Bennvenn screen odd colours

About 3 months ago I installed the lcd replacement screen. It has been working great until yesterday my little one decided to have a go then when finished didn’t put it in the desk properly so fell to the floor.

I’ve pulled it apart and tried reseating the ribbons but no change. I’m hoping it’s just a damaged lcd as that will be easier to replace than any other components.

Atari Lynx D-Pad comparison model I vs. model II

For performing diagonal movement, I prefer the wider D-pad design of the model II to the thinner cross D-pad of the model I. Diagonals on the model I got easier with practice but the wider D-pad on the model II is just a much more ergonomic design

Two, Two, Two Lynx in one!

Atari Lynx model 1 all original and awesome. Atari Lynx II with BennVenn IPS LCD, Speaker-X upgrade and new screen lens. Mark Bussler from CGR showed me that 2 lynx will fit fine in the official kit case.

Am I screwed?

This is the on/off button pad. All the others seem fine. Already used some IPA and gentle scratching to get the worst off. Should I keep going or will I completely destroy the pad?

Just got my first Lynx 2 - But the screen is black when not using the light. Is this normal?

I'm hoping to put an IPS screen in it but i'm a bit scared because the screen is just black when I don't use the light. Even if I shine a light on it, still can't see anything.. only when the light is on I can see the game.

Is this normal? Seems weird to have a light button if you can only play when it's on.

Atari Lynx 1 Repaired. Added HDMI Mod

Atari Lynx 1 purchased with a description "For Parts".
After getting the Lynx I found the following issues.

  1. No Power
  2. Broken Plex Glass on top of Screen
  3. Broken clips on the Game Drive Door

Clean the shell from top to bottom. For how old this console is I was taken by how good the shell looks.
These model consoles are known for "paint peeling" or flaking off over time.

Replaced Power jack to resolve power issues, old one had a broken grounding pin.

I just keep the game drive door taped with Kapton tape. The clips which hold the drive closed are
all broken off. The person who owned this before me did not treat it with respect.

Pictures of my Lynx 1 & 2 together. Finally own both. What's even better is fixing & repairing one.
This was a fun console to repair, learned a lot through the process.

I upgraded the original screen with a IPS one which includes a HDMI out on the board.
The screen also includes a OSD menu which allows you to change a number of settings.
This gives a different perspective on gameplay.

Lynx 1 audio cutting out

So I just got my first ever lynx today and it's great! However, when i hold my hand over the cart cover with very slight force, the audio just stops playing. Any ideas how to fix it?

"A" button is auto-pressing

I recently bought a Lynx II and it works great, except for the "A" button. Upon first playing, the button works fine. After a while it will start to repeatedly auto fire making the system unplayable. If I turn it off to try another game, the problem will continue. If I turn it off for several hours, it will start up working fine until I play for a while.

Does this sound like a simple dirt issue or does this indicate that I'll need to pickup replacement parts to fix it? It almost seems like it could be the system's heat that is causing the problem.

Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: I took the system apart and cleaned a lot of stuff off of the button membrane using IPA. I put everything back together but heavily struggled getting the ribbon cables back in place. I started up the system under battery power and the screen turned on for a second and then the system went dead. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it looks like it's gonna be kinda pricey to try to fix it if it's even possible. I ended up recycling its a total loss in my opinion.

3d Barrage

I'm going through Atari 50 and there is a photo of an ad of games coming soon. One of the games listed is 3D Barrage. I can't find anything on the net about this game. Does anyone have any idea what it was?

Xenophobe on the Atari Lynx: A Retro Gem Worth Rediscovering

Hey retro gamers, I've been digging deep into my Atari Lynx library lately and stumbled upon a real gem: Xenophobe. This classic arcade shooter has been ported to the Lynx with surprisingly good results. While the graphics aren't exactly cutting-edge by today's standards, they still hold up well. The gameplay is fast-paced and addictive, just like the arcade original. The Lynx's screen is a perfect fit for the game's split-screen action. If you're a fan of retro shooters or the Atari Lynx, I highly recommend checking out Xenophobe. It's a great way to relive a piece of gaming history. Anyone else played Xenophobe on the Lynx? What are your thoughts?

Agacart issue

Hi, just found this sub and love how many people enjoy the Lynx still.

I bought an agacart years ago but don’t use it so often because it is super annoying to get to work. It takes multiple inserts to register on the Lynx. Is this a known issue or could it be an indication that I need to recap?

Thanks
