Hi friends. I’m a creative from L.A. looking to potentially move to Austin for a bit just to try it out. I’m (34m) no kids, not married, no pets. Really just trying to switch things up and also hopefully find a lower cost of living situation. LA is great but it has gotten quite expensive out here. I am a singer/songwriter and write my own original music. My preferred genre is Punk with a hint of post-hardcore and some Emo. I also do a bit of acting as well. I’m really just looking for more creative opportunities in a new place for a while and wanted to see what you guys recommend or any heads up. Now granted, I know nowhere is perfect and I’m not expecting it to be perfect haha. Anyhow, let’s keep it civil and friendly. Thanks friends!
What’s up Austin, my band just dropped a pretty dope single on the 25th. Throw it on your playlist if you vibe with it:)
Howdy. I moved to austin from san francisco a little over a year ago and now that I'm settled in l'd love to get back into performing again. I'm interested in starting a hard rock/metal cover band but open to anything to be honest. I've played guitar for 14 years and would love a drummer bassist singer and another guitarist. Dm me if interested.
Established band playing gothic rock seeks vocalist. DM for details.
Looking to meet some folks who are also interested / passionate about audio technology. If you make plugins, write DSP, build synths, w/e I’d love to meet up and nerd out about this stuff
Hey everyone! New to the group but I may be moving to Austin here soon and was wondering how the drum scene was? I’ve been playing for over 15 years and have some gigging experience.
We have a good set of original music and still need a singer that can be available in round rock for weekly practice. We are established musicians and need someone that can jump on stage and work a crowd. PM me for rough recordings made during our practices. Thanks!
Been playing with a band for 6ish months now and we feel very ready for our first gig. We also made a pretty good demo and have been emailing it to venues non stop…but still crickets.
Any tips/advice? I know “good” is relative but feels like this town may just have an oversupply of amateur bands seeking stage time. Interested to hear y’all’s thoughts.

Hey Austin,
Been playing piano for almost 20 years now and long story short I won't have access to my keyboard for a month or two. Ideally I don't want to rent one because it would be kind of a pain for such a short time. Any suggestions on what I could do to get some practice in for maybe an hour every few days until I get mine back? So far I've considered,
* UT Austin music resources (based on my research it wouldn't be allowed, though apparently don't check ID to access the music building and I'd fit right in at 23yo)
* Asking a local store if I can come in every once in a while and use their display pianos. Seems like this might be good for business and in their interest but not sure
Anyone have other ideas?
Hi,
I want to play indie rock similar to bands like Nada Surf, Pedro The Lion, The Replacements, Eve 6, Everclear, Travis, Pixies, Spoon. A little 90s rock, a little brit rock, a little early 2000s indie rock. I write, sing and play rhythm guitar and bass. I'm looking to keep it local, try and play consistently. I have kids, I don't drink or anything like that any more. You can but not looking to do all the nonsense. I just want to play some songs with others, play out here and there and maybe pretty often down the road around Austin.
Let me know if you have any interest. Thank you.

I recorded this demo by myself in my room to showcase my sound and connect with like-minded musicians. I’d really appreciate it if you could take a listen, share your thoughts, or pass it along to other musicians who might be interested.
BIG NEWS! Hole In The Wall is now doing an open mic the last Sunday of every month on the legendary front stage where Townes, Blaze, and many others have played.
Coming up… Oct 24 Nov 27 Dec 29
I’m still trying to get people together and choose a place to get together and have drinks, get to know each other, talk about our current projects or inspirations; and talk about music theory.
I am thinking only once a month since we all have so much going on. I don’t want to make it once a week.
I’m open to suggestions for meetup spots. It’s just for fun and to scratch our music theory itch. I was thinking cherrywood cafe since I’m central.
Do you love any of the following bands?
Popol Vuh Neu! Amon Düül Cluster Ashra
If yes lets chat!
Hey everyone. We are a local alt rock band looking to network with other rock bands to play shows with around town. If you like our sound reach out! https://open.spotify.com/track/3CfL8Ms32rnZCP21ofIuzD?si=2f24393409e94df4
I try to go to a few shows every month. Any shows your recommend in November?
I'm gonna be visiting Austin in November for a longer period of time. I'd love to go and explore Austin music scene. Where can I find info about upcoming shows? I mean not well known national acts that come through the city but local bands on different levels? I'm mostly into rock/metal.
TLDR: two guitarists looking for experienced bassist, male vocalist and a drummer for 90s influenced band (desert/sludge/grunge). We need people with time and commitment.
We're moving soon to Texas and we want to start working on music asap.

Hi! We are a couple (both guitarists) originally from Poland that moved three years ago to the US to be exact St. Petersburg, FL. We're planning to move one more time this time to Texas and music is a main reason for our decision. We play desert/sludge with a little bit of 90s Seattle influences and some Tool-ish vibes here and there.
We're gonna move for good in January but we're gonna visit the state in November for 2-3 weeks. We're probably looking at moving to Austin/San Antonio area but we'll see as it depends on factors like where we have the most quality replies and a job situation.
We need fellow musicians to join us and help us to push our material to the next level and write some more tunes so we can release our very first album and tour. We need a bassist, a male vocalist and of course a drummer. We need reliable good musicians that already recorded stuff and played shows and that are passionate about this kind of music and want to join us to make meaningful music. That's it in a nutshell. If you are interested in please send me links to bands that you played with and we can also provide some early homemade demos and drafts of what we have so far. The most important characteristics that good band-mates have are reliability, honesty, creativity and determination. At least that's what we learnt in our bands. So we're looking for people like that. If you want to know more about this band keep reading
So we both have been playing in bands in Poland some of them broke up before releasing anything, some of them actually succeeded if it comes to putting the music out. I played in a stoner/desert band called MAW and recorded two records with them also writing a good chunk of the material. Kamil played in a death/black/doom band called Rites Of Daath and released an EP and a LP with them writing most part of their music. We also played shows etc.
That's why we're searching for people that have similar level of experience or are more experienced than us. St. Pete as awesome as it is to live over there is a tough place to find what we're looking for music wise. There's not much going on there if it comes to this type of style. That's why we're moving as we really want to get back to play with a real band for people that love music.
We have quite a bit of material written like around 4 songs that are quite advanced and around 5-6 drafts. It's quite dynamic material vibe wise. We're shooting to make a consistent, coherent album like 50 minutes long.
Thanks!
Hi, I released an EP with a couple demos recently, would love it if you checked it out
Is there still a healthy classic country with pedal steel scene happening in Austin ? Like Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, George Jones, Wynn Stewart, Lefty Frizell, Ray Price sort of stuff ?
I should clarify, I’m a guitarist who would want to play with pedal steel and go for a classic country sound. I do some cover and write my own stuff as well but I know covers is where it’s at if you want to gig. So I’d be doing classic country, playing guitar and singing and in search of pedal steel as it’s essential to that style.
40 year old in North Austin looking for people to jam with. Been playing guitar for over 20 years and playing drums for over 5 years now. Into everything from experimental, psychedelic, post-punk, black metal, sludge metal etc.
I'm mostly just looking to do this to be social and stuff. I'd be cool to be in another band but that's not a priority I'd want to rush to do.
I do have a job and my own transportation. I do have all the guitar for guitar and most of the gear for drums. (I would love to have a reason to get a complete drum kit on credit)
If you want, I can send you some links of bands I played guitar in but the stuff is old and out-of-date fyi.
Please DM me and please don't use the Reddit chat. I will never a notification for reddit chat. Reddit chat sucks.
Finally, I don't want to be negative but please miss me with the Hardcore or Hardcore punk. I'm just not into it and I'm not about it.
Ok, cheers
We started it about a year ago and just finished it this last week. Here’s the first single. Stream “Doors” by HollowEarth and Releafs https://hypeddit.com/releafshollowearth/doors
If you dig it we’re having an album release party at How Much Studios later this month!

Hey all.
Paper Sister is looking for a new bassist (preferably who can sing harmonies) who's excited about our music and wants to grow with us. We're based in Austin and play a mix of shoegaze and post-punk that has a distinct 90s bend. Our music sounds like and is inspired by YYYs, PJ Harvey, The Pixies, At the Drive-In, Savages, Smashing Pumpkins, Mazzy Star, The Sundays, Murder City Devils, etc. We have a few songs on Bandcamp and SoundCloud (soundcloud.com/papersister) and our first single on all the streaming platforms. We've been actively playing around town the past few months and have recorded new material we're releasing in the coming months. We want to keep growing, keep recording, and start playing outside of town a bit next year. Get in touch if interested, thanks.
