My Vivobook Oled flip that I bought just an year ago started to get cracks near the keyboard, that I couldn't do nothing about, because replacing the body of the laptop will require a lot of money. Two weeks or so after the year warranty had passed, the screen got cracked without a seeming reason. Now I stuck with a super expensive laptop that will stop working soon, with no way to repair it, as screen replacement will cost about as much as the computer worth. Buyers beware, this is a badly designed product, and I have seen this problem on other unites from that model as well
Hello, all. I recently got a M5A99FX PRO R2.0 on offerup and want to set it up for my home server. I've long been looking for a motherboard I could use with more than 4 drives and this one has seven. Unfortunately, my Ubuntu install won't recognize all the drives. Can anyone explain why that might be?
Hi to all of you, redditors! My subject router was soft upgraded to Merlin 3004.388.8_2. So I just couldn't use my config files from VPN provider. Those contain valid login info and necessary settings. But connection gets dropped reach time I try to initiate it. In web-interface I got "Error - check configuration settings" on every connection attempt. I have tried to use various config files to various servers. No result. To clarify the position - I'm located in Russia... Whenever I try the same OVPN or WG config on my GNU/Linux PC I have 'TLS handshake' stuck in a effortless attempt to establish connection to VPN server. Any clue would be greatly appreciated!
is there a way to change the timeout screen on my asus vivobook pro 15 oled laptop? I just wanted to change it without removing the timeout option completely.
Trying to update my 2080ti Strix A11 Gamings Bios, I can’t find any download anywhere. The support page only shows tools but no Bios update section, pls help thanks!
I am using the ASUS ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI motherboard in my Montech King 95 PRO case and it seems no matter what software i use (so far) the rgb fans in the case stay yellow. only my watercooler, ram, and motherboard change color upon request. How to I go about resolving this? So far i have used armory crate and OpenRGB.
I saw some youtubers and websites reviewing zenbook S 14 with U9 288v. But I can only find the U7 258v version in the store. Does anyone know if there are plans to release the U9 version, or would it impact battery life due to performance. The only reason I am getting this laptop is the insane battery life advertised.
I have to send this laptop to Asus warranty repair and I'm trying to remove the damn disc from the device so that they don't have that. And they use these f****** screws. This thing has less than a millimeter of depth to the screw head. Might even be less than half a millimeter of depth. I have no idea how to get this thing out of here. I have 3 days to find a solution. So far I've tried five different screwdrivers. I've tried glue. I've tried tape and I've tried a epoxy. Nothing really bonds to the screw. The screw is too shallow to really get a bite of anything on and it seems to be made of really hard material. There's literally no clearance between the SSD and the screw head. The screw head itself is rounded and flat.
So I've been waiting to get a windows laptop for a while and the Asus S16 seemed like a good choice, it was on sale from Best Buy (Core ultra 9, 16 gb ram, 1tb ssd, 3.2k 120HZ OLED and about $1,200 CAD after tax) and it was pretty nice to use, the screen is so nice and large and fast, but something felt sluggish and that's saying something since I come from a base model 13" M1 MBP.
I need to be more mindful when I use it on battery, especially on which programs I use on battery and not have too many tabs open on Edge. I really wanted to like this laptop because it can play some games on low settings and the screen is so nice and large, but just browing and having a few tabs open slow the experience SO much, it may be because the screen is so high resolution that it takes a while to load, which is fine, but the animations slow down to like 30hz, not even my 4 year old M1 does that!
I'm a little choked that I'll be returning this laptop because of the performance, I was really expecting windows laptops to provide a better experience than this. Apple really has it all figured out compared to windows, no hate, just stating facts, especially if you use an iPhone.
I feel like I may be crazy but it anyone has experienced something similar, please do let me know! I am looking forward to getting a good windows laptop that doesn't break the bank and has good battery life, good performance and screen. ( I am aware of the new Intel Core Ultra series 2 and AMD AI chips but they start at around $1,900 CAD + tax)
I’m about to purchase a 4090 Strix OC GPU but does anyone know if it will work with any Strix 4090 waterblock? The Overclock is throwing me off, I don’t see any blocks with that verbiage.
Any help would be appreciated.
After enough frustration with my router just dropping signal during the workday, I decided to get a firewalla gold pro to manage the wired connection in my house so I know I won't drop work calls during the day and use the Asus for a wireless AP. I've been screwing around with the Asus for the last 2 hours. When you change it to an Access Point, it allows you rename the wireless networks, which you can connect to once, then it says log back in to asusrouter.com for advanced settings, but I get this message. Is there something I don't understand about making an ASUS router a wireless AP? I don't see a reason it wouldn't allow me back into the web interface when I'm hooked up to its wifi.
What it says on the tin, on my Linux install this issue does not occur. It seems like the fans are capped at 50% of their actual speed limit on Windows and none of the presets in Armoury Crate resolve the issue. Manual mode gives me some warning about overclocking even though I requested no such thing.
Now that it's been out for a while, I am hoping people have enough experience to say YAY or NAY on its longevity. I need a Windows laptop to run Dragon for dictation. Whatever I get is going to be my daily driver, so I might as well get something good. I am looking at the Core 7 version. I am not using it for video editing, and a faster processor is not going to help me type faster (especially since my main reason for it is because I don't type well anymore.) Mostly, it will be for Google stuff (I work for a school), note taking, Zoom meetings, syncing stuff with a series of Android devices, and a lot of documentation (which is where the dictation comes in.)
I saw reviews about it getting a bit warm, but I am going to use it on a desk so as long as it's not so hot that it's hitting thermal shutdown, I am fine with it. I do not plan on playing games with it. I have a Switch and a Steam Deck for that. If I was going to play Call of Duty I'd get a RoG Strix or an Alienware.
If I am going to be looking at a pair of 60 hz screens for 6-8 hours per day, will I regret it? Or are screens good enough now that it won't bug me? With a desktop computer and a monitor, I can't look at anything less than 100hz for longer than a few minutes. Laptop screens are different, but I wonder if the lower-end model will be enough or if I need to spring for the 3K 120hz model.
How good is the stylus for screen writing? I use Nebo for note-taking and some drawing. Network layout, some diagrams, nothing artistic. (I draw great stick figures.)
I'm a bit confused about Copilot. I saw a review saying the chipset used in the Zen Core 7 does not support Copilot, but the Amazon ad for it says Copilot is included. I probably won't even use it, so it's not a deal breaker.
How good is the keyboard? Removeable is nice, but I already have typing problems. I don't want to be tripping over my thumbs because the keyboard is hard to use. Touchscreen may help a lot there. I find myself using my tablet for more things because I can tap stuff.
How is the overall quality? I am a bit concerned by some of the horror stories I have seen when dealing with customer service. That being said, I rarely even need customer service unless the thing breaks. Are there hardware issues that could plague me later? Screen defects or other gremlins?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Hi, I have an FX5172 that doesn't support RGB keyboard colors, but its keyboard went bad recently and I replaced it with a new one. My old keyboard glowed white and this new one glows blue. I was told my new keyboard supports other colors, but neither Aura Core nor Armory crate lets me change colors. Any ideas on how to "unlock" them?
I've been facing fan noise issue a lot since past 4-5 months , and Now It's not convenient for me to use at my work place , I had once upgraded laptop ram from 8gb to 16 gb , Secondly I was not satisfied with temperatures while gaming I mostly play Valorant and The CPU temperature goes about 92°C when I turbo mode and graphics set to the lowest So I contacted authorised dealer nearby and I thought changing my thermal paste would help me , but the there was no change in temperatures while gaming
I even tried cooling pad after my friend suggested me to use it while playing Games. Yet not Change
I have 4 Earphones ranging between $12 and $70 with High Quality Mics and ANC and My gaming friends always complain about Noise similar to fan
NOW THE FAN NOISE IS SO ANNOYING I CAN'T EVEN USE IT WHILE WORK , I USE THE MOST LIGHT APPLICATION AND IT MAKES A WEIRD NOISE
Here's the link to sound it makes.

Sorry if this is a silly question, I just bought ASUS VG27AQ , as I thought that model was up to 144hz. I am a PlayStation player, but everytime the monitor is showing 60 frames. How do I get it to be running at 120hz. My PlayStation when I tested 1440p says it can run at 120… but I’m confused how to get the monitor to show it as it keeps showing 60hz. Let me know if somebody knows the answer!! Thank you. :)
Hi everyone,
I have a TUF B460M-Plus Wi-Fi motherboard, and the "In-game effects" option keeps turning on by itself. Even after I deactivate it, every time I reboot, I have to turn it off again.
What do i do?
I recently bought the card at Best Buy and noticed it was disappointingly loud like some budget blower fan card, not what I was expecting since reviews have rated this as being almost as quiet as the top end cards. Turns out the hotspot immediately jumps to around 99c and stays there (80c gpu), HW monitor reported max of 101c.
Unfortunately I bought this at Best Buy and didnt know they had a ridiculous 15day return policy when every other place I've ever shopped at is 30 days or more, so I can't exchange it.
Right now I am undervolting it, which has helped noise levels dramatically but that doesnt fix the root issue (I also noticed this card cannot overclock anywhere near as much as the youtube videos I followed which may or may not be related). Even undervolting leaves hot spot around 90 with spikes up to 94, fan noise is still poor but not blasting like on stock.
Will ASUS warranty a card that is running way too hot? It seems like ASUS has horrible warranty support and it will almost certainly be denied and I'll have nothing to show for it besides not having a card for weeks and expensive shipping fees.
I am leaning towards just removing the heatsink and reapplying thermal paste (I also have liquid metal but probably won't use that until a last resort), hoping they just messed up applying it at the factory and nothing is wrong with the chip.
I purchased two Asus TUF VG249Q3A monitors from Amazon.com. I plugged both monitors into my computer which has a Radeon RX 7700XT, both via DisplayPort. One monitor (let's call this Monitor 1) was able to hit 180hz refresh rate right out of the box, zero issues - all I had to do was select 180hz in Windows.
The other monitor (let's call it Monitor 2) could not reach 180hz, despite switching cables, different ports on the video card, and using it on another computer. The highest refresh rate it could reach was 165hz. I noticed that the two monitors had different firmware versions. Monitor 1 was built in August 2024 and had a firmware version MCM102. Monitor 2 was built in July 2023 and had firmware version MCM103. The OSD of both monitors were different. Monitor 1 has an orange OSD with no Overclocking option anywhere (this comes into play later). Monitor 2 has a white OSD with slightly different layout, but it does have an Overclocking option.
All of the advertising and specs that I can find report that these monitors should be able to reach 180hz. There's no mention of overclocking. I messaged an Asus Consumer Chat Support representative about whether these monitors have a 180hz refresh rate natively, and the representative said yes. But then the representative followed up by saying that the monitor needs to be overclocked to hit 180hz.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if 180hz is native, you shouldn't need to overclock it to reach that rate? Meanwhile, Monitor 1 has no overclocking option anywhere and was able to hit 180hz out of the box.
I submitted a RMA request and shipped out Monitor 2. A day later, I received an e-mail from Asus with a video link included, stating that there was no trouble found with the monitor. However, the video shows that the technician enabled the Overclocking feature in the OSD and set the refresh rate to 180hz.
There is no advertising on Asus's website or on the box that this monitor has to be overclocked to reach 180hz. Asus wanted to ship the monitor back to me, stating that there are no issues with the monitor. I objected and requested that they contact me so I can discuss my concerns. Asus calls me three days later, and I lay out the facts as I see them. I send the same representative an e-mail with a video link to my OSD, showing 180hz with no overclocking option available.
Fast forward to today, four days later, and Asus is saying again that the monitor has no faults and they are shipping it back out.
Am I crazy? Is Monitor 1 overclocking itself "behind the scenes" in order to reach 180hz? Has anyone had a similar experience with these monitors? I did some Googling before I pulled the trigger on these monitors and saw some people have issues with refresh rate, but that seemed to be an issue with running it with HDMI rather than DisplayPort.
I like to game a lot like roblox, minecraft, fortnite the usual stuff so is Asus a good affordable laptop for me to buy or should i consider other options such as Acer or Lenovo. I researched a bit online but I want to know from people with experience.
Somebody might have stolen my charger which they wouldn’t even be able to use and left me here with no charger, i want another of the same charger i had but i don’t remember which charger the vivobook pro 15 came with i see 120w to 200w but I’m not sure exactly which one it is. Can someone who owns the same laptop tell me what charger it came with.
SOLVED -- the Display Link docking station was the software I was missing.
Hi all, I used to have my mac connected to my Asus VG27AQ Nvidia tuf gaming monitor via a DisplayPort cable (via docking station).
I had to wipe clean my computer recently and the monitor will not connect. I seem to remember needing an application to connect the two, but I cannot for the life of me find where I downloaded it on the web.
Any advice on getting the mac to recognise the monitor??
So I'm in a place where both of them cost the same and their apu is basically the same except from the fact that vivobook is 70w rtx4060 while zephyrus is 120w rtx 4060
So how is the display of the g16 2023 i know that ips displays can get really impressive so does the screen will make a huge difference one is zephyrus is 1080p ips while vivobook is 3k OLED
I've heard that zephyrus has better built quality but if the screen will be unimpressive I don't think i would want that so yeah but vivobook k6602 models known to have overheating problems so cooling is worser on the vivobook
I'm incredibly confused can someone recommend me either of them with reasons?
My fx 505dt fans stopped working a few days ago... Got a replacement, gpu fan started working, but the cpu one is still dead.. Even after 2-3 replacements. Any ideas how to get it to work? (Don't mind the cooling gel, the temps used to reach a lot high)
I recently bought this laptop on sale. And it came with 512 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM. But I'm curious how much I can increase it's storage space.
just started the laptop and it looks like this, does anyone know what those are?
