Is there a Goth or post-punk scene nearby?
Hello! I recently moved to Alesund and I'm looking to connect with other Lindy Hoppers in the city or nearby areas. If anyone knows of any Swing dance classes, social dances, groups (or individuals!) that I could join, I'd really appreciate it if you could share!
Hello.Just moved to Norway 2 months ago and I would like to see all the best places nearby Ålesund. For the moment I don’t own a car, I will use the buss to reach these places. Until now visited:Aquarium, Sukkertoppen, Alnesvatnet, Høgkubben, Signalen and Geiranger(last year).
Hi, I'm planning a trip to Ålesund. I was wondering if the Mount Aksla Viewpoint is accessible for those with poor mobility and cannot manage a lot of stairs. Thanks
Hi Guys,
Im visiting Aalesund on a cruise in late-September - I was keen to do something active and thought the via ferrata may be fun. I'm quite active and adventurous but have not done via ferrata before, will this be challenging and entertaining or is it a little pedestrian?
Also is a guide necessary?
Thanks!
Is there a Parkour Scene or any good spots for Training Parkour in Ålesund? Or if you have any other facts about Parkour in the Ålesund area i would bei happy to hear them, thanks.
Hei :) I am currently visiting your beautiful city and I would love to buy fresh fish, preferably cod. Do you know where I can find it? Is there any fish market nearby?
Context: my girlfriend loves to read books set in the places we're visiting and we'll be spending a week in Harøya going around with our bikes, so we were wondering if there was any interesting one set in your beautiful area!
Hi! Me and my friends will be sailing in Norway next week, our trip starts in Alesund and we looking for the cheapest guitar that we can find in there. Do you guys know the place or site where we can look for it?
Hi there,
We are going on a cruise trip this Saturday and one of the destinations is Alesund where we'll stop by on 17th. We'd like to take a boat tour to Hjørundfjord and as far as I checked on the web there are 3 options below where there is no availability for any of them on Wednesdays. I know from MSC such tours are available, but the price is more than double if it is booked from MSC. I just want to ask if there are other companies other than the ones below that we can make online booking or is it also possible to find a tour somewhere in Alesund when we get there.

I'd appreciate if locals can give advice here. If no possibility where would you advise us to go?
Thanks in advance!
Hey,
me and two of my friends are planing on visiting Ålesund at the end of July. We're planing a 6-day hike and we need a gas cartridge. We were suppose to buy it on arrival, but unfortunately my arriving flight is on Sunday. Is there any place in the city where we can buy it that day? We need a typical tourist's cartridge, one of two kinds from below:
Hello! I live in Finland and in May went to Oslo, Bergen, Flåm, and Stavanger and did the main things in those areas with my sis. I loved the scenery so much I am ready to go back to Norway. My BFF is planning to come with me in August and wants to do a big scenic hike (think Trolltunga), but I don't want to repeat the roadtrip I just did (and we don't have time to get to the Lofoten islands).
This is the working itinerary I have for us with the idea of flying in and out of Ålesund and renting a car. It's a bit harder to find advice about hikes/tours/activities in this area, and mixed reviews on impressiveness of Geiranger fjord scenery compared to Sognefjord.
I know it'll all be beautiful no matter what but still would appreciate input/suggestions. Essentially need to know if my BFF will be missing out on the best things because I want to go somewhere different.
Alesund Area Sample Itinerary (camping = rustic cabins)
Aug 13 - Fly to Alesund and explore the city in the evening. Funicular or hike to city overlook.
Aug 14 - More city exploring if we want or leave to hike Molladen (1 hr ish drive) or other nearby hike. Drive to Urke (another 1.5 hours) and camp there.
Aug 15 - Hike somewhere near Urke (Slogen or Saksa is nearby). Camp again in Urke or drive to Hellesylt and stay there (more accommodation options).
Aug 16 - Drive to Hellesylt (30 mins) and tour Geiranger Fjord (RIB or Kayaking?) Maybe do a downhill biking tour there? Drive to Loen (1 hr) for camping
Aug 17 - Hike Loen Via Ferrata Hike w/ Zipline down. SUP, hang out. Drive to Alesund (2.5 hours) and stay at a nice hotel.
Hello everyone!
I'm going to Ålesund on 10th September on a cruise ship and was thinking of hiking to Sukkertoppen. I was wondering if we need a guide or can do it by ourselves (we are 6 people, all between 28-35 yo and in good shape).
If you think we should hire a tour guide, do you have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hei alle sammen!
I’m a transmission line engineer from Germany with a particular interest in long spans, of which there’s obviously quite a lot in your beautiful country (actually more than any other country in the world)
I’m curious about the overhead line crossing Hjørungsfjorden near the village of Ytre Standal, especially about the kind of anti-vibration devices (we call them Stockbridge dampers) installed there.
If anyone is in the region and can take sharp pictures, they’d have my eternal thanks.
Feel free to DM me !
Ok so I’m not sure where to ask this so hopefully someone here maybe able to help or point me in the right direction. So I’m American, just married and just moved here. My wife and I have a pool table for me because I can’t work until after the immigration paperwork is done. However the pool table needs some work done that I don’t know how to do. Is there any local or somewhat local pool table/ billiard table that work on/setup tables? I’m assuming yes since the mall has pool tables but I barely know any Norwegian yet so trying to search online is very difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Er det skuddpremie på mink her i ålesund? Å kan man fange minken på den måten man vil?
Hi there! Visiting Alesund from America and would love to see the bonfire tonight. I’m having trouble finding out where folks typically watch it from. Any ideas from this group?
Hello, I'm traveling internationally and plan on camping on the night of July 8 in the mountains near Aalesund (I'll be arriving in town on the 7th and leaving on the 9th). The specifics of my trip don't make carrying my tent reasonable but I will have my other gear.
I'm hoping to hire/rent a 2 or 3-person tent from somebody in or near town, and am willing to pay around 500 Krone. Thanks in advance for any responses :)
Hello! I’ve been in Ålesund for a couple of weeks, for work, and I was hit with the terrible surprise of my teeth seriously malfunctioning. I will at the very least need 1 or 2 fillings. Issue is, I come from southern Europe, and I will be getting my first paycheck mid-June. I was hoping to stall it with home remedies, but I woke up with awful inflammation. I don’t want it to reach the point of suffering. Any ideas whether there’s a dentist office on the cheaper side that may accommodate a payement plan, or in the perfect occasion, free of charge uni student dental offices? Or a miracle? It is actually bad, I’m scared. Please help.

I know very little information but it's all I have. Unsure of what Surname she is using. Can anyone assist me on where to look online to search for my cousin? I don't speak Norwegian so finding it difficult to do my search.
Hi, is anybody now in Alesund? How is the weather these days?
Thank you!

Hello all,
I'm planning to be in Ålesund on October 3 and 4. I'm hoping to see either Geirangerfjord or Hjørundfjord while I'm there. The problem is, it seems like almost every cruise option, stops at the end of September. Does anyone know of any options that run into October? Or if there are alternative options to see the fjords from Ålesund in October? Thanks in advance!
Hi! This summer I'm planning on moving to Norway with my girlfriend who already lives there. While I'm trying to learn norwegian and am around A2 level, I believe I still need to look for a job which accepts "engelsktalende". I've been on finn.no, arbeiderplassen and have applied to all of the jobs I could be suitable for, yet I feel I'm missing out. I want to ask whether you could give me any recommendations for smaller or less known businesses (from a local's perspective) which might not show up in the job websites? Takk!
