I'm moving soon. Does anyone know where the cheapest moving boxes and supplies are in town?
I haven't gone fishing since I moved back to Lafayette 3 years ago because I don't know of any good spots!
My favorite is catfishing but I really just want to go fishing again.
Id prefer natural fishing and not somewhere like Girard Park.
Does anyone know anything about this place? They recently offered me a position but it kinda seems like a sketchy business. Looking for a little outside insight on them
Never been. Worth checking out? 🐷
Desperately trying to get my generic Vyvanse filled. The last post I found relating to the Vyvanse shortage was 2 months ago. I've called so many pharmacies the past two days and can't find anyone who has it in stock. Anyone have any current leads?
I graduated from LHS in 2006, and back then, Lafayette and Acadiana were big rivals, they had been for years. They went so far as to even vandalize each other’s mascot statues. I haven’t really kept up with the sports rivalry over the years, but I know Acadiana has been dominant in football.
My question today for those who might know, is the rivalry still a big thing? I was talking to a teacher from Acadiana recently and she said, as far as she knows, the rivalry is not a big thing anymore to her knowledge. This prompted me to ask y’all today.
Hello - I'll be visiting southern Louisiana for a couple of nights this month. I definitely want to see Avery Island, and also catch some live music and good food. I checked out lots of recommendations from previous posters here. But... as a tourist, do you think it would be better to stay in Lafayette itself, or should I stay in a smaller place like Abbeville or New Iberia?
So to start off, I currently have a job working as an overnight stocker. However, I'm working 40-50 hours weeks and barely pulling $500 a week.
I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for places I could apply that have decent pay. I'm willing to work through the days or nights on 10-14 hour shifts (that's what I do currently). I just need a job that provides higher pay for the work, since the current store chain I work for is severely underpaying me.
My main issue is that I go to college from 9-5 on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 9-1 on Fridays. However, I can and am willing to work any other times during the week. I'm 19F, and have experience with janitorial, Cashier, clerk, and overnight jobs. However, I'm a quick learner and open to learning new skills. I'm also able to lift 80 pounds (maybe 100[?]) I haven't checked recently, but I can carry the big display boxes the store has, so I can work a physically demanding job fairly well. I also have experience being on my feet upwards of 9 hours without a break, so I can handle jobs like that.
I know there are Google searches I can make, but I want to see what the community has, since searching has come up empty so far.
I like to give clothes/toys to organizations that will actually get them to people that need it. I stay away from goodwill. Any recs?
I know I’m not the only one who thinks this. I KNOW. There’s no way.
When I was a youngster, my parents and grandparents always took me to BJ’s pizza on congress street. To this day that is still in my opinion the best pizza joint in Acadiana.
That all changed one fateful day when I was about 10 years old. My grandma said “we’re going to a new pizza place”.
This place was none other than the infamous “cardboard with pizza toppings” restaurant known as Pizza village.
It was crappy. We didn’t like it. At all. And from that point on, we never went to bj’s pizza again. It was always pizza village, cause that’s what my grandma wanted. Even though my sister and I begged to go to BJ’s instead…
Every time I hear people talking about pizza village, they talk about how amazing it is, and it’s the best pizza place around, bla bla bla. Everyone in Acadiana loves this crap pizza and I don’t get it!!! Meanwhile, BJ’s went out of business earlier this year?! Wtfff…. Why do people like this place so much? I eat pizza from just about anywhere, it’s like my second favorite food. And Their pizza just sucks. It’s hard as fuck and the cheese is burnt too shit. Ugh.
What’s your favorite pizza joint in Lafayette?
and if it’s pizza village please seek psychiatric help.
Does anyone have recent-ish experience with their kids going there? Thinking of putting my little one (age 1) there but I've seen some mixed reviews on Google. My 1 year old is a handful - extremely hyper, doesn't nap nor sleep easily AT ALL. I've read they'll ask you to remove your child if they aren't well behaved. She's never been away from us since birth, not even for a single hour (her grandparents watched her for 30 minutes once. That's it.) there has always been at least me or other parent with her, we have always made sure our schedules aligned to where at least one of us is with her 24/7, so I'm worried the adjustment may cause her to be even more of a handful. But now our schedules are changing and we will be working the same hours so daycare is a necessity. Not super stoked about it and pretty nervous. Learning Barn is literally less than a tenth of a mile from my spouse's work, and it's also on my route to and from home, so it's super convenient for us both. Hoping someone has had good experiences to ease my worries!
Listen to me. Youre in that fast car behind that car right behind him pushing him down the road. An old car is driving at the max speed it can safely go. You start pushing people down the road with your new car, the old car cant move fast and efficiently like your car, and youre asking the old car to operate at the ends of its ability.
Hey yall, so some of you may have seen the post made by my fiance and I advocating for duck crossing signs for the ducks that live in the pond near the scott roudabout off I10. Well... KLFY covered it LOL.
KLFY got some of the details wrong. They discussed the roundabout by Acadiana High School and that the ducks may belong to someone. However, we were specifically talking about the roundabout with the duck pond... right behind La Maison De Begnaud, near Billy's Boudin, McDonalds, Candyland Cottage, etc etc...
They have food dispensers for them at the pond. Also, we see the ducks cross the roads connecting to the roundabout not necessarily the actual roundabout itself.
We are not sure what DOTD guidelines prevent animal crossing signs, (as mentioned in the news video), but we still plan to go to the city council meeting tonight to discuss our concerns.
City Council Meeting is tonight, 6PM at Scott City Hall! (125 lions club rd)
Please join us if you are passionate about the safety of the scott duck population. 🦆
"If you live in Louisiana, contact your representatives as soon as possible (here’s a very easy way to do that!). You can also reach out to Kellee Dickerson by phone at (225) 380-4232 and email hse064@legis.la.gov.
Then, reach out to your own libraries and offer your support, either by showing up at board meetings and/or running for those board positions when vacancies occur. Go borrow books from the library and get your writing hands going with letters to your local papers.
EveryLibrary also has a petition you can sign related to HB777."
Hey yall! Does anyone have a favorite local place to get matcha or buy the ingredients? I would like to try it and I want to make sure I pick something good :)
What is the thought process when someone decides to put "truck nuts" on their vahicle?
Anyone know any where local (Lafayette area) where I could get a good lemon chess pie? It's the wife's favorite and I'm not a baker.
Thank you.
Found this in the back of the pantry. Today’s the closest we’re getting to a cold snap so I figured “what the hell”. What’s something you’ve found as a quick, convenience type local food that doesn’t suck?
