Apartment recommendations

My girl and I have decided we’re moving in together and are looking for apartments close to the Arlington area. We want something nice but we are still both in college and are trying to keep pricing down. Looking at one bed and one bath around the area. Ideally looking for something with at least one utility included if at all possible. Any information or recommendations are helpful! Thank you!!

RPGs and board games hosting

Hello,

I was hoping to start hosting a group for RPGs (D&D, Star Wars FFG, or Pathfinder) and board games such as Settlers of Catan, Century: Golem Edition, Call of Cthulu: Death May Die and many others in euro style, dungeon crawlers in the Arlington/Mansfield area.

I am thinking Sundays, possibly Saturdays or even a Wednesday to host the games. There are quite a few comic/game centers in Arlington, such as Darkhound game center, Geek-Out in Mansfield, or a private room in a library.

I am also wanting to try my hand at DMing, and I wanted to start off with a couple of beginner sets for a Star Wars Tabletop game that I have. It is simple to play and very fun, almost like playing through a movie but as an rpg.

I have joined a group and have gained some experience, and would like to host in an area a little closer to where I live. I feel like it would be a whole lot of fun and will help build community too.

I would like to post here, to see if anyone is interested. Please leave a message here or feel free to DM me.

EDIT: Will make a another post with date/time

Good comic book store in Arlington??

I’m visiting family in Dallas for Thanksgiving weekend. We are going to dinner in Arlington on Friday (an Indian restaurant they were recommended), and I would like to stop at a comic book shop.

I’m mostly a key issue guy. I’m not really buying new issues. Looking for bronze and silver age keys. Any recommended shops??

Bonus points is it’s near a sports card shop (my brother collects those).

When I'm Sixty Four.

Today is my 64 birthday. It my first birthday in the last 5, that I am not sick or in the hospital. I still have my fight with Parkinson's. But things are looking up.

Being Thanksgiving time, I thankful for the support of my family and friends. During this tough time.

I hoping for a great future. We close sale on the house we have been living for the last 30 year and look forward to our new home in Joshua, TX.

Love you all and thanks.

Dave Greig N3BUO.

A Walmart that actually sells decaf coke?

I see the walmart app has decaf coke for delivery, but... is there a actual walmart that actually sells it in store? I went to the super walmart at randol mill rd, all they had was the normal and "non-sugar" variants.

I enjoy coke, but caffine leaves me WIRED and unable to sleep if I drink the beverage to late in the day.

Don't take your car to this shop

Just for clarity this happened in the DFW in the Arlington/Kennedale area

Brought my car here three weeks ago, the first week went by and I heard “they were running test” like this was a chemistry project, I figured that he forgot he isn't in school anymore, but anyways I thought was odd because my repair was a 2-3 day job. I called back the second week to get an update to get little to no response . I figured the owner forgot to take his medication that morning and after having to get up at 5 am every morning to catch the bus to get to work. After the third week of still getting no response while he had my car I decided to get an Uber to the shop and when I got there, I could tell there's was not one thing done to my car and it looked like he drove it through the dessert so I decided to do a magic trick and have a tow truck come and take the car from him because apparently he thought he could wait until his kids decide to put him in the old age home . My best advice, take your car to another shop, btw, I'm writing this from the passenger seat of an uber while the driver goes on and on about his marital problems

Just so everyone knows the address in case you look up shops and google and want to avoid this one I put the address below, whatever you do, do not go here

111 Industrial Dr, Kennedale, TX 76060

Euchre in Texas

Just moving here from Ohio and can't find any euchre groups. I can play online but I'd rather meet people. Any former Midwesterners interested in playing in person?

Job seekers

Do you actually put effort into a cover letter? Am I the only one that thinks a cover letter is a total waste of time?

I think for a specific niche position a cover letter would filter out any “non-desperate” job seekers, specifically a start-up company or very niche field like alternative medicine.

A very well qualified candidate could easily pass over the application because the cover letter requirement. A non-qualified candidate that can use chat gpt can make a cover letter that “wows” the committee.

How do you feel when a company asks for a cover letter? Waste of time or valuable asset to application?

Seeking Engineer/Programmer to Join as Cofounder for a Fitness-Tech Startup

I’m building a fitness-tech startup and looking for an engineer/programmer to join as a co-founder. If you’re interested, comment below or send me a DM, and I’ll get in touch.

What I’m looking for in a cofounder:

• Willing to dedicate themselves fully to the startup (and potentially relocate if necessary).

• Programming skills in areas relevant to modern startups. If you can't program, what else could you do then?

• Deep understanding of startup culture and a willingness to take risks.

• Someone who genuinely cares about fitness and innovation. Believes in fit-tech future.

• Believes the fitness industry is on the verge of a transformation similar to what Airbnb and Uber did in their respective industries.

If you resonate with this hit me up.

Are there any Turkey Trots in town this year?

I am visiting family for Thanksgiving and would like to run a Turkey Trot 5k or 10k. I see there used to be one at Globe Life stadium a few years back, but it looks like the last one was in 2021. I can't seem to find any in Arlington Thursday morning. Are there any being hosted in town that y'all are aware of?
