This might be more of an ornithological question, but: do you think the Mexica really saw a Golden Eagle, as commonly depicted? I know that species prefers mountainous regions, but were they common in the Texcoco Valley at that time? Could it more likely have been a juvenile Bald Eagle, or a Red-Tailed Hawk, or anything else? I realize that this is more legend than history, but I’m genuinely curious as to what large raptors might have been in the area circa 1300 or so. Any insight would be appreciated!

I’m new to Aztec culture I’m Chicano but Aztec gods are just catching my attention.. how can you work or worship Aztec gods ? Do they pick you or you start the practice? I’m learning the names but theirs so many of them I don’t know where to start .
I’m wondering if this song was composed by the modern artist Huehuecuicatl, or if it is a recreation of an ancient Aztec song. If it is indeed a recreation of an ancient Aztec song, what proof is there to support this claim?
