Rules/ Szabályok / Die Ordnung

  • 1. The official language of this subreddit is English since the German education in Hungary has decreased in the last 100 years. And this is also helpful for those who are not from the ex-AH countries.

BUT feel free to type in your mother tongue and then write the English equivalent of your comment.

  • 2. This subreddit is for people who are sympathizing with the idea of a reunited empire (either only Austria and Hungary in their current form or all the lost territories). If you feel threatened by this please refrain from posting things that can get you banned (e.g. xenophobic comments and racism). You can always simply not visit this site.

We also warmly welcome history buffs. Content and discussion about history is always nice.

Szívesen látjuk a történelem rajongókat.

Help needed with document from 1864

So, I’ve got my hands on this family heirloom. It’s from 1864, so before the Compromise, and it is something to do with resignation from an infantry regiment.

Unfortunately I can’t speak german, nor I’m familiar with Habsburg era documents. Can someone help me deduce, what kind of document is this exactly?

In the Austro-Hungarian Empire we did not have any tanks, but actually managed to field few different type of armoured cars. The most widely produced one as the Junovicz PA1 with five been built and actually performed fairly well over the years.

Do the Habsburgs have any Croatian ancestry?

It's confirmed that the British royal family has some Croatian lineage, thanks to Francis of Teck (whose mom was from the lower Hungarian nobility). However, I haven't yet managed to find any Croatian ancestry in other European royal houses, including the Habsburgs. So if anyone has some insider knowledge, I'm all ears.

Question about Infantry Regiment Records

Hello all. I am working on my Great Grandfather's history and he was killed in action. Near Doberdo from his military records. He was a Czech and was originally in the 36th regiment, but when that was disbanded he was sent to the 82nd IR. From what I can discover, the 82nd fought on the Eastern Front. Is there a place where I could see the records of where different regiments fought. I would just like to me a little more sure about where he died. Any help is appreciated.

Help identifying uniform authentication hi

Hi all, I posted this on r/WW1 but I was told that posting here might help! I’m trying to find out if this uniform is authentic or a fake, it’s supposedly a Czech uniform from the time but it looks different from everything I’ve seen online! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We need better flair

In Kaiserposting for example they have a ton of unique post flair. I don't think we should make our own versions of the stuff they have, but we could definitley use a wider variety that has charm to it.

Maybe also user flair while you are at it.

Mods: Please, that would make this place better.
Others: Comment with ideas.

Looking for my great-grandparent's hometowns/info!

I'm in search of my great-grandparent's hometowns! I found this on what I believe is his WWI draft card. We know the family was Croatian/spoke Croatian. I can't read the town well, I think it may be Novska or Novačka? Want some insight into any other town possibilities!

Additionally, a few last names in our family have been altered and they are now spelled Frankovitch/Petrusich but what would be the Croatian version of these? Thanks!
