Hi, I've been looking to buy mudflaps for my Audi, but I can't find any made for the B5 Avant. I see bunch of options for A6 C5 and Passat B5 and was wondering would any of them fit. Looking forward suggestions from you guys.
My fuel gauge in my 02 s4 is acting weird. It reads backwards, so when the gauge says empty it’s actually full and same for the other way around. If I ever fully fill up the tank the gauge won’t work at all until about half a tank. The past 3 tanks the gauge hasn’t worked at all. I pulled the fuel pump out and the wires seem fine. I was posing here to see if there’s anything I can do to test or fix this issue.
This morning in Uppsala, Sweden
Got a strange thing that I noticed on a recent road trip. Once I got below about 4500 ft above sea level, and down to sea level, my A4 Quattro (1996 B5), started to act a little funny. If I was coming upon another car and let off the gas, then step back on the gas to accelerate, I would get a hesitation before it would seem to kick back in.
Wouldn’t really do this from a dead stop, but generally always when I was letting off the gas and then stepping back on the gas. Not 100% of the time. Also, would occasionally feel like a slight power loss when upshifting (manual) getting up to freeway speed.
Noticed this thru 3 tanks of gas. All 91 octane.
However, when I got back toward home, and above 4,500 ft above sea level, that all went back away.
Have recently replaced spark plugs to the Audi recommended ones. Also, replaced air filter, and fuel filter, and O2 sensors. My MPG was roughly 26.6 - so it didn’t go down.
My initial thought while it started happening was the fuel pump. However, I’m now flummoxed having returned home and the issue going away. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue? Should I replace the fuel filter? Could it be the MAF, but if it’s the MAF why would it only happen below a certain elevation? I don’t think it’s a vacuum line, as the MPG didn’t suddenly drop. Would love to know what I should check so I can remedy the issue as I have to make the same trip in January. Thank you for any advice.
Morning folks, posting on behalf of my non so tech savvy father.
He’s got a 1.8T and it’s his absolute baby, genuinely think he loves that car more than me! Anyhow, it’s developed a horrendous misfire when it’s been parked on a slope, or goes up a steep incline. So far he’s changed: Plugs, Coils, Rocker cover gasket, N75, Fuel pressure regulator
He’s had half a dozen mechanics look at it, plugged into various code readers and nobody can work out what’s wrong with it.
Has anybody got any suggestions? He’s at his absolute wits end with her, and keeps saying he’ll have to get rid. Cheers
Hello everyone!
1.8T Avant Quattro 180 owner here. Every morning, when I start the car, the engine sounds like a 3 cylinder TDI diesel for like 2-3 seconds and then it quiets down and runs smoothly. It doesn't make that noise if I start the car often during day, only if it sits for almost one day. Anyone had this issue or know what it could be? Here's a video I made with the noise wich I talked about.
Many thanks to all of you, love+++
I’ve seen it asked and nobody has really answered it, I realized that I had no idea what the difference was so now I ask.
Anybody know how many pelican blue b5 were made. And how many were in the US? I regret selling mine because it was fairly clean for almost 300k and a kid spray painted it black then sent it to a junkyard. Little did I know back then I'd never find another one again. I deeply deeply miss this car
Hi, i've heard it's a good idea to get a fluidampr for 1.8t engines when going for higher revs (personal goal 7.5~8k). Does anyone know if there are any fluidamprs for longitudinal engines (mine's AEB) for sale in europe? I only seem to find ones for the transverse engines and the shipping costs from the US are crazy. TIA
I’m looking for suggestions for a intake manifold for my 1.8T 01 a4 Quattro, This is the one from apikol ^
Well my daily driver since 2008 got totaled on October 9th, 2023, I had a guy blow a red and total my car. So I have a set of MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW 225/45R17 94H XL BSW WINTER TIRE mounted on the original rims that got put on in January 2022 and taken off in April 2022. I'd say probably 2-3k miles on them. They have been sitting in my garage in the bags since then. With insurance all wrapped up it’s time for them to go.
I am not looking to make top dollar here. I am going to accept the first offer in the comments I think is reasonable. Don't DM me trying to offer me more than an individual. The real caveat is I am in the Seattle area and am not going to deal with shipping. I occasionally travel East as far as Missoula so something could be worked out that I could bring them with me.
To clarify, I am getting rid of the tires AND rims.
I've had my coolant drained and replaced, and they put some kind of leak-stop product in with the coolant.
car drives nice and keep s exactly 90C on the dash meter in traffic and on road. When idling with ac off in +5C, and manually holding the clutch fan still, it comes to let's say 92C and the clutch fan starts jerking and wanting to start, at 95 the electric fan comes on low stage, and it falls to 90.
But it needs revs to make heat inside.
I hung up the expansion bottle and bled air out of the heater core, like in this video:
https://youtu.be/N09UdcCUMJM?si=whZ164lMTPZJno61
It got better, but not good.
I still get coolish air on idle despite the engine is at 90C and it's now +4C outside. I have driven this car comfortably in -30C many times.
Do you think the stop-leak clogged up my heater core, and do we think it'll help rinsing it out or am I doomed to a cold winter?
Can some one tell me what this is? B5 s4 everytime I mess with it I hear a hissing sound. Any info would be appreciated
So couple days ago I had gotten my fmic piping and noticed on my aeb I don’t have a map sensor, with that what should I do with the map bung in my intercooler pipe? Or is the map sensor somewhere else that I’m not thinking of ? Need help lmk what yall think.
Hello everyone! I've recently got myself a pre facelift Avant. It's in a rough shape interior wise, door cards are pretty beat up and the seats are torn. So, the question would be - I've looked through numerous of forums and couldn't find a straight forward answer - without doing extensive (or any) modifications to the seat mountings, could I, let's say, fit the seats from the B5+ or B5 passat, or am I limited to the pre facelift and facelift seats? They are fully manual, if that changes anything?
Sister’s B5 A4 Avant 1.8T quattro 5AT needs one. Seeing OE is discontinued, leaving CSF 3360 and Nissens. There may also be a Mahle-Behr.
Any good reasons to choose one over the other? She’s had enough cooling system headaches so looking for one that will last!
Thanks all.
Title; headliner in the back is starting to sag in my S4, mainly in the back seat from (I think) driving with the window open - flaps in the breeze.
What does everyone use to fix this?
Now the car wont go into gear when engine is on.
Clutch seemed fine before, no sign its worn out to the point of failure or anything. Enough fluid, brake and clutch pedals feels fine. No vibration or sounds as if TO/Pilot bearing is bad. Goes into gear when turned off. Resistance is same as before this happend. Not had any gear related issues before this point. Parked it, started up to drive and doesnt go into gear anymore.
Ideas?
Just bought a set of D2S ecodes to replace my OEM housings with an LED conversion kit but I need a set of ballasts so I might as well upgrade to get brighter lights. can anybody help me with what I need from morin to to have working headlights? many thanks!
I have a B5 S4 thats gotten this rattling/clicking noise shortly after being bought.
Thoughts? Cam chain?
