Too long have I been stuck amongst the pink skins, longing for the ice and a decent plate of tuber root!

Thiptho Lapth!

Hello! I tried to comment on the intro thread, but I think it's archived? I'm still trying to figure out reddit.

Anyway, if anyone's still here--I'm Ell, and I've been cosplaying my character Thellizhír "Ell" ch'Lethlaen with my partner Thevynnian "Vynni" sh'Chavar since we first attended Farpoint con in 2005. I first became interested in Andorians after reading the DS9 relaunch in the early 2000's while I was in college.

Vyn and I started a mostly-Andorian Klingon Assault Group/Imperial Xeno Legion chapter a couple of years ago called XLV Korelath, out of Boston. We also have a tumblog called The Farthest Star, which is mostly reblogs these days, but has some original content I've moved over from our old WP blog. I also started a group for Andorians on Facebook, which is pretty active! I'm also the Static Content Manager/blogger herder at Priority One Podcast.

Last year, our friend adorpheus, aka Lissan sh'Zahar, was featured on an episode of True Life for her entry in the Miss Star Trek Universe Pageant at Dragon Con as her character. We show up in it too!

Anyway, hi! I like Andorians.

No Andorians in Star Trek Into Darkness...

The people of Andoria feel they're not getting enough attention in the new universe.

What do the pink-skins think?

After observing Easter traditions on Earth, Andorians think about the shape of their home world

To honor the tradition of Easter, the people of Andoria think about reshaping their planet like an Easter egg during the months of March and April. Although it means a great effort for construction workers, experts say that an egg-like shape can be achieved. Officials hope that this will further improve interplanetary relationship between Andoria and Earth.

What do you think?

The explanation of our blue skin...

is the cool atmosphere of Andoria caused shades of blue to evolve so more blue light in our Class M atmosphere is absorbed by our hides, warming the boiling blue blood of the mighty Andorians!

The people of Andoria have a question concerning Earth Hour.

Andorians have watched Earth Hour. Some shook their head in misunderstanding while others think it's a great idea and would like to establish a similar practice on their homeworld.

What do you think? Should Andoria have an equivalent to Earth Hour? Or is it just nonsense? And if so, why? And why are Earthlings doing this? All questions that deserve answers...

If Earth had a standard language, what would it be (like)?

Earth has many languages, but if we want to make contact alien life forms, it would be hard for them to learn them all. Wouldn't it make sense to use one language for interplanetary communication?

In Star Trek, the Federation uses English as their standard language - but mainly for dramatic purposes.

But in real life, would it make sense to pick one language to represent Earth? And if so, which one would it be? Or should we use a neutral language like Esperanto?

Note from /u/SweetLittleMe

This subreddit was a spontaneous creation of two like-minded people who have never met before. We live on either side of the Atlantic ocean and when our paths crossed in another subreddit, it was all about learning some basic CSS.

/u/SweetLittleMe had just become a mod for the first time ever and had a lot of questions about CSS and subreddit design. To cover up her first wobbly steps into the world of webdesign, she created an alter ego and as /u/andorian, started a private subreddit to practice.

On the other side of the Atlantic ocean, /u/summerchilde was willing to share what he knew, so he joined the subreddit and became a great teacher. His knowledge of CSS and his design ideas have since become a crucial part of this subreddit.

In the end, we had so much fun and our design turned out so beautiful that we decided to make this a public subreddit. The idea to share knowledge and ideas has remained and has hence become the underlying purpose of /r/andoria. We want to encourage users to do what we did: do learn from each other and share what you know.

And what will become of /u/andorian? Well, my alter ego has created this place and worked hard to get it all set up. She has earned the right to remain an honorary mod - a silent observer most of the time and on occasion, as President of Andoria, a proud representative of her people.
