I lost 35 lbs last year doing mile a day. It ended up being much more than a mile a day as I prepared for my second marathon.
My first marathon was Honolulu 2022 and my time was 6:05. Then I started mile a day, which turned into marathon training and my second marathon was San Francisco 2023 and my time was 3:59. In January when I started I was doing 7-10 mpw and maxed at 30-40 mpw during marathon training.
Since then I’ve had many ups and downs. Depression, pneumonia, shingles, busyness of raising toddlers, etc and have gained 80% of the weight back. Yesterday I started mile a day again. Wish me 🤞.

I'm new here. I've only got an 11 day streak so far, but that's long enough to not want to start over. A few decades ago I was a competitive runner, and getting back into the swing of things now, so a mile jog every day is easy. Most days I'm jogging 5-6 miles and will likely increase that, with occassional 1 mile days a nice "off day."
I'm trying to make sure nothing unexpected derails me. What have been your closest calls and what lessons did you learn from it?
I'm contemplating whether to run first thing in the morning no matter what (although I'd prefer to start my work first thing in the morning instead) or if I should squeeze my run into my day as needed. Soon I'll be back to lifiting weights and it's preferable to run on a treadmill afterward while already sweaty rather than run in the morning and lifting later in the day and have to shower twice.
But there's always a concern with waiting until the evening that some unexpected storm system could come through and ruin my plans.
I'm just trying to think through this all and make sure I'm never caught off guard. Please share what's worked for you. It might help me think through this. Thanks!
Hi - I am 21 weeks pregnant (due early March 2025) and will hit my 4 year streakaversary next Thursday! Given that it may be possible to run throughout my pregnancy, but not after giving birth, I am trying to come to terms with my streak ending and whether I should intentionally end it before the birth or not. Any advice would be appreciated:) (btw I am of course happy to be pregnant and having a baby will be worth losing the streak but it's still been a big part of my life for a while and sad to lose!)

Not sure if anyone is like me, but I've been trying to lose a little weight lately. I'm intrigued by the 4-2-1 method. Has anyone else attempted this and how did you adjust your streak running to the 2 days of cardio?

Hi, I’m working on a free Android app to make planning your runs a bit easier. You can check it here: https://weeklyruns.web.app/
The app allows you to easily share your weekly running streak on Twitter and celebrates each completed week of runs with confetti.
I created this app because I wanted a simple way to input my training plan, and easily change it when I get injured or have to cancel some runs and reschedule. I tried to use some existing planning apps, but I found them too complicated and more suited to advanced runners.
I was also often skipping warmups before my runs, so to help me stick to them, I recently added a Warmup Assistant that allows you to create your own custom warm-up plan, where you can add, update, reorder and remove any warmup step.
Let me know if you would like more features.

u/gunslingerroland and u/mwarvik responded with some encouraging tips (Thanks, guys!), and here we are... 2,923 days later, one (outdoor) mile or more every day.
I haven't been back here that often since my first year, but r/amileaday is where my runstreak got its start, and I'm grateful to have found this group.
Over the eight years, I've had months where I just ran 1.2 miles (my minimum) a day and months where I ran 3-8 miles per day. Months where I trained hard for 5ks (PR of 21:22 last year at age 56) and months where I plodded 1.2 miles at a 12-15 minute pace.
I held on to my runstreak through: Covid (2x), 100+ degree fevers, flu, foot injuries, a mile in an airport terminal at 11 pm, IT band issues, food poisoning (the hardest one to run through...), several days where I felt like just quitting, calf injuries, etc.
All of these "obstacles" will resonate with the veteran runstreakers in this group, and I'm sure most have overcome more.
