I only just noticed today that my axolotls arm appears as it’s been nearly ripped off, I noticed the other day that he had a red rash on his arm and finger tips but thought it would pass like last time but now the skin is ac coming off and I don’t know why, he is the same size as the tank mates and he has been perfectly healthy for all the time I have had him, any help would be appreciated.
My axoltol won't stop floating to the top of his tank. He's been doing it since I woke at 8am and now at 12am. He can't sink. He's eating and his parameters are perfect. His tank temp is 63F and he looks normal other than how he's been constantly swimming back and forth all day while floating. I've had him for 4 years and he's never done this before.
Hello all,
I recently got a new juvenile axie and I’ve loved every minute of caring for him. However, I get unstoppable anxiety leaving him alone for long hours of the day. I am a college student commuting so some days i will be gone from 5 am-9 pm. My anxiety has gotten to the point that I will have my housemates check on him while I’m gone and text me the temperature of the tank.
I find myself frequently getting out of bed to check his water temperature, and I have to stare at him until he flicks his gills so that I know he’s alive. I have not been negligent. I cycled his tank properly and installed fans, air stones and hides and did months of research before purchasing him so I don’t know why I’m so worried. When I wake up I rush to his tank to make sure he’s okay and end up staying awake until my alarm goes off.
Also, I have a constant fear that he will jump out of his tank and dry out while i’m gone. I installed a reptile lid on the tank so he can’t jump.
If he passed away due to something I could’ve done differently I would never forgive myself. I enjoy his presence and have overal been happier after getting him, but my anxiety levels have gone up significantly. Was this anyone else’s situation?
When I got my axolotol, his tail had a chunck missing, and its been about 2 monts and his tail is not healing. Its not the chunky part but the thin part of his tail. Couldent get a good photo.
Hello I am cycling a tank for my axolotl that I got at a convention from my mom and I am wondering are my parameters ok and should I do something or just let it be. Also the water in the nitrite bottle is a little down because I dropped it after it was done.
Just a happy dude living his best life. We were given him as a surprise gift by a neighbor about 2 years ago (he got him from a shady breeder), and after frantically researching his proper care and feeding we've gotten him in pretty good health and pretty happy.
I got two new babies and right now they’re tubbed because the tank was already set up with sand for my previous boy but they’re not big enough for sand yet. The thing is they absolutely hate me trying to pick them up with anything when I clean out their tubs. If I try they freak out and will try to jump out of the tank and it takes me like 20 minutes for each one. Does anyone have any advice on how to make it easier and less stressful for them?
A friend was taking care of my axolotls while I was away for a week and when I came home there were lots of uneaten works in the tank. I removed the worms and did a 30% water change and this is what my water parameters are. Please help!!
Who’s the cutie pie 🥰
I need to get the pH in our tank up, has anyone used this brand (Betapet)? Just want to make sure it's reputable and axie friendly! Thanks!
Super tiny. He’s about 2-3 inches long right now. Still a baby
My java moss unfortunately looks like it's died. It's been brown for a few months now. I haven't seen bio film and there's still structure supposedly, but it's looking like it might just be a lost cause. Thoughts?
I was gifted these plants, already glued. But I don’t know what they are..
I've been following this group for a couple months and know I will get some hate, but basically my dad has a few axolotls and they had eggs, he was going to let them eat their own eggs but I felt mean on them so put them in my pond to give them a chance at least
I now have 12+ axolotl in a 2000 litre pond and had them 4 months now, most of them reaching 2 inches or so, a couple smaller than that. One died when I was cleaning some blanket weed unfortunately.
I feed them frozen blood worms, fresh blood worms, fresh dapnia and fresh shrimp, and pellets I use a turkey baster to get out as much unused food as I can.
My questions are
Every time I put fresh stuff in they basically all go within a couple days.
I want them all to stay healthy and live long lives, just looking for advise
I honestly would love to get one but since there’s not an exotic vet within a 50 mile radius of me that’s not something I’d feel comfortable with since I have absolutely no experience with them. So could I see pics of y’all’s please?
Here’s my newest baby, Pikachu 😁😁😁
My axolotl started with redness on their finger toes around a week ago, the original leg where it started now isn't red but one hand and this leg have damaged finger/toes/claws(?) Parameters 18c max (at night goes to 16) 10 nitrate (it was around 40 2 weeks ago but I managed to get them down for like 4 days now) 0 nitrite and no ammonia.
They're on a tea bath rn, second day, I thought at first it was red leg but it never spread, I dunno if it was a crash I didn't see or if they damaged their fingers somehow.
Do I keep the tea baths? They're still eating and pooping normally
There's no vet that treats axolotl on my city hence why I'm here
