Ask an Android Question -This is Android Questions. Please make sure you're asking a question (in English) about the Android OS or Android devices. This is not about other Androids, such as those from Dragonball. This is not for feature phones, Blackberry phones, iPhones, etc (unless somehow also about Android phones).
Be descriptive -Sometimes, it can be relevant to tell us what device you have, whether you're in the US/what your location is, what carrier you're on, what apps are involved, what you've tried, etc. If there's information that might be important to the troubleshooting or problem-solving process, please include it.
Be patient (No spamming) -You're getting free help from Internet strangers. Your answer might take a while, or you might not even get a response at all. Don't double-post, don't spam, and don't keep posting the same thing repeatedly.
Be nice -Treat others with respect, even if you don't agree with their advice. Accordingly, you should expect others to be nice to you as well. Report anyone who gives an intentionally rude answer.

Hello people, I came here because recently a folder called "Sdcardbackup" appeared in a Samsung we have on the house and it's full of someone else's personal stuff. I asked everyone in the house for their recent activity but I couldn't link anyone's actions to this, I also checked every single Google account on it to see in which devices they are logged in and everything is ok, the phone has no other accounts (one drive or Samsung account). Does anyone have any idea how this could have happened? Edit: the phone is almost brand new and is only used to record videos and play games, it doesn't see much activity overall and it almost never leaves the house, also it never had an Sd card put on it
How do I log by in to my android developers option ... When I go to developers options it says tracing ..with no where to enter data .... Thanks
It's driving me nuts, no I don't want my history saved to the cloud, no I don't want to be asked every time I open the app. Why is there no obvious way to disable this in settings?
I'm wanting to control my Android device from my PC when they are at different locations.
Or control my Android device from another Android device when both are at different locations.
I specifically want to control an app from my Android device remotely.
I have checked out airdroid which didn't work, it wouldn't connect remotely when tested and all set up correctly. It did work when devices were together and unlocked but when i left the facility tried to conect it failed consistently.
I have also tried Zoho assist, simple enough to set up but ran into some technical problems and there lack off support rendered it redundant for me.
I won't pay silly money for this but realise free isn't always a good thing.
I am coming from ios so I'm not means an Android tech head FYI.
There must be products out there (I will keep searching) but it must allow me to unlock the device also remotely, as all Android seem to lock themselves after 4 hours, whether smart Lock is on or routines etc.
Any recommendations or suggestions welcomed .
I noticed last week that I have a strange problem with my Bluetooth headphones. When I make calls via WhatsApp or Signal or another app, the apps don't use the Bluetooth microphone but the smartphone's microphone instead. I noticed this during the WhatsApp call when I was walking around the apartment during the call. As soon as I move away from my phone, the other party can no longer hear me. I was able to test the phenomenon with 3 different Bluetooth headphones. I then removed the Bluetooth devices and paired them again without success. Then I deleted the data from the Bluetooth (via root) also without success. The only app with which the Bluetooth microphone works is the native phone app. By the way, WhatsApp and Signal naturally had all permissions. A few weeks ago, everything still worked smoothly. I did a system update a few weeks ago, but I don't know if it's related to that. Maybe you can test this with your smartphones. I would like to know if we are the only ones in the family who have this problem. The whole family has the problem and all 3 of us in the family have the same model (11 Lite 5g NE) and the same operating system (PixelOS 14 Lisa).
Hi, currently i have installed on my phone the version 6.16.3624 of Play Music. I want to go back because this version always opens with the "server error" message (ever since the app has been discontinued), and i'm tired of that. I want to install the 6.0.2005S version, because it doesn't have this message (and the sidebar is much cuter), but it doesn't let me. Here's the issue: the 6.16 is the default version on my phone and trying to deactivate the app or uninstall the updates doesn't result in anything. Is there a workaround for this?
I'm trying to boot up a galaxy S2 i9100 (i9100gsmh) but it's stuck on the big s with the galaxy SII under it. Any help?
Hi; I am on s22 ultra using android 14 one ui 6. 1. I should be doing something wrong because, I should be able to open any apps and see the traffic flowing in mitmproxy but that's not the case. I set the pc and set my pc's ipv4 as my proxy on the phone. Then visit https://mitm.it website to actually be able to download the certificate because on http it doesn't download. Then I install the ca certificate in the settings. After doing all these, I can not open apps because there is no Internet access. What should I do?
I've tried adjusting the display settings, tried installing Caffeine app, but no matter what I do, it still blacks out and makes me "drag to unlock" I'm so sick of it, why is it so damn difficult to just keep the effing screen on
I've bought a chinese device for my car / motorcycle, which runs Android 13. I've been able to change the launcher (i'll use none of the pre-defined apps for music and navigation, and i don't have an iPhone, so the non customizable home screen had no use for me).
The device is meant to be "installed" on the vehicle, not to be portable: it has a power cable coming out from the back that you have to put in the vehicle and connect with screws and also a USB C port.
Here's the problem: it works fine when powered by the USB C port, at startup a pop-up appears telling that it will shutdown in 5 secs unless you press "Cancel" (but there's no buttons on the device apart one that only whitch it off) and turn it off (and it the boots again, and the cycle repeats).
I've been somewhat able to "bypass" that popup using a "scientific method" which is by frantically tap everywhere on the screen until something happens (like an app starts) and then the pop-up goes and i can keep the device on as long as i want. I've not been able to find any procedure that grants me to get to this point: i just have to try and try until i succed.
So, i'd need a way to know what happens at startup, disable the app (if any) which open the pop-up, or maybe launch some process before it that makes it happy, or ... i dunno.
I've tried the UAC program, and there's just 4 or 5 propretary apps in the phone (other than the launcher): they're not even hidden so i can launch them from the apps tray but they are in chinese and apparently they do some RAM test or ... nothing visible.
Thanks

Hi, my front camera is dead and many apps require the front camera to verify my identity. Do you know if there is a way to use the rear camera or a webcam instead of the front one?
I have mounted a 500GB HDD as internal storage on my Google Pixel (1st Gen). How do I transfer my photos to this HDD expansion instead of the Pixel's internal ROM?
I am a little confused between these two devices, and could do with some help.
How is the camera on F55? Are you happy with it? Also how durable is it? I tend to drop my phone quite often.
I've got S102DL - Galaxy A10e, not on AT&T accepted device list. I wanna make it work on AT&T; can I put the firmware from the AT&T version on this device and then use it on AT&T?
The AT&T accepted models are: SM-A102U, SM-A102UC, SM-A102U1
My research thus far indicates you can't unlock the bootloader, so I guess that means no? Just wanted to see if there's any newer info than what I've found thus far. I just had the phone unlocked and it only works with t-mobile thus far but I have AT&T
So I just got a pixel 9 pro and I want to properly set it up to be custom for me. I used LG phones for years until they ended production and then I switched to iPhone, but I'm back now. My biggest thing is a really niche ask but on the LG phone I had (V40 thinQ) whenever I adjusted volume I also had the option to control the volume of the individual apps I was using if I was in picture in picture mode, for example watching YouTube and playing a game I could choose to adjust the volume for each individually making it so I didn't have to go into the game setting to mute it when I was watching something else. Is there anyway I can bring that feature back on my pixel? Also any broad recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
So recently I wanted to try iPhone because I had an extra laying around so I transferred my data and started using it for about 2 months. I've found apple really isn't my style so I want to switch back. However, I never factory reset my Samsung because there were a few things it didn't transfer over, saved passwords, notes, some pictures etc. And I also don't want to have to go through the process of setting it up again as well as all the things I've customized to my liking. The only thing I really want from my iPhone is the messages. Is there some way I can transfer the messages from my iPhone to my Samsung WITHOUT doing a factory reset on my Samsung so I don't lose the data that's already there? Thanks for the help in advance.
im trying to enable developer settings n' i spam the build number and it brings me to "factory test" i tried doing the tests to see if it changed anything but it doesn't work, it previously worked for me but then i accidentally reset my phone er
On my phone I have multiple Google accounts. They all show up in my Google authenticator app. I want to delete/unsync the codes from all accounts except one.
Is there a way to delete saved/sync Google auth codes from a specific google account?
So basically, I was checking my device manager and I saw 2 options which were "turn off accessibility features" and "deactivate device admin apps". The description for both of them says "malware may exploit accessibility features to infect your device" but does this mean it can give me device malware when it's turned on, or when it's turned off?
I am not able to select 'More options' in Full screen gestures Navigation type. Can someone tell me how or why this is happening?
Hello, I've been using my android (Galaxy S21 5G) as a wifi tether for a while now and up until yesterday it just won't let me do it anymore. I had been using my hotspot with data turned off to share my wifi, but now when I try to do it, it says that I need to turn on "wifi sharing" but there's no option to do that in my phone. Any suggestions?
I don't like icon of an app or it isn't appealing. So how do I change it?
I just want to plug an old SD card into an adapter that connects to the USB-C on my phone that will easily open the files on my android phone. Samsung galaxy s21 ultra 5g. Thanks in advance!
My phone has been having trouble with charging lately. It shows a blue screen, and sometimes i can't get the charging chord in the phone. Will a charging pad work for charging it, so i don't have to plug my phone in?
That's how it shows up in the notif bar. Just a simple s inside a square.
I need help. I recorded a conversation with my manager, and the call was highly problematic. I would like to send it to HR, but I can't play back any calls I've recorded. I've contacted the app's developer but haven’t received a response. It's an app I've successfully used before, and I didn’t expect any issues since all the permissions were correctly set up.
I can't export the audio from the app, and I’ve tried exporting it to WhatsApp, Gmail, Google Drive, text, Slack, and Bluetooth with no success. The only thing that works is pulling the files from the phone directly via USB connection to my PC, but there's no sound to the audio. It's very distressing.
Please, I need help!
Is there any way to get, convert, or export these files?
This is the app in question:

I just got a free upgrade from my provider and opted for the S24. I've had for about a week and as of today noticed it seems to be having problems. Making/receiving calls, as well as some potential incoming text issues as I'm not getting confirmation texts for my school account (which is problematic). When I attempt a call I get a prompt that says, "Your phone's not registered on a network, so you can only make emergency calls." I am connected to wifi and as far as I'm aware, should be on a network. When someone calls they get sent straight to voicemail. When texting I did receive texts and could send them, but I am not receiving automated messages for one-time passwords to login. Any help would be much appreciated. Is this a known problem, should I be contacting my provider? As far as I'm aware I completed phone setup and I have no notification telling me that it is incomplete.
My aunt gave me a tablet for my daughter, she doesn’t know the passcode because it was her son’s and he passed away recently. Is there anyway to factory reset it without the passcode?
