My new project

Just finished gluing together my new 30 liters (8 gallon) scape. I will hide the contact points and the filter floss retaining layer with small chunks of dragonstone, but I will have to hammer one down and it's too late to do it today (my neighbour would kill me if I started hammering rocks). I'm still missing the lights, but it's not a problem as I will cycle it with dark start method. I'm super content with how it turned out. I was not sure about the scatter stones, but I think once the crypto parva will be planted at the edge of the wall, it will look good. The stocking will be a group of crystal red shrimps and maybe a small school of chilli rasboras.

Any Brands Need help? Was working with H2O Plants.

Hello everyone,

I was working with H2O Plants to help with their marketing. They got bought out my Flip Aquatics and I got left on the side. Looking to pickup where I left off with another brand. So much work was done that is just going to waste. Their loss your gain.

Really enjoyed working in this niche, even got into Aquascaping with my kids.

I'm a little embarrassed to post, but could I get some advice on how to improve my tank?

This is my 45 gallon community tank. I set it up in June and, despite reading and lurking, I feel I have no idea how to improve it. I'd really love it to be tailored to my upside-down catfish, but all suggestions welcome.

The grass is just taking over and I'm letting it, because I want it to be heavily planted, but it doesn't look great. There are a few anubias attached to drift wood and that's the extent of plants, but I would love more, or at least a variety. I don't have the funds or confidence to dabble in CO² at this time.

Because the tank is a tall, there is a lot of space in the upper half that idk how to fill.

I'd love any beginner-friendly:

  • suggestions for short, ground covering plants (if possible w/o CO²) or plants in the upper portion (I tried hornwort; loved the look but not the mess and it gradually died off)

  • ideas for better hiding spots for my upside-down catfish. Plants, decor, etc? Is there an easy way to attach the log at the mid-level of the tank?

  • how to manage the explosion of grass (I started with 2 small plants a few months ago & have had to just start culling). It makes vacuuming the substrate difficult & often breaks off. How much is too much and how do people arrange it so it doesn't inhibit cleaning?

Enough plants?

Im thinking about making an aquascape like this for a betta fish. Do you guys think the moss will be enough plants? I feel like its not enough to get rid of all the NO3.

Moss based scape... Will work?

Hi all, newbie here, 1st scape.

Going with all the comments on newbie unfriendly it is to maintain a carpet, I'm trying for a moss carpet (dry starting for 2 months).

There fissidens in the foreground, and Christmas on the gundam and some parts of the background + back of the wood.

Will be planting some red in the background.

Any tips on how to make this work better? Feeling very intimidated by failure and worry about the next steps of flooding etc

I want to learn basic aquarium design but I don’t enjoy long inspirational videos. Ideas?

I’m wanting to learn aquascaping. The design aspects of all this.

I know there’s a million resources out there. But. I confess I’m not a huge fan of watching long YouTube videos.

For context I have an established aquarium and I’d like to give it a rescape. Taking the plants, rocks, and wood I have and creating a new layout.

I’m looking for resources - YouTube or otherwise - with direct instruction for beginners and with general principles from which I can expand. This is in contrast to inspirational videos, like specific tank builds. (Those might come later.)

I might try an aquascaping book (titled Aquascaping) that seems to be well-regarded.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

20 gallon long scale with scraps

As the title states I got this 20 gallon long for free. I had some left over seyiru stone, substrate, dragon stone, spiderwood, and mopani wood for the hardscape. Castle decoration by request of my girlfriend. Managed to find a super cheap OASE biomasted 250 filter and just need a decent light.

Any suggestions on moving any of the scape around also need a decent suggestion for lights. Planning to put my sisters tiny goldfish she won at a fair just recently. I know he'll need an upgrade eventually but I'll probably put goldfish proof plants eventually.

Anyway any suggestions?

Carpet- low maintenance

Doing the live plants aquarium first time. Upgrading from 60g to 125g

What carpet plant would you suggest with low maintenance. I am not a regular maintenance person so something easy, low light and less trimming.

60L lowtech riverbank scape

Hardscape done, I need some ideas on planting the tank. I'm thinking some Vallis and stem plants in the background and a lot of Anubias and Buces and java ferns in the foreground around the "roots"?

I'm planning to put hillstream loaches, some plecos and maybe a school of tetras/rasboras in, should I make it a blackwater tank?

Also, I forgot about the aquarium background... I think I'll go for black for this tank.

What do u guys think?

P.S.: Sorry for the crappy photo, I'll take some better shots after I install a light.

Hard scape improvements

Not new to planted tanks but very much a beginner when it comes to aquascaping. I have been getting a lot of inspiration from nature aqua scapes and I would like to design my own. Currently planning on use of a lot of lower maintenance plants. I have no idea what I am doing with hard scape. What is the best way to hold dragon stone in place? Would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

New hardscape work in progress. Don't mind the middle front area, I will yet clean it up. It will be heavily planted tank, not Iwagumi. What do you guys think?

How can I make his tank better?

Not that there’s really that much wrong with it but it’s not very visually appealing.
