Althea is a set of internet protocols with payment built in, creating incentives for rapid expansion and investment in the network. Althea provides a way for people maintaining internet infrastructure to be funded and compensated autonomously, without the need for governments or businesses.
Althea is a system that lets routers pay each other for bandwidth using cryptocurrency. Althea uses mesh technology to route around congestion and damage in the network, as well as routing to nodes that charge lower prices. All of this is done automatically and transparently.
Bandwidth payments are made second-by-second, using cryptocurrency. Each router in the system is independent- capable of collecting payments and determining the quality of its neighbours without a central authority.

I've never so much as setup a router or firewall before so i'm not sure how a completly p2p yggdrasil setup looks? All the guides i see assumine im connecting to the internet. I am not, I want to host a local node for people in my area.
I have a wireless router or two. So how would this work..?
public wifi access point (not connected to internet) - > pc running yggdrasil..
i am really just confused. i'd like to get a meshnet wow server and ffxi server going for my orlando friends
Can anyone share?
I will assume that Althea was founded due to a lack of internet access in rural areas.
But, as I've thought about internet access in urban environments, I've had the following idea:
It should be possible to connect houses in close proximity via fibre optics. From my research, fibre optics would provide more bandwidth and be less expensive. If people already have an ISP, they could (at least in theory) share that uplink with their neighbours. So you'd have a highly efficient mesh network with a multitude of uplinks.
Hey where can I buy tokens?
