This subreddit is dedicated to the television series American Gods on Starz and the book series it is based on by Neil Gaiman. The TV series is developed by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green.
Starz's American Gods is based on the Hugo and Nebula award-winning novel of the same name written by Neil Gaiman.
Gods and myths are given form as people believe in them, but what happens when the new gods of technology and modern society replace them? A secret war is coming.

Certain youtube videos might be posted twice. That's done because a lot of trailers and promo's are region locked. We try to pin links that work everywhere but sometimes certain videos are only available in the US, requiring someone else to post a version that works outside of the US.

(Edit: at this point I'mma ask my Mom for hulu I give up 😔✌️)
Just finished it and all I'm feeling is nauseous, frustrated and angry. Feels like I just got off a high. Nothing makes sense!!!!!!!!!! I want to scream!!!!!!!!!
FUCKKKKKKKKKKK
Why are there repeating lines or word in the same sentence? Specific examples is the line Laura says to Audrey in the bathroom about embarrassing circumstances, slave worship to Anansi, Bilquis first victims worship to her, etc
Is it in the book?
Why
Any update on season 4??
I was revisitating old post to see how people reacted in the prime Season and this new interpratation from this post in Season One of Bilquis for me is very interesting and I wanna know your opinions: "I took the negative connotation from people being taken away from the world and their families because some sex goddess decided that she could induce people into a religious experience so strong that they couldnt reject her once they started." P.S: Again, this was before the Season 3 plot Bilquis
I’m rewatching the show from the start and it’s bugging me because I don’t recall this ever being explained.
In season 7, episode 3, Chandler is wearing a long sleeved shirt with the text “Think snow” printed on it.
Season 7 was filmed sometime in 2000, and American Gods is written in 2001, but it still made me think - was ‘think snow’ a phrase even before Neil Gaiman threw it into my head to live rent-free?
From S1E1, literally in the first few minutes. Spit out my coffee when some dude chucks a sword and it flies put of the picture frame (black bar for wide-screen). Is this just an error or some kind of mindfuckery?
its mad dookie shoutout to anyone who managed to get past new mr world ("go high key with our messaging" did me in i loved mr world i cant do this) youre the real gods with strength like that
Does anyone have a good freeze frame of the pamphlet in the purgatory episode. I tried pausing on it but couldn't get it good enough and was wondering if anyone had already done this.
Thank you.
Did some digging after finding this show in yt shorts and it looks like all 3 seasons are still available to purchase in the apple TV app.
Edit: first episode was free, will need to buy seasons still 22$ each
I just finished the book (like 30 minutes ago) and I was really interested in the show, I saw it only had three seasons so I know it won’t cover all of the content but is it worth watching in the first place? I enjoyed the book so much I would rather avoid the show if it doesn’t do the book justice.
I read the book years ago and I can’t remember when it became obvious who he is? I think I worked it out early on but I might be misremembering and it was told to us plainly?
Can anyone enlighten me? Much appreciated
Hey guys just started the show. Season one was great, full of mystery, but most importantly, Gravitas. Now, Mad sweeney feels like comic relief, media feels poorly written/acted and the general pacing feels much different/mainstream.
The best way I could phrase it is season 1 feels like HBO and season 2 feels more like Netflix. Can I ask what happened? Did they change writers? Directors?
You know why, she’s just a garbage person. I didn’t like her in the book and hated her more in the show. Honestly how could shadow ever feel anything for her again after she basically spit in his face with a mouth full of another man’s jizz.
She really is trash for the sake of being trash
If in American Gods it is humans who, when they believe in something collectively, give rise to Divine entities, then did a Deity previously exist that created humans? If humans evolved on their own, according to the theory of species evolution, then in the American Gods universe what makes them capable of generating Gods through collective faith?
Anyone currently reading the book? If so, what are your thoughts? I’ve watched the show like 3 times a couple of years ago, and wishing it was available again to watch as I read.
I’m a huge fan of sci-fi genre and I struggle to find anything good these days. I’m looking for shows like American Gods, Legion, Mr Robot, Black Mirror, Peripheral, Westworld etc. Anything that has creative cinematics and interesting plot that keeps me captivated, it feels like everything these days is very dry and dull. I’ve looked everywhere but no luck 🍀
Really?? What in the world is this story/characters progression? It starts off strong with many suspenseful subjects foreshadowed then just blatantly finishes season 1 in a non-sensical discussion - which is considered a "showdown"… Right. Then its off to Never Never Land in season 2 with random stories, a lot of inert dialogue and barely any progress or development in the main arc... Not to mention Moon Shadow (his real name as a supposed main character and yes, in the wrong order) portrays a deteriorating adult whose naivete slowly and surely brings him to a 5 year old's level until he finally becomes a placeholder (I hope he doesn't get the big bucks) along with "Dead Wife".
Wow, the directors must have been completely high, out of their element and/or just indifferent. Another potential show trashed by ineptitude.
I live in the US. STARZ no longer has it and Prime on shows episode 1 from the first season. WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO FIND ALL 3 SEASONS!??!??!? I didn't even get to watch season 3! Does anyone know where I can watch all 3 seasons. Appreciate the help or advice!
I heard it falls off after s1 so not sure if I should treat it as an incomplete short story and stop at s1 or keep going. Is there anything I should keep in mind going into s2?
