Family Heritage

I'm from the U.S., and I was recently able to trace my family line back to Antrim, Ireland. My great great great great great great grandfather was born in Antrim Ireland in 1747. So, I just wanted to say hello! I've been to Ireland in the past, but never to Northern Ireland. But I hope to change that.

Sustainable, Animal-Friendly Unisex Footwear [Designed in Ireland]

We're extremely happy to announce the launch of Sampla Footwear.

Our unisex footwear has been designed in Ireland and ethically crafted in Europe using premium animal-friendly materials, such as 'appleskin' (re-purposed apple waste from the juice industry in Italy), organically grown cotton, super crepe and recycled PU (from the European automotive industry), just to name a few. Furthering the cause with an indigenous tree planted in Ireland for each pair crafted.

Sampla is the Irish for example. We’re looking to set an example by producing unisex footwear that is ethically made from premium animal-friendly materials as well as giving back to our environment with each pair produced.

Our Kickstarter campaign is already live and we feel incredibly grateful for all the help and support we've received so far.

You can check out our Kickstarter page out in the link:

Moving to Antrim

Hi all,

Thinking of moving to Antrim, looking at a house near Steeple Road/AAH area, any major red flags about that area or anything I need to be wary of moving there? Work in Belfast so aware of the traffic on the M2 during rush-hour etc. Sorry if this breaks any rules, feel free to delete if so!

Thanks in advance for any tips, or warnings!

South Korea was doing a fantastic job of controlling #COVIDー19 for the first 30 patients. Then #Patient31 came along, did not adhere to social distancing and caused 2 clusters that were responsible for 80% of South Korea's infections. Don't be #Patient31.

A friendly request for help from Canada

In the late 1940s, after WWII, my grandfather immigrated to Ottawa, Canada. He was from Randalstown, in Northern Ireland.

Very soon after arriving he and two so far unidentified friends - presumably shipmates during the war - recorded themselves talking in a Voice-O-Graph booth. The resulting 45rpm record has been in our family ever since.

Due to the very thick accents and poor quality recording, the conversation was almost entirely unintelligible. A few days ago I got the record digitized, and was able to clean up the audio quite a bit.

A lot of it is still incomprehensible to me, however. In the captions, I have marked the sections I could not transcribe as 'unintelligible'. William-Stanley is the voice of my grandfather.

My request is this; I would very much appreciate help in finding out what is being said in the sections of the recording I could not understand.

Here is the recording, turn on captions to see what I have transcribed so far.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can provide, my family would be grateful for any insight.

Best place for a kebab in Antrim???

I love kebabs! but where is the best? I'm currently fond of Kebab King myself, probably because I'm too lazy to go past the top of the town to get to the others...
