There were a few parabolic antennas under it but I don't think they were related.
The platform looks like a short version of those at&t long lines microwave towers but the antenna on top is very different. It looked like a doughnut shape in person and on Google maps it looks like a half sphere for sky observation. So we have a tower built to hold antennas with 1/4 deg precision in 170mph winds holding an omni antenna?
Tallest structure in the UK. A VLF transmission site for the navy. Main mast is 1,198 feet.
Took a pic of this tower yesterday, heres a better shot
Most of the regular dishes are out front and you can see them from the road, but this one is hidden in between buildings.
My apologies for the cruddy photo, the attic is dark and my camera is not good. This antenna is in my attic and I don’t know what it’s for. Has a flat brown wire coming off it. The antenna is about 8ft long and 6ft wide. The wire used to be strung through the house before we renovated. House was built in the 30s in Canada. Is this simply for tv or radio? Would love to know what its intended purpose was.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Found this beast in my attic. Any tips for the connection adapter to hook this up? It has the 2 wire cord attached to wing nuts
A VNA sweep of my 10 meter dipole shows a 1.8swr throughout the 2m band. 144 thru 148. Does that indicate that I could potentially use that for VHF in a pinch? Thanks for any input!
Took a picture of this man two summers ago at the Grand Canyon. He was tracking the movements of a family of California condors that had been transplanted there. He said one male had flown away, he thought up to Oregon.
