I grabbed one off ebay, replaced it, and it's DOA. swapped the white and blue wires like I've seen on here and nothing. Is it really just a game of chance with them? Also, my lcd cover glass is cracked, does anyone know where to get a replacement? Google didn't yield much results.
Opted for the 64gb, installed, now what do I do to install, firmware and software wise? I’m lost, read other posts but just not understanding, please treat me like a small child.
I'm thinking of getting a zune 30 and then replacing the battery with a better on and the memory with a ssd but I need to know before hand is it a difficult task?
After so many problems came from both devices i was able to install Zune on my Sony umpc and started syncing, and have some authentic Zune eXPerience
HI, new here. I had been wanting to get a zune again for a while because i missed my music without the ads and i love listening to the radio, as well as needing to limit screen time lol . So i ahve been trying to use the cmd prompt thing with the ExecTI app and its telling me that theres no path specified or that im inputting the command wrong. i dont want to sound like a dork or anything, this is my first time doing anything like this and i just successfully replaced the battery in my zune. Any help would be greatly appreciated and i hope im not missing something simple (also i already downloaded the zune software and its working, as well as my computer recognizing that my zune exists, showing zune with the yellow triangle warning symbol.
Also many apologies for my typing style
Edit: im also on windows 11, i did see there was an issue with that
Ok am I the only one that thinks there should be a shop where you can buy modded zunes as well as parts for the zune much like how the ipod had EOE
The 850mah battery everyone links to on Amazon is out of stock. I found it on AliExpress but it's overpriced and shipping would take months. Anyone know where you can still find them? There is a 600mah battery that is readily available, but that feels like a downgrade.
I really put in a lot of effort to recreate many of the long-lost but beloved Zune design elements and Windows 10 design elements on the Flutter platform. This is open-source software (but it's a paid app). I hope you like it.

Is 4.5 or 4.8 the newest firmware update for the zune player, and how can I get that updated! I just dated my ZuneHd last night with 4.5 (114), but I believe that what I had on my zune before just wondering am I missing something!
finally got my first prototype cranked out! Next step is to get the backing printed with some nicer material and sort out the range issues (it's pretty choppy and has interference past like 2-3 feet, but hey, it works!)
The metal backplate of the second generation prevented the signal from being any good. I think we need to design and 3D print our own plates. Also, there's no space to implement ground-loop noise isolation. Space enough for the solo BT adapter though.
I have 3 working Zunes. Gen 1 30gb, Gen 2 120gb, and Gen 3 HD32. My 30 & 120 sync fine, maybe 30 min for a full reload. My HD however takes upwards of 12 hours. Any thoughts? Should I try to reload the firmware? I don't get it. I got the 30 & 120 used, the 32 I bought from the base exchange brand new back in the day.
I also have an HD16 with dead battery, and a 1st gen 30gb that just boot cycles unless it's in my radio dock. Then it works fine. I'm working on plans to give that a sync tail for the PC so I can load music on it again, it's been this way since 2012.
Repair/Mod Services Price Sheet
Hi there Zuners. The Bluetooth mod is finally here. Please DM me for orders or comment down below with questions.
I launched this mod and repair service about a month ago and am super grateful to those of you who have trusted me with repairing and modding your Zunes. It is a very niche old device but it always brings a smile to my face when someone can finally access their old music again via this wonderful little time capsule.
I have tinkered with the bluetooth mod for the past 3 months and I'm finally ready to offer it as a service to everyone. I built on the previous efforts of u/That-Canadian and u/BLKnight44, and I also followed the Youtube tutorial by Mad Mod Labs. After getting everything working there was a hideous noise caused by the ground loop where the Zune and bluetooth module were being powered by the same power supply. I was able to fix it by following NizzyAmps video, and will be incorporating it into every single Bluetooth mod I perform.
I drew up the diagram at the top of this post, which was digitized by my wonderful partner, and it shows exactly how I perform the mod. I'm sharing it with everyone so y'all can feel free to try it at home. This mod requires an ssd and a flat high capacity battery. Those can be a bit pricy and I am offering a discount to those of you who already have those components, as that brings down my parts cost by a lot.
This mod is only available for Zune 30. It uses the Zune's built in wireless switch to turn the bluetooth on or off, and it also grounds part of the Zune aux connection, to make it think there is always an aux jack inserted. Otherwise the Zune wouldn't send out sound over the bluetooth signal when there is nothing plugged into the aux jack. The sound quality is very decent for bluetooth, but it is of course limited by the bluetooth adapter itself, and a direct aux connection will always sound better to the true audiophiles out there. I personally really like it, as it is bluetooth on demand when I want it, and it works perfectly with airpods or nothing ear headphones as well. You can also just turn the bluetooth off and the Zune keeps all its original functionality.
Battery life is drained a lot quicker when bluetooth is on. I find that my bluetooth headphones don't last as long as my Zune, and that the Zune easily lasts through the whole 8 hour work day and more even with bluetooth on the whole time.
The bluetooth volume is loud on the airpods but not as loud on my nothing ear headphones, meaning that your max volume will vary depending on which bluetooth device you connect to. For me it is always loud enough, but sometimes just a bit under the maximum volume I'm comfortable with.
Pairing can be a bit tricky at first. This bluetooth adapter will try to connect to anything nearby that it is in pair mode when you first turn it on. It will pair pretty much automatically afterwards. I recommend putting your bluetooth headphones in pair mode, and then toggling bluetooth on and off via the Zune's wireless settings. It might take one or two tries to connect to a new device for the first time.
I think that covers all the pros and cons. Feel free to ask me anything in the comments below.

Been doing any Zune things?
So I've given up on finding a legit replacement for my launch zune hd, does any one know if I can just take any 4 pin jack and run wire to the correct pins?
Long story short, I messed up and can’t use my external drive as my music library anymore because I don’t remember how I did it. 🫠 I’ve been trying to find the video that detailed how it’s meant to be done but unfortunately couldn’t find it. Does anybody else know how to do it? All I remember was putting a file onto the root of my Windows drive, or something like that. Much help would be appreciated!
Link in the guide is to an item that is no longer available. Can someone point me in the right direction? I finally gave my old Zunes to my kids, and after 2 weeks the battery on my original 30gb went put completely.
Any help is appreciated!
I have the running zune app and zune update > copied all photos to my collection. > see where collection is saved on my computer through the Zune app > do not see folder in File Explorer. I See there is a "install windows live photo gallery" But I really just want to download the photos to my computer!
My boss will give me the Zune if I can extract all the pictures off of it and put them on a thumb drive but I cannot figure out how to do this. I've spent like 7 hours trouble shooting getting the zune app, making Zune to connect to the app and backing up his 1000s of photos but this damn software is like 2 steps forward one step back!!!!
My boss offered me a 30 gb Zune, all I have to do is extract all the photos and put it on a thumb drive for him.
Issue is the Zune update connecting the Zune with the software, I didn't open the Host file as an Administrator and Host was stuck as an Host.txt which no tips could help me revert it back to a plain "file". I've seen options to download it as Host.txt from other sources but that's not working for me and I cannot revert the txt file back to "file" only. I have deleted the host.txt file and uninstalled zune and reinstalled but now there is no host file under in the driver folder.
Question is is there a download for simply the Host "file" from maybe a drop box without the "txt"
