Are there ways that HR can better engage the workforce?
3 Are you aware of the process that the organization has in reporting ethical issues or situations?
4 What is your impression of different generations in the workplace? Have you observed differences in workplace expectations between different generational cohorts?
If you are a boomer you remember that commercial. I remember watching Ed Sullivan the night Elvis was on the first time. I was maybe five years old. I said to my mother, "I like that man." He was gyrating and twisting away. My mother sort of smiled and said, well I'm sure he doesn't like little girls. I paid no attention to her of course. Then the Beatles...omg. I felt like I was losing my mind. I'd lay awake at night to hear the AM radio station play my favorite Beatles song, transistor beneath my pillow. My mom bought me a Beatles sweatshirt and go-go boots. I tried to cut me some bangs to look Carnaby street and looked foolish instead. I learned to Twist, Jerk, and Mashed Potato, and the Slop and the Bop. We learned how to Madison at the local community center and the Alley Cat. I loved Spin and Marty and Annette, didn't miss the Mickey Mouse Club. I don't recall kids swearing at all, or that many fights. We were so innocent, so calm, so peaceful. We played on our bikes, hoola hoops, caught fireflies. No one spoke out of turn in the classroom, and the teachers were pretty in their wide skirts and short haircuts. I had a teacher in the sixth grade that listened to Peter Paul and Mary and Odetta, and he'd bring his albums to school for us to hear. We had dinner. We'd sleep quietly. Milk was delivered to the door. The doctor came to our house if we were sick. We knew nothing of sex or body parts and didn't care. When mom came home with a new baby we weren't concerned with where or how it was made, we just liked it. Why was Christmas so magical then? The smell of Play doh, my brothers toy guns that shot caps and smelled up the house. Tea sets and dolls. Holidays were wonderful, we'd visit the grandparents farm and chase chickens, and eat green apples, and fresh biscuits for breakfast. When people put down boomers I also remind them that we were the generation that went to Vietnam, that fought for women's rights, birth control, and civil rights. I watched the moon landing. I cried in the class room when the teacher said, "The president's been shot." I wanted to go to Woodstock but wasn't quite old enough and couldn't drive. So I sat in the theater and re-lived it with my friends. I cried when Jimmy Hendrix died, sat in the school parking lot with friends as some radio DJ talked about him. I drove to Berkeley to experience my life, and to hear the free speech preachers who littered the campus. I slept in cars, on floors and drank capucinnos on Telegraph ave. Walked barefoot and wore Patchouli. I got married, had two kids but I am still that person, and I am proud of boomers, who are rapidly dying off now. We protested, we marched, when it wasn't fashionable.
Would love to hear from older adults. Many adults in their reproductive years are not having children these days, whether that be due to financial, environmental, or other concerns. Wondering if people further along in life have regretted their personal decision? I understand that it's possible to fully love your child with all your heart but if a do-over was possible, perhaps some people would choose the opposite path? I also believe it was less socially acceptable to be childfree a few decades ago which could've played a role.
Hi all,
My parent’s 50th wedding anniversary is in July. What is something cool or memorable from July 1974 (or 1974 in general) that would make a good gift?
Hello, I'm looking for responses to an academic survey from older generations, particularly Baby Boomers, but I'm having trouble finding places to share it. Do you have any suggestions on where I might find people willing to take this online survey? It's about leadership and work engagement.
Also if you'd like to be part of my research, here's the survey: https://forms.gle/gooCwsmfgTVB14bg8
Thanks! :)
I need to ask a question. We moved to a 55+ neighborhood for the first time 6 years ago. I was excited about it, thinking we'd be with Like Minded People all pulling together. Wrong.
My question is: Would you like your neighborhood to be kept (A) Asthetically pleasing, generally following rules. (B).Let go, no rules (C).Don't care either way.
I ask because our comm is manufactured homes, not a trailer park, with big lots, fenced yards. I was told when we bought six years ago that you MUST put in a front yard. A couple homes here never have. That bothers me but husb says don't complain because we had to break a couple HOA rules. We had more than 2 pets & our dau/gr'dau had to live with us until an apt was avail in 4 mo.
The common areas in our 'park' are not maintained. Every time I complain about it, they raise the rent. It started at $310/mo & is now $560/mo. Weeds are popping up everywhere & I can't pull them all alone. I know a lot of us have handicaps. I do myself. I am 70+ & have arthritis everywhere, overweight, post two fractures from falls. But I still try to pull a few weeds a day.
Is it just not important to people to want to beautify where they live?
There is a walking path in our hood. I created a circle of rocks & painted the names of those neighbors I know of who have passed. I planted flower seeds there & go water it daily. I also weed around it. I always left a little pile of weeds & came back for them later on my e-bike.
Someone in our circle has thrown the painted rocks I made around & thrown the weeds I pulled back into the dirt, to re-root. Why would someone be so spiteful? I wish I could set up a camera & see who does it. It's bad enuf some here have woodworking hobbies in their garage but can't be bothered to pull a weed. I ordered online a special standing weed-puller because I prefer that to poison. But to go out of your way to destroy a tribute to neighbors is beyond my comprehension.
I could write a book about our 55+ Community & the oddballs who live in it. Might become a bestseller. I know I'm one of the oddballs. I'm bi-polar (mixed race child of Arctic & Antarctic parents who did not stay together), on meds, just want to live out my days in an aesthetically pleasing environ since I deal with chronic pain.
Any comments? Are you Type A, B, or C?
Hi! Sharing a simple app I built to turn a memory into a memoir: https://mymemoirs.app/
My dad uses that phrase to describe a big party "back in the day". I never heard that phrase except from him. He claims it was commonly used.
Cover undereye redness/blue/purple that developed at around age 65. I'm 70 now (female). The redness is genetic. I've tried a lot of things to cover it even a little bit but nothing works. I don't mind aging but I am touchy about this. I'm hoping someone has a cosmetic mix that helps cover it.
Background: I live in a small Midwestern community of about 500 people. I know many of them, interact with many, and am active on social media so I do keep up with a lot of the local happenings.
I was invited to a retirement party last evening. Smallish affair, nothing special just some cake and punch, beer, and cash bar. People tend to congregate with their families at these things and since it’s a small community, many people are interrelated.
I chose not to attend, gave my regards, and said I was busy. The deal is that I was at one of these ‘do’s two weeks ago with the same people and the same setup which was exactly like the one I attended a month or so before. Every gathering here, be it wedding or post-funeral dinner, birthday party, whatever is exactly the same. The same tired stories, the same guys wearing feed stores hats, the same people wanting to make sure that everyone sees them drinking. The population ranges from child to old person and it’s like they are locked in the same static, behavior.
Don’t get me wrong, these folks are nice, supportive of the community and school, but I don’t see the point of hanging out anymore. Do others my in my peerage ever feel the same way?
Hey Baby Boomers,
Just so you know, I will be ending the Modern Technology Survey at 9:00pm tonight because I have enough responses for my English essay. Thank you for those who have responded to my survey as it will greatly help me in writing my essay.
Hey, I am Lucy, a year 12 student studying society and culture.
This 2 minute questionnaire on your opinions of space tourism was made for my HSC PIP.
Space tourism is a growing industry that includes going to space for recreational purposes. An example of this is Jeff Bezos's rocket that went into orbit in 2021.
Your anonymous answers will help me explore the impact of space tourism on society and compare the opinions of each generation.
