I’ve done some research and see these two cited a lot for the under $500 range, but see BCA criticized for quality a good deal - feedback appreciated
I need help finding cheap ammo for my new ar-15 build, and help selecting a BCG for my upper from diamondback firearms 16-in upper 223 or 556 I'm running a Anderson's lower receiver with a carbine length buffer tube. Any ideas??
Anyone have experience installing one of these? I torqued the barrel nut and backed off once and torqued again. Now the teeth on the wrench are so deformed I can’t tell if I got the nut torqued to spec or if they just slipped out of the slots. Frustrating for a $400 rail, should have looked into it before I got started as this seems to be a common problem. The last quad rail i got from Midwest came with a very beefy wrench. I’ve read that you can just use a castle nut wrench on the DD barrel nut. Any input would be much appreciated.
So I had replaced my bolt carrier group with a BCM and immediately had extraction/feed issues. I put the rubber o-ring on the extractor and it helped. I upgraded my buffer to a spikes tactical T3 and a JP enterprise custom spring. Now rounds are failing to feed and ejecting weakly, occasionally failing to eject. I’ve ordered the BCM spring upgrade, hoping that will fix the issue. I have an 11.5 barrel. Too heavy of a buffer? Too much spring? Adjustable gas block necessary? I’m LE and need a rifle I can rely on, appreciate any help.
Hello, I’m thinking about trying to find a Black Friday deal on a complete upper, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any places that offer financing or installment plans?
After each build (or upgrade in the case of my first), I thought to myself that I was done. Took a basic DPMS and changed it into an actual rifle that I would depend on in a crisis. That was a fun project, but it gave me the itch to do more. I have found ways to rationalize that I'm not building a "spare"- it's new and DIFFERENT
The DPMS is a 16" with a carbine length gas system. Then I built an SPR from the ground up with a Faxon 16" 416R fluted match barrel in 223 Wylde, so see- it is chambered in 223 Wylde not 556, and it's got a mid-length gas system.
Then I found an Aero Precision 10.5 " CMV and thought, why not? It lightweight and really sweet, but seems like pistol ARs might soon be verboten.
Just the other day, I saw (and ordered) a FN 18" barrel with a rifle length gas system. Number four now beyond the planning stage. Damn, this is fun.
I assume y'all love it as well, being on this forum.
What do you think?
I'd like to get myself an ar kit coming up soon, what's the best bet? .223 or 5.56? I haven't built an ar before but I have a fair bit of experience with disassembling and assembling guns, and machines in general. From what I see, it seems to be best to get a stripped lower and an upper with all the remaining parts.
Any ideas on easing the pressure required to switch the selector switch on my Ruger lower? Aero Precision Lower Kit btw. Thanks.
I recently finished my first two AR builds, but, when I went to test fire them at the range, they both shot at least 20” low. Granted that was only at 25 yards just to get on paper before ranging them further, but that is much too low regardless. My front sight post is cranked all the way down on both, too. I’ll be running an optic on one of them, so it has MBUIS. The other has Daniel Defense fixed sights. Both sets are end mounted (as far back/forward on the pic rail as possible). I swapped the sights between the two to see if that might have something to do with it, but I got the same results. Both barrels are straight (not bent 😬).
Did I torque the barrel nuts wrong somehow? How would I diagnose and fix this issue. I guess the “easy” fix would be to file down the front sight, but I really don’t want to go that route. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Talk me off the ledge here. 😬
Just want to know if they are a good company to order from for uppers? Ordered a 10.5” complete upper only place not to say “out of stock” or “on back order” for a decent price range.
In anyone’s opinion what is the best scope I can buy for around 3-400 dollars? I bought a knockoff of the trijicon acog and it just simply cant hold zero! Any help works thank you!
Are there people that have the tools and shop you can rent to mill out a lower or is that not legal? If there are people like that, how do you search for them? I'm in fort worth Texas
I bought the S&W M&P 15-22 rifle back in March as a way to get familiar with the AR platform and as a range toy. I’m considering converting it to a 8.5” .300 blackout with the complete upper from Radical Firearms. Any advice on if this is possible or recommended? Thanks in advance.
I have a 18 inch AR that I recently decided to sell and I mentioned this to my family in case they knew anyone. My Dad reminded me that he would like to have one so I decided to gift mine to him for Christmas this year.
When I originally built the thing, I intended it to be a "long range" AR, hence the 18 inch barrel, bipod, and a decent scope. I don't think that's the best setup for my parents ( 50's and not familiar with AR platform) for what they want it for (self defense/shtf rifle) so I'm going to change some things that I can afford to change before Christmas rolls around.
I guess the question is what makes the AR platform as user friendly as possible, especially for slightly older users such as my parents. Ideally I would change the barrel but as my finances stand I don't know if I can afford that. I'll probably do some flip up irons instead of the optic, because my dad's not a fan of optics generally, a lighter stock and an angled or vertical foregrip and call it good there.
I'd love to hear any suggestions or from anyone who's got experience with anything similar. Thanks all!
