Tried DxWnd but I got a strange window named MSCTFIME UI which can't be closed. Any help in running Conflict Global Storm in windowed mode?

Hello everyone, I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully) to get the game “Prime Time” to run on my computer. I get the installation complete and the application even launches and shows in task manager, but nothing ever appears on screen.

Anyone able to help me get this to run? I suspect something is wonky with the DVD drive.

Found this relic of my childhood awhile back. The OG hardware + service that let you stream games in the 90s.

So earlier today I installed SH2 directors cut and installed the enhanced edition patch (after some other issues getting it to run, I had it installed already from a long time ago, got ee patch, it ran perfectly, some other instances of it opened, I had to close them all and it trying to find the file to re open it I accidentally moved something and fucked the whole thing up so I started with a fresh install from myabandonware in a new folder).

Gameplay wise, everything works perfectly (so far) and I’m in the second apartment building at the moment. The only thing is that both times I’ve seen him in and out of cutscenes, Pyramid Head hasn’t had his knife. When standing at the bars I thought just maybe he didn’t get it yet, but in the mannequin cutscene he also didn’t have it and he just waved his arms in the air for a while.

I haven’t had to fight him yet so I don’t know if the issue is just visual or something, but I’d like to get him his knife if I can, it feels pretty iconic and if it’s only visual I’d like to see what he’s hitting me with.

Has anyone else seen this or something like it? Do I need to back up my save somewhere and reinstall again or is there something else I can do to fix it? Should I just play with him knifeless?

I’ve played the first two hours twice before with bad installs when I was younger, but they both died at the first phead fight, so I have no idea anything that happens after that except that Maria shows up eventually, so I don’t know anything after that that would affect this if there is anything, although I can’t imagine there would be???

Good Morning, everyone! I hope this post finds you well!! I recently came across some abandonware games that really hit the nostalgia factor for me - games I used to play as a kid. It's been decades since I have played them, and would love to play again!!! That said, I don't know how to download, install and run some of these games. I was on MyAbandonware.com, and found a few games, I do not know what program I will need to run them. Here is a short list of games, their PC operating system (I think) and year they were released. Can anyone provide some insight for how to play them? Here's the list:

King's Bounty - DOS 1990

SimAnt - DOS 1991

Dungeon Master - DOS 1992

I cannot find anything about the games anywhere on the internet apart from this website. The company that made them is a Russian company called FriendsGames, I cannot find their website. Are those games lost media?

I been trying to find this abandoned ware title called Turning Point fall of liberty I used abandonware.com and the archive but it comes out with ISO files and I wanted a download thats already preinstalled. Yes im trying to get the games to run on my steam deck for those who are curious.

I've been archiving a bit of the old software and audiovisual media I used to use as a kid, but I can't seem to find my copy of Encarta Kids 2004 anywhere. Fortunately, the standard version of Encarta 2004 is safe on the Internet Archive, but does anybody happen to have Encarta Kids from that year?

Does anyone have a guide for getting these to work?

To put it simply I have been wanting to try out abandonwear games, mostly so I can play the godfather 2 video game, since I remember playing it a long time ago as a kid, but never finishing it, so I wanna give it a shot again. But I will admit I am a bit worried about downloading anything, I know the site is safe but I don’t know if there’s any set up I need to do before hand.

So yeah is there any sort of “essential kit” or programming I should download before hand? Or any precautions just in case? And anything I should be on the lookout for just in case?

The game was delisted in 2020 and is no longer available to buy. The servers still function though so I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to still get the game.

SOLVED: I changed to compatibility mode for "Windows 98 / Windows Me" and everything works as intended.

Installed the game without issue, but when I launch, the screen goes black. I can hear audio and the screen returns when I jiggle the HDMI cable to the monitor, although the actual game screen is about a quarter of the size it should be.

After the intro video, I get to the main menu but I cannot click anything with the cursor. Keyboard keys are not working either.

Running as administrator, compatibility mode Windows XP Service Pack 2. I have tried other compatibilities without success.

Ideas?

In my childhood i had a software on Windows XP that allowed to draw over the screen content with multiple colours. You were able to save the file then when you open it, the saved draw was displayed by progress automatic drawing.

I cannot find anything related to this on internet today, but I remember exactly that software. Name is « Mio » or « miopaint » and files extensions of drawing was maybe like « .mio »

If anyone can help me find this one I would be happy 🙏🏻
