White flour products and knee pain?

Like 4 years ago I had a really bad flare up of all my joints south of my hips. Coincidentally my dad actually had something similar but all over. Our family doctor said it was a bad reaction to the flu, I was given something for the pain but he was out on a serious treatment to fight back.

Ever since if I eat products heavy in white flour it flairs up. For a while after I didn't realize what was causing it and would have joint pain after eating pizza.

I started dating my gf who is a Vegan and I've been vegetarian for like 7 years, anyways she prompted me to start eating less white flour products for more whole grain. Pain goes away, unless a cold is coming on.

I made flatbread last night and this morning my knees feel like they don't want to bend.

What's going on with me? I'm 27, Male, if I'm overweight it's by 10 pounds for my height. No ongoing medical conditions.

Thighs aching

My thighs feel almost like a stomach ache frequently. Nothing hurts otherwise and my skin looks fine on the outside.

It usually happens when I’m laying down in bed. I have no leg injuries at all, and I don’t have any conditions. M18. Ty

Stitches in lip. Questions about healing process/ infection?

So 6 days ago I was bit by my sister's dog and my lip was in two pieces. The person who stitch me up at the hospital didn't clean it before she started stitching, I did get a tetanus shot and amoxicillin. She neglected to tell me how to take care of it. She made it seem like don't mess with it wait for the stitches to dissolve. Well some of the stitches came off but there all basically under a scab, a couple stitches came out. There is a very minimal amount of white pus. Does that mean I have an infection? I've been taking the antibiotics.

Hips and balance changes during first-time pregnancy?

29F, first time being pregnant. I have noticed more space between my hips since reaching 13weeks. I have also noticed I bump into things more and my lower back has felt more pressure and I have need to stretch my back more often.

I am sure all of these things are normal but what I can do to increase comfort, balance, and core strength? I was told to absolutely not do "ab workouts".

What can I further expect from these bodily changes (besides the obvious growing bump)? Is there a resource somewhere online where I can see how my bone structure and body shape will change throughout pregnancy?

I sometimes forget to breathe?

As the title says, at times I forget to breathe. This happens a few times a day. I know that I don’t breathe in as much air as most people do and at this point I breathe in so little air that I can’t smell things anymore, or at least it has become very hard for me to. This has been going on for years now. I’m afraid this will happen when I’m asleep someday. I must say, I’m not a sporty person at all. Can someone help me find out why this is happening?

Feeling sounds in my eyes?

F19 i can feel loud sounds in my eyes today. A similar sensation to the stretch when you roll your eyes back but in synch with the sounds. Also feeling nauseous. Is this a strange form of synesthesia? Should I be worried?

Edit: It has progressed to hypersensitivity towards sound. Unlikely the beginning of a migraine as I haven't had a visual aura (which i got every time when I used to have them)

Sudden change in sexual urges

So Two days ago I was admitted to the ER due to severe lower abdominal pain (right side) and it turned out to be a large ruptured cyst. I was given pain, nausea, and anti inflammatory meds and got to go home. Tonight my pain got better but at the same time I started feeling extremely aroused...out of nowhere. No, I was not provoked by husband nor watching suggestive movie/show. The problem is it won’t go away. It feels like electricity running up and down my body. My husband enjoyed it but after achieving orgasm 8 times I’m tired and would like to sleep. Except every time I fall asleep I also orgasm in my dreams and then I wake up aroused all over again. As fun as it might have seemed at first I’m exhausted and wondering if it has anything to do with what happened two days ago? Any suggestion or help is welcome.

When I only use one earbud, it feels like the eardrum of the ear without the earbud is moving

So this is a weird issue that I can't find in a Google search. I like to listen to audiobooks when I fall asleep, and I've found that if I only put one earbud in it seems like I get a sympathetic response from my other ear. It feels like my inner ear is throbbing, and it's especially weird because it goes to the cadence of the reader. It doesn't hurt, but it feels uncomfortable and I end up putting the other earbud in just to make it stop. I always listen at a very low volume, but it still causes this weird response in my other ear. Not sure it's relevant, but I have tinnitus in both ears.

Elbow pain

I’ve been into fitness for a few years now , over the past two years I’ve been rowing competitively and last year I started training in Muay Thai. but this summer I started getting a lot of elbow pain I’ve seen a doctor for it but it hasn’t really gone away and now when I extend my arms I get a loud crunching sound, the crunch isn’t painful but if I tense up my arm I get a dull pain from my elbows, does anyone have any advice on what this could be and what I should do to stop this pain and the sound?

Is Weight Loss a Myth? Can someone explain Weight Loss to Me?

I just really want to understand how weight loss works- the way magazines, tv shows, books, etc. present it- it's an easy fix simply by cutting down your food and exercising. Other articles suggest that weight loss is a myth, or that while there's healthy weight loss (like going from obese to a safe weight), that there's no such thing as getting a perfectly slim body and keeping it that way unless you spend the rest of your life meticulously focused on staying thin. Can someone professional please explain this to me? I just want to know how this works- and it's hard to find accurate information when there's a diet industry trying to make sure you think certain things are real.

Sick since Early Feb - NOT Covid - Doc has no clue - Just Looking for Some Guidance

NOT looking for a diagnosis (I know doctors can't do that without seeing me). Just looking for where to look or what possibilities are out there.
I have been sick since early February, and my doctor doesn't seem to know what is wrong with me - and I'm just tired of being sick! I've been tested twice for Covid-19 and both times it has come back negative, so we're fairly positive that's not the problem. Here's what's going on:

In early Febuary, I got sick. I thought it was a mild flu - sweating, low-grade fever (under 100.4), cough, light-headed, dizzy sometimes, very tired a lot, headaches, and just not feeling well. My wife was also not feeling the best. I went to my doctor to get checked out and thinking that maybe I could get that nasal flu thing to recover faster, but the test indicated that neither of us had the flu.

My wife recovered on her own, but I did not. My doctor diagnosed me with bronchitis and put me on antibiotics and prednisone. It didn't help. So they put me on some different antibiotics - again, nothing. They put me on more antibiotics and prednisone, and sent me for a CAT-scan of my chest. The CAT-scan showed indications of bronchitis and some plaque in the vessels of my heart.

I have asthma, and had been using my rescue inhaler and my nebulizer pretty much daily. My doc has pretty much handed me off to my pulmonologist. I have been put on a daily asthma med - which has helped the cough to be less frequent and less powerful.

The problem that worries me the most however, is the fact that I am having wildly fluctuating temperature changes and a lot of sweating. When I started this post, my temp was 98.6F. When I got to the top of the last paragraph (and I am a decent typist), my temp went to 99.4 and I am sweating like crazy! The highest my temp has gotten is 100.0F. But then it might drop, a few minutes later to 99.1F. Then it will go to 99.5F. Then to 97.8F. Then to 99.1F - and so on.

This can't be healthy, can it? Plus, I am still getting light-headed to the point that, just the other day, I was afraid that I would fall down, so I mostly stayed in bed. Plus, I am sleeping even more than I usually do. I have sleep apnea, and despite my CPAP, I sleep 12+ hours a day. I am on Armodinaphil, which helps some. But now I am sleeping even more! When my temp goes up, I just get tired, start sweating like crazy and go to sleep - where I sleep for 2 - 4 hours at a time.

This is NOT a life!

I am NOT looking for a diagnosis - I know that no doctor can do that without seeing me. What I am looking for is what ideas I can point my doctor to, or ideas of what I can look into, or even letting me know if these sorts of rapid temperature changes are "safe" for the body to handle over nearly 3 months now.

I'm worried about my health and I just want a clue of where to start looking for ideas. Who do I go see? Where can I find conditions that would act like this? Anything at this point!

I am a 50 year old male, obese, diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, asthma, gout, and acid reflux.

Thank you for any guidance.

Eating crayons

My son constantly eats crayons and chalk. We have had bloodwork done and there was no indication of PICA. I am wondering if there's another way to test for it or if there's a way to curb that behavior.

Cold wax strips left me with dark scars on my underarms for a month now.

My right armpit has more elaborate marks than my left one. Here is a photo of my right armpit: https://imgur.com/a/ZESzsx4 . I am pretty much lost here on how to fade them. I fear they will remain permanent now. Any tips advice would be appreciated.

Pre-hypertension?

I (30F) recently went to my obgyn and got a blood pressure reading of 138/85. The nurse said that technically is pre-hypertension. I’m on the keto diet, have a bmi of 27 (down from 35) and never add salt to my food. However, I am a cigarette smoker. This is the first time I’ve ever had a high reading. I purchased a blood pressure cuff online to test for a week before making a dr appointment, but is this an ASAP thing?

Broken Ribs Medical Bill after CPR?

I've been looking on Ecosia/Google about CPR medical procedure and there's a high chance of a patient's ribs getting broken from it. My question is: Do they still have to pay for the medical bill afterwards? I'm pretty sure someone has to pay the doctor/surgeon behind helping them with their ribs someway or another, so is it the patient, the bystander doing the CPR, insurance, or the state?

What if the patient has no insurance? It would be unfair to them to pay for damage right after they live. I mean, I would rather die than place my family under that type of financial stress...

Have I suddenly got IBS? IBD? Chron’s disease? Something along those lines?

So I’m a 20 year old woman of African decent. I’m 150lb and 5’7. Digestive issues in the past - I’ve had mucous in my stools for a pretty long time, and I take iron tablets which sometimes give me black stools. History of constipation.

I’m often quite constipated and this is something that I get from my mum’s side of the family (we have a history of acid reflux and constipation) so constipation doesn’t alarm me and I know how to handle it.

However, recently, I’d say since the coronavirus lockdown started I’ve been getting bouts of Diarrhea which is bizarre for me because normally, I’ll get Diarrhea around 4 times in a whole year. It’s not common for me.

Around late February I had Diarrhea twice in 2 days, I thought it was odd but moved on. Then, one day in early march I randomly got a pain in my stomach and had to go to the toilet then I felt better. Again, this kind of urgent toilet going never happens normally for me.

Then, more recently I’ve been really going through it. I had online exams on the 5th of May and had Diarrhea about 2-3 times that day, I put it down to nerves even though I don’t normally get full blown Diarrhea due to nerves. When I’m nervous my stomach might hurt for a bit but that’s about it.

Then, I was fine for a week and I had online exams again on the 12th May. Two days before the exam I had Diarrhea and then on the day of the exam I had a really unsettled stomach. Every time I ate I got an ache and discomfort in my stomach. I wouldn’t call it pain though.

I felt fine again and now it’s Saturday 16th May. I’m currently on night 2 of my period and most of the cramps are gone but I still have a decent amount of blood flow so it’s still definitely heavy/moderate. I’m mentioning this because maybe it’s got some relevance as I’ve heard period hormones and chemicals can cause more bowel movements and Diarrhea in a lot of people? Normally on my period I do get the ‘period poop’ but it’s usually normal stools and not watery Diarrhea.

But basically I had a barbecue with my family at around 8pm today. We had lots of chicken and pies and only drank water. It wasn’t the first thing I ate though, I had 4 slices of toast for breakfast and a cup of tea. This is normal for me.

But as soon as I finished eating the barbecue food my stomach started to cramp badly and I had to go to the toilet. Sorry if it’s TMI but I had terrible Diarrhea, watery. Most of the Diarrhea I’ve had in recent weeks was watery. The stomach pain was awful and I’m just terrified at this point. This keeps happening and I feel like I can’t eat without having to take a crap.

I’m just wonder what is wrong with me. Early adulthood is around the time Chron’s disease starts isn’t it? Could it be IBD? IBS? Something else? Something sinister? I’m extremely confused and scared. I would see a doctor but coronavirus means I can’t see a gp, I’ll call the practice on Monday but I don’t know how much they can do over the phone.

Extremely Rapid Weight Gain

Hello everyone, I am a 24y/o male who is experiencing rapid weight gain. In the middle of March, I went to have bloodwork done after consulting a Doctor regarding me gaining 40lbs(210 to 250lbs) in roughly 5 months. A lot of that time I was on active duty(military) in decent physical condition and working out a minimum of 1 hour daily. I was fairly active. The result of my bloodwork concluded that I just had elevated glucose levels that if not lowered over time could lead to diabetes. My thyroid was also fine. I was given diet recommendations from the doctor and it was not so much different than my current diet and I have been following it. My current job is very physical where I am constantly moving and staying active. I have been adhering to the recommended diet. I do cardio workouts almost everyday such as running and hiking. Since March, I have gained an additional 20lbs. That weight gain has nearly all been in the stomach area with a small amount in my face/chin. My legs have stayed the exact same. As an example I wear the same size jeans at 210lbs as I do now at 267lbs. Additionally, I have noticed(and so have others I have shown) that the right side of my lower stomach is significantly larger than the left. Almost as if something is enlarged on that lower right area. With the current COVID19 precautions in place, my doctor is only doing phone appointments and I cannot come into the office to be visually seen. This weight gain is impacting me in many negative ways both physically and mentally. No matter what i seem to do or change or how much I exercise and change my diet I just keep packing on weight at a rapid pace.

Any help or advice I can receive would be greatly welcomed. I’ve never known anyone else who has experienced the same rate of weight gain along with the oddity of the lower right stomach being significantly larger. Thank you all in advance! I look forward to any response or advice I can get.

I have the urge for someone to push on my chest

So, ocassionally, I will have a sensation where I have the urge to have someone put pressure on my chest. Right in the center on my breast bone. It appears to happen randomly. At first I thought it might be anxiety, but sometimes it happens when I'm not feeling anxious. Sometimes I'll put the pressure on myself, other times I'll ask my husband. However it feels really good. I've tried Googling and cant find anything about wanting pressure on the chest, just already having it. I've also recently had an EKG for unrelated tests and everything was normal (although it would be hard to test this since it doesnt really happen on cue).

Could this feeling be the same as someone who needs and weighted blanket or something else?

Excruciating knee pain in the middle of the night. Whats wrong with me?

I sleep on my side, with a pillow between my legs, and recently I've been waking up with my left knee in terrible pain. It hurts so bad that I scream until the pain subsides. When this happens I have to extend my leg (making it hurt 10× worse) and then my leg shakes until the pain goes away (within 7 seconds).

I've noticed that pretty much every time the pillow leaves its position between my legs, I get the pain (and I'm asleep so I can't help it from moving).

This has been occurring for several weeks now, about 3-4 times a night, and I would really love any input about why this is happening or how to stop it.

I'm 16 by the way

Help! Have had open wound for a month!

tl/dr: Had a primary wound from roadrash, received sutures and instruction to coat with antibiotic ointment, turn into 2ndary wound like a chemical burn from neosporin. Now putting silvadine on it for weeks now with seemingly no progress, and told to debride at home with no obvious results. It's been a month. PLEASE ADVISE!

Hello good folks of Reddit

On 4/19 I was involved in an ATV accident resulting in 2 fairly deep wounds and a fair amount of road rash. It was apparent I needed sutures so I promptly went to the ER. I was given a tetanus booster, sutures, and a wound care plan of cleaning the wound 1-2 times per day and keeping it covered with antibiotic ointment while on 250MG Cephalexin for 10 days. The attending said neosporin would work, and without a med degree of my own I took the advice without second thought. I was to have the sutures removed after 10 days. Sounds good.

The pain was.. not fun, but manageable. That was until around day 7 I noticed a build up of exudate, and the healing process seemed to come to a standstill. I immediately made an appt with a local physician (I am staying with my parents due to the pandemic in a rural area) and the earliest I could get was the day my sutures were to be removed. Wam Bam 2 birds.

My new physician begins on a tirade about the other attending I saw, basically calling him a field medic quack with no wound aftercare knowledge. He told me I was doing the opposite of what I should, and that because it was roadrash I should be on silverdine (silver sulfadiazine). Okay, sounds confident, and once again I did not go to med school. This was on 4/29. I have been seeing him 1-2xs a week since and I dont see much progress. He started me on a amoxicillin the first time.

In these last few appts. (been seeing him a bit more frequent as I am starting to get nervous) he keeps telling me I need to debride the wound, which I did to the best of my ability. I scrubbed the absolute crap out of it, then applied more silverdine and covered as recommended. Well when I went back a day later it looked as if all the exudate was back and told me I didnt do what I was supposed to and that I now have what appears to be another infection (FINALLY did a wound culture) and put me on Sulfamethoxazole. I AM AT MY WITS END. I have no idea if this is the proper medical treatment plan, I'm in constant pain, and I am FRUSTRATED beyond belief. I told my doc that I got my job back in Alaska and need to leave in 2 weeks and he just laughed at me. We were on great terms but now I am losing faith.

PLEASE HELP!

should I go the ER

so my friend has been having some heart pain, she said it's not that severe as she can still perform normal tasks, but it is always there she has had it for about two months on and off now, it usually would stay for like a day every week, but now it has gotten more severe. its been going on for three days and keeps getting worse. she says it feels slightly better when her heart contracts/gets smaller (7) but other than that it hurts all of the time and its mainly in one spot in her right side but still hurts a little bit in the middle off and on as well, and it has also started to hurt on the left side, her mom said she's gonna call a doctor but my friend doesn't really want to go to the hospital because of the virus and she doesn't want to be all alone. She kinda just wants to know if going to the ER is something she should do

Heart Pain. When do I go to the ER

I've had slight heart pain concentrated in one spot for about two months. It's been off and on. It usually happens once a week for an hour and you notice it but it's not that bad. For the past three days, I've had heart pain in the same spot. The pressure relieves when my heart contracts, but it's always there. It's hard to do normal tasks but I can manage it, I just always feel it. My throat is dry even though I drink water and sometimes it feels like it's closing up. Pressing on the spot or holding my breath does nothing. My jaw keeps hurting too. Also, instead of being in just one spot, it hurts in the middle of my chest, more like a dull ache, sometimes a sharp pain. And the opposite side of the part that's hurting, which is on the left side, around the fourth rib down, is hurting now too. The pain keeps getting worse but i don't want to take pain meds in case i do go to the ER and they need blood work or something. And i don't want to go and it be nothing. My neck and the sides of my lungs/ribs have been hurting off and on too. What do I do?

What on earth is wrong with my foot?

For years now I've had yellow toe nails on my left foot. Not all the toenails are discoloured, just the big toe and the two on the little toe and it's neighbour. The skin flakes from time to time on that foot too. I've been to the doctor's on two separate occasion. Both times they've taken a sample and the last time they also carried out a liver function test. All the results came back all clear so it's not fungal or to do with my liver it seems. My other foot has always remained unaffected. Fungal treatment/antibiotics have not worked. Has anyone seen anything like this before? (If you do want to see it I will include a photograph).

Why when i try to sleep sometimes this weird thing happens

To start off Im 15 y/o and might have trouble explaining this but bare with me. Sometimes when i try to fall asleep this odd thing happens where i feel like im asleep but I remain conscious then my body starts to tense up, then I start to get light headed, and my ears start ringing then i start to hear strange noises(ex: people talking, or just incoherent sounds).

When this happens it scares me a lot of the time so I'll try to snap out of it and move my body but it wont budge. I've found out a little strategy to snapping out of it by just focusing on moving one of my fingers.

If you can think of why this is happening please let me know
